Abstract: The dual output alternator has a three phase stator winding with three terminals. A first set of three diodes is provided, each of which has its anode connected to a different one of the three winding terminals. The cathodes of the diodes of the first set are connected together and to a first output terminal. A second set of three diodes is provided each of which has its anode connected to a different one of the three winding terminals. The cathodes of the diodes of the second set are connected together and to a second output terminal. A third set of three diodes is provided, each of which has its cathode connected to a different one of the winding terminals and its anode connected to ground.A metal housing is provided for supporting the stator winding. Two metallic heat sink members are supported in the housing near one end wall thereof, spaced from each other and electrically insulated from the housing.
Abstract: A rotary phase generator for generating 3 phase voltage is provided which can operate off of 230 or 460 volts A-C. Also provided is a rotary phase generator which has two groups of running capacitors for providing a stable voltage on the third phase at no load and light loads. In addition, a booster system is provided for a rotary phase generator to provide high starting torque to one or more of the motors operated on the rotary phase generator. A plurality of smaller rotary phase generators may be connected in parallel and started in time delay sequence to eliminate the heavy starting current when starting the system on one phase power.
Abstract: Apparatus and method for interconnecting a rubber, fluid-impermeable cup having a wall thickness with a reservoir characterized by an attacher having interference fit with an aperture in the wall of the cup so as to form a fluid-impermeable seal, and a stem and flange over which a short section of rubber tubing is inserted sufficiently to exert a force against the flange the wall of the cup to effect a fluid-impermeable seal joint and a mechanical joint without adhesives. Preferably, the short section of rubber tubing is corrugated so as to allow being being without blocking flow of fluid therethrough and has corrugations extending beyond the attacher so as to not block the bore through the attacher.
Abstract: A method and system for improved performance of a V/STOL aircraft characterized by directing a major portion of exhaust gas flow from a propulsion system through a closed conduit means to exit through a thrust producing primary nozzle that includes turning apparatus for forming a bend for the exhaust flow downstream of the propulsion source; turning the exhaust flow while simultaneously bleeding-off through at least one secondary nozzle a second and minor portion of the exhaust flow from an outer portion of the bend downstream of the bend leasing edge to reduce the vortex formation in the bend and directing the bleed-off and exhaust flows adjacent each other and oriented in the same direction in all flight modes for recovery of the maximum thrust potential.

Abstract: An improvement in an offshore well having a main casing penetrating subterranean formations below the bottom of the water and protruding upwardly through the water with a wellhead affixed above the surface of the water and a boat landing connected with the main casing. The improvement comprises a plurality of at least three anchor piles driven into the bottom at respective azimuths and distances about the well with the well anchored thereto via cables, the cables running upwardly through pulleys disposed a predetermined distance, such as 15 feet, below the surface of the water so as to anchor the well against lateral forces, yet satisfy Marine Maritime Service regulations and allow maneuvering of boats about the well. Also disclosed are typical and preferred structures including sizes and the like.
Abstract: A method of seismic prospecting in which there is employed conventional upsweep and downsweep and opposed polarity of signals that are being sent into the earth as seismic signals and in which there is introduced a taper at the common frequency at the common time on the respective upsweep and downsweep signals to reduce the most significant part of the correlation noise, yet provide the advantages of each of the methods of using opposite phase polarity, to cancel and using opposite upsweep and downsweep to achieve reduction in the noise experienced, as well as the reduction of the most significant part of the correlation noise that distorts the desired zero-phase Klauder wavelet.
Abstract: Method and apparatus for measuring formation compressional and shear wave velocities characterized by a downhole tool having an attenuation chamber between a transmitter and a receiver and a plurality of receivers spaced from the transducer so as to discriminate through the amplitude of the reflected compressional wave the critical angles for the respective formation compressional and shear wave velocities, thereby determining the formation compressional and shear wave velocities. Also disclosed are preferred embodiments in which the plurality of connectors connected between the receivers are also connected with a recorder for recording gated time interval signals. A discriminator and gate are provided for discriminating the largest amplitude of received acoustic energy signals received during the gating period.

Abstract: A fishing accessory device that holds containers of different sizes and shapes in locations convenient for the fisherman can be removed from one mount with only an upward motion and reinstalled easily on another mount. Once mounted, the device is firmly wedged in place onto the mount. Mounts can be placed in numerous locations throughout a boat. Cavities having inwardly sloping interior walls securely hold a variety of containers that are wedged into place.
Abstract: There is disclosed tub-shower diverter apparatus that includes a diverter chamber having a planar annular surface that is pierced by a first opening or openings to provide communication with an inlet water supply, and is further pierced by second and third oppositely disposed openings or series of openings that communicate respectively with a tub outlet and a shower outlet. The second and third openings are centered on a diameter of the planar annular surface and are spaced radially from the first opening. Diverter seal means disposed within the diverter chamber is an elastomeric washer sized to overlay the second and third openings, but not the first opening. A diverter cam underlies a portion of the elastomeric washer to prevent that portion from engaging the diverter chamber planar annular surface. Rotation of the cam permits selection of the portion of the elastomeric washer that will not be engaged with the diverter chamber planar annular surface.

Abstract: There is disclosed an easy to install grommet device for protecting conduit passing through a wall opening and for providing an air seal between the conduit and the edge of the wall around the wall opening. The grommet device has a relatively stiff fastener portion with projections extending therefrom and locking devices at the ends of the projections for engaging the edges of the wall around the wall opening. An elastomeric seal portion receives the projections and has an aperture of smaller dimensions than the outside dimensions of the conduit.
Abstract: What is disclosed is a method of forming a high-strength proppant that resists the deleterious effects of high temperature saline environments characterized by the steps of forming a plurality of particles of propping agent; and coating particles with a thin high-strength covering in a fluidized bed employing chemical vapor deposition to deposit a coating substantially uniformly over all the exposed surfaces of the particles to increase durability of the particles, as well as their strength and resistance to the deleterious effects of hot saline environment. Preferably, each particle has at least one passageway formed directly therethrough for increased permeability once deposited.
Abstract: A method of alleviating problems with high stresses above fatigue failure levels due to vibrations modes caused by vortex shedding during the lowering and jetting-in of a large diameter surface string in deep water having a current characterized by the inclusion of a moment reducing device in the suspension conduit holding the surface string of conduit during lowering and jetting-in. Also disclosed are preferred embodiments where the moment reducing device is either a ball joint or a flex joint.

Abstract: A tilt detector for accompanying goods to be transported to determine when the goods have been transported in a recommended position without being inclined at an angle greater than a pre-determined angle characterized by a first fluid of a first density, a second fluid of a second density, a horseshow shaped baffle with a trapping end in the form of an inner apex for trapping the second mass under the force of gravity when in a vertical position with its opening end in the opposite direction such that at least a part of the second mass is freed to move out of the baffle when it is tilted beyond a pre-determined angle of tilt; the degree of the sides of the baffle being related to the pre-determined angle of tilt, and a thin container having at least a transparent window for viewing at least the trapping end of the horseshoe shaped baffle for ascertaining if the second mass has been freed such that the tilt detector can be affixed to goods, containers and the like to tell if they have been tilted too much.
