  • Patent number: 8278556
Abstract: Stabilization of dielectrics used in transmission lines is described. In one implementation, the transmission line includes an outer conductor, a center conductor, and a dielectric material. The dielectric material separates the outer conductor from the center conductor. The center conductor has a conductive surface with a pattern distributed thereon. The pattern is configured to prevent the dielectric material from moving when the transmission line is exposed to an extreme temperature fluctuation. The pattern increases a coefficient of friction between the center conductor and dielectric material sufficient enough to prevent undesired motion of the dielectric material. In one implementation, the pattern includes indentations that are generally, but not necessarily limited to between 0.001 and 0.004 of an inch deep.

  • Patent number: 8270513
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for transmitting a multi-frequency signal composed of discrete tones of constant envelope parts that are amplified by a bank of fully saturated transmitters operating in their most power efficient mode. • Patent number: 7885355
Abstract: The present invention is a system and a method of filtering a signal at a receiver, the signal having at least a desired channel and blockers. A first converter converts a first copy of the signal resulting in a relatively narrow band, high-resolution first signal. A second converter converts a second copy of the signal resulting in a relatively wide band, low-resolution second signal. Once each copy of the signal is converted, the copies are passed to a combiner. At the combiner, the two copies of the signal are analyzed and the desired channel is extracted from the first copy of the signal by removing any inter-modulation product caused by any interference detected in the second copy from the blockers (not detected in the first copy).

  • Patent number: 7789101
Abstract: A Regulator-Oxygen (ROX) Unit for regulating oxygen flow in an emergency oxygen distribution system in passenger aircraft initially allows unregulated surge of oxygen to purge ambient air from the system. After sufficient pressure is achieved in the system, the ROX unit regulates oxygen flow mechanically with a diaphragm engaging a regulator valve that responds to the pressure of the oxygen under the diaphragm to reduce the flow of oxygen through the ROX unit, which accounts for altitude changes by communicating the inlet pressure to the chamber above the diaphragm. A bleed exit allows the oxygen to escape to the ambient air. One or more aneroid valves serve to adjust the amount of oxygen allowed to exit through the bleed exit, allowing less oxygen to escape with increasing altitude. An increase in pressure above the diaphragm allows more oxygen to flow through the regulator valve.

  • Patent number: 7780386
Abstract: A coupling mechanism is provided. The coupling mechanism includes a bushing assembly adapted to establish a coupling when rotated, a housing that is rotatable when torque is applied to the housing, a torque-limit member positioned between the housing and the bushing assembly such that when the torque-limit member is in a positive-lock state, the housing and bushing assembly rotate jointly upon the application of torque until a predefined torque level is attained. A compressible member is included that engages the torque-limit member to define through frictional resistance of moving parts and parts geometry a predefined torque level. The torque-limit member switches from the positive-lock state to a ratchet state when the predefined torque level is attained. When the torque-limit member is in the ratchet state, the housing rotates relative to the bushing assembly.

  • Patent number: 7705694
Abstract: In accordance with principles of the present invention, a two or more pole dielectric resonator circuit is provided with resonators that are elliptical in cross section orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The resonators are mounted so that they are rotatable about their longitudinal axes, such that the straight line distance between two adjacent resonators measured in a straight line between orthogonal to and intersecting the longitudinal axes of the two resonators is a function of the orientation of the resonators about their longitudinal axes. The resonators can be oriented about their longitudinal axes in any orientation to adjust their spacing, which is directly proportional to their coupling magnitude, which, in turn, is proportional to the bandwidth of the circuit.

  • Patent number: 7677529
Abstract: An electromechanical valve assembly for controlling oxygen flow from a compressed oxygen source in an aircraft includes: a valve housing, an inlet, an outlet, a passageway allowing flow of oxygen from the inlet to the outlet, a spring-biased conical poppet movable within the passageway; a spring-biased pressure regulating piston engagable with the conical poppet to maintain it in an open position, a push rod engagable with the conical poppet to maintain it in a closed position, and a movable seat in the passageway that engages the conical poppet to regulate gas flow through the passageway. Actuation of an electric motor assembly to cause the seat to move upward results in closing of the valve assembly and shutting off of the oxygen flow. Actuation of the motor assembly to cause the seat to move downward results in opening of the valve assembly and regulation of the oxygen flow.

  • Patent number: 7668509
Abstract: A frequency selective leveling loop that performs phase and amplitude control of multiple signals within a phased array structure is disclosed. The leveling loop sensor components are embedded into the array structure. The frequency selective leveling loop can be used with multiple signal amplifiers, and a conventional phase array jamming system can be used to radiate multiple signals simultaneously. The conversion of phase information to baseband eliminates the need for phase matched cables. The frequency selective leveling that is enabled is tolerant of multiple signals and provides the individual signal phase and amplitude feedback by utilizing analytic sampling.
