  • Patent number: 6211489
Abstract: A press welding process which can be used in such industries as car-making, production of hot-water boilers, industrial and civil construction, in construction of pipelines using small and medium diameter pipes, for welding parts with a solid and developed cross-section, as well as for joining parts to form a T-joint. A magnetically impelled arc butt welding is achieved, that, during heating, the controlled continuous displacement of the parts being welded is performed where the gap between the parts edges is kept constant. The value of the welding arc voltage is used as the parameter for the gap size adjustment, and the moment of achievement of the required temperature on the edges of parts being welded, is determined by the length of the relative displacement of the parts, and when the assigned values of displacement have been reached, the speed of the arc movement along the edges of the parts being welded, is programmed.

  • Patent number: 6210358
Abstract: An earpiece for cleaning wax or other foreign material from the ear canal of a patient or delivering a therapeutic agent into the ear canal. The device has a fluid outlet that directs the fluid passing therethrough at an oblique angle to the longitudinal axis of the device. The fluid is thereby directed at the wall of the ear canal so reducing the likelihood of damage to the delicate structures of the eardrum. The device is also designed to allow inspection of the ear canal when it is in place so removing the need of repositioning equipment following cleaning of the canal.

  • Patent number: 6210072
Abstract: The present invention is a device and a method for protecting part of a coastline against erosion. The method uses the device as an elongated fin with a longitudinal axis lying generally in a horizontal plane. The fin is supported by a suspension arrangement so that it can swing in the horizontal plane. Adjusting the longitudinal axis of the fin, in the horizontal plane, causes the fin to deflect from the water flow a component that counteracts with a generally coast-parallel water flow component. This component originates from the water flow and/or from a wave that is not parallel with the coastline. The fin is carried by a suspension arrangement which enables the fin to swing in the horizontal plane. The suspension arrangement is constructed to increase the fin angle relative to the coastline when the direction of the waves relative to the coastline increases, and to decrease the fin angle relative to the coastline when the direction of the waves relative to the coastline decreases.

  • Patent number: 6209544
Abstract: A restraining device includes an article of dress (3) or a harness, which is put on or fastened around at least one part of the body. Two parts (4, 5) of a strap of about the same length extend from the backside of the article of dress (3) or the harness and outwards to the two sides (9) of the bed. In order to prevent a person being in bed from turning his body in one of the other directions from a position lying on the stomach to a position lying on the back, said strap parts (4, 5) are attached along the entire backside of the article of dress (3) or harness or are attached to the sides (6) of the article of dress (3) or harness.

  • Patent number: 6211829
Abstract: An antenna to be mounted on a personal telephone. The antenna has a helical radiator, an elongated radiator extendable through the helical antenna, and a coupler for activating the extendable elongated radiator, when in extended position. A more compact antenna with less need for receiving depth inside the telephone, is achieved by permitting the extendable elongated radiator, when in a retracted position, to extend at least partially inside the helical radiator. In the extended position the elongated radiator may be coupled to the telephone directly or via the helical antenna.

  • Patent number: 6209885
Abstract: In a boot for a universal joint in which a fitting portion is installed at one end side in an axial direction of a bellows portion on an outer ring portion of the universal joint by the clamp and a relief portion is provided between the bellows portion and the fitting portion on purpose to lower interference between each of the bellows and to relieve a contact of the bellows portion against the shaft in the case when being bent at a sharp angle. This prevents the relief portion from interfering with the tightly clamping portion of the clamp. The relief portion is designed to be arranged apart from the clamp by providing the spacer portion with the predetermined length in the axial direction between the fitting portion and the relief portion.

  • Patent number: 6205619
Abstract: In a hinge device, right-hand spiral cams formed on a lower portion of a rotational shaft are engaged with right-hand spiral guides grooves, and left-hand inclinated guide protrusions are engaged with left-hand spiral guide grooves formed on an outer circumference of an elevating pipe. When the elevating pipe moves upwardly or downwardly, the load produced by hydraulic pressure can be applied uniformly to the shaft. Therefore, it is improbable to break out or cut out the spiral cam formed on the shaft, the spiral guide grooves on the elevating pipe and the guide protrusion on the stationary pipe. As a result, the hinge device has a relatively long life-time. Also, the hinge device can reduce or prevent damage in respect of life and property.

  • Patent number: 6208299
Abstract: An antenna arrangement for receiving and/or transmitting electromagnetic signals in two spaced-apart frequency bands including a first frequency band having a first center frequency (f1) and a second frequency band having a second center frequency (f2). A first set of antenna elements (A1) are operative in the first frequency band (f1), and a second set of antenna elements (A2) are operative in the second frequency band (f2). A feeding network (C, 10, C1, C2) is arranged for feeding signals to the respective sets of antenna elements. The first set of antenna elements (A1) are arranged geometrically so that the first set has a first length (D1) in a first direction. The second set of antenna elements (A2) are arranged geometrically so that the second set has a second length (D2) in said first direction. In order to obtain lobes with the same beam width, said first and second lengths (D1, D2) are substantially inversely proportional to the first and second center frequencies (f1, f2).

  • Patent number: 6206572
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to provide a bearing device in which the bearing performance is not lowered even when the temperature is changed. In order to attain the object, the bearing device has a shaft and a sleeve. The shaft is made of stainless alloyed steel and has dynamic pressure generating grooves of a herringbone-like shape. The sleeve consists of the body made of a copper alloy, and an electroless nickel plated layer which covers the whole surface of the body. The electroless nickel plated layer has a coefficient of thermal expansion which is smaller than that of the body made of a copper alloy. The coefficient of thermal expansion of the shaft made of stainless alloyed steel is smaller than that of the body of the sleeve made of a copper alloy. When the temperature is raised, the electroless nickel plated layer suppresses the amount of thermal expansion of the body.
