Abstract: A woofer module is provided for use in a television set, which comprises a hollow enclosure and a woofer accommodated within the enclosure for reproducing a sound of low audible frequency band. The enclosure has a first sound wave passageway extending from a front side of the woofer toward a first open end and a second sound wave passageway extending from rear side of the woofer toward a second open end. The second passageway is divided into an upstream region, a middle expansion region and a downstream region. The upstream region is contiguous to the rear side of the woofer and has a cross-sectional area smaller than that of the expansion region so that an equivalent air mass can be applied to the woofer.

Abstract: An interframe video encoder of the type known as a hybrid coder, combines the advantages of both the interfield and the interframe codings for low bit-rate video transmission. The pel elements of differential block from subtracter are rearranged and the correlation of the rearranged block is estimated. The correlation of the differential block is also provided. And then, one of the differential block and the rearranged block is subjected to two-dimensional transform according to the comparsion of the correlations.
Abstract: The present invention relates to an ultraviolet light curable coating composition having a shorter curing time and an excellent abrasion resistance, which comprises:(A) an aqueous-alcoholic base resin dispersion containing, based on the weight of the total solids present in the base resin dispersion,(a) 5 to 75% by weight of a colloidal silica and(b) 25 to 95% by weight of a partial condensate of a silanol of formula:R SI(OH).sub.3whereinR is a C.sub.1-6 alkyl, C.sub.6-20 aryl or hydroxy group; and(B) an ultraviolet light curable catalyst of formulaAr.sub.3 S.sup.+ MX.sub.n.sup.-whereinAr.sub.3 is a triphenyl, tri(4-methoxy)phenyl, tri(3,5-dimethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl), diphenyl-2,5-dimethylphenyl or tri(4-methyl) phenyl group; andMX.sub.n.sup.- is a metallic halide anion.
Abstract: The present invention provides a blue dye composition having excellent percentage of exhaustion which comprises a compound of formula(I) and a compound of formula(II): ##STR1## wherein each of said R's, which may be the same or different, represents a C.sub.1-4 alkyl group.
Abstract: A method of recovering contaminants entrained in subsurface soils which includes establishing a plurality of vacuum withdrawal wells and a plurality of air injection wells adjacent to a contaminated zone of earth. The method includes operating the wells in this fashion for a predetermined time, then reversing the air flow through one or more of the wells to effect contaminant removal in previously untreated nodes in the well field.
Abstract: An anode basket for use in electroplating operations. The anode basket is formed of a pliant, shape-returning material which acts as a spring to ensure contact between the plating metal and the anode. The basket may be formed of a non-conductive plastic and the anode from corrosion-resistant conductive metal.
Abstract: A golf ball cleaner with a housing having the outward appearance of an ordinary golf ball, the housing separable into two hollow, semi-spherical sections for placement of a golf ball therein for cleaning. Each hollow section includes a pad made of a sponge-like material releasably attached to the interior face thereof. One pad further includes a layer of a slightly abrasive fiber on the outside surface thereof such that cleaning is effected without scratching the surface of the golf ball. The two halves are releasably joined at common, overlapping annular edges which allows rotation of one half relative to the other half about an axis perpendicular to the plane of joining. The twisting motion of the two halves and friction caused by the pads effect cleaning of the golf ball.
Abstract: Fingerless palm glove used in a game of catch including a hand wrap for covering the palm of the wearer while allowing the free movement of the digits and having a hook material section for use in association with a ball covered in a loop material.
Abstract: A bracket serving as a sign support by providing a leg and a foot with a multiple of retainers carried by the leg and foot for holding the sign in a vertical orientation.
Abstract: A solenoid valve assembly including a diaphragm assembly which is conformed to the poppet and which moves therewith. The poppet is integral with or mounted to the pole piece of the solenoid. The poppet is shaped to conform to the shape of the valve seat. The diaphragm is preferably elastomeric and stretchable to create a wiping motion against the valve seat when the solenoid is deactivated. The valve seat may also have an annular groove to allow flushing of the valve in both open and closed positions.
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved modular antenna pole and to a unique and novel method of joining the pre-fabricated sections which, when assembled, constitute the pole. The pole is comprised of a series of cylindrical sections of decreasing diameters having flanges so designed that the bottom flange of a next succeeding higher section, secured to the outside of the cylindrical section, mates with the top flange of the adjacent lower section, which flange is secured to the inside thereof. Consequently, the pole may be "tapered" from bottom to top in progressively smaller incremental steps rather than by tapering each successive section.
Abstract: An improved engine utilizing a dwelling scotch yoke and a journalled flywheel in a unique combination for stalling the translatory movement of oppositely paired pistons during the detonation of the fuel mixture to achieve a clean exhaust and a energy efficient engine.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyolefinic resin composition having superior paintability which comprises:(A) 40 to 80 parts by weight of a crystalline polypropylene resin;(B) 1 to 50 parts by weight of a thermoplastic olefinic rubber prepared by dynamic-crosslinking 10 to 70 parts by weight of a crystalline polypropylene resin with 90 to 30 parts by weight of an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin rubber;(C) 0.5 to 30 parts by weight of a polypropylene resin modified by grafting a polar monomer which has a physical affinity, but is not reactive, with an ethylene copolymer or ethylene copolymer rubber modified with .alpha.,.beta.-unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof; and(D) 1 to 40 parts by weight of said modified ethylene copolymer or ethylene copolymer rubber based on 100 parts by weight of the total weight of the components (A),(B) and (C).
Abstract: A germicidal air purifier for trapping and destroying airborne microorganisms is disclosed. The air purifier includes an ultraviolet radiation source and a juxtaposed filter medium. A one of the ultraviolet radiation source and the filter medium is fixed and the other is displaceable so that at least an upstream side of the filter medium is systematically exposed to germicidal levels of radiation. In a first preferred embodiment, a fixed ultraviolet lamp irradiates a cylindrical air filter which is rotated on its longitudinal axis in close proximity to the lamp so that the upstream side of the filter is systematically irradiated. In a second preferred embodiment, a radiant lamp fixture is moved reciprocally across an upstream side of a planar filter to systematically irradiate the filter. In a third preferred embodiment, a radiant lamp fixture is rotated about an axis which is orthogonal to its longitudinal midpoint so that a circular area of a planar filter is irradiated.
Abstract: An improved automatic spindle moving device for a tapping/drilling machine is disclosed. A worm is formed on a spindle in an elongate form in the lengthwise direction thereof, and a pair of worm wheels are meshed with the worm, while the worm wheels are supported by horizontal shafts. A braking means is installed on the leading end of the horizontal shaft, so that the worm wheels can be braked, thereby reducing the revolution speed of the spindle. The power corresponding to the revolution speed reduction is converted to elevating or lowering the spindle, so that the spindle should move up and down. Thus repeated automatic continuous tapping is rendered possible, and the up and down movements of the spindle can be arbitrarily adjusted. Further, during a drilling operation, holes can be drilled to a uniform depth repeatedly, while a pedal can be utilized in tapping or drilling. Thus tapping internal threads and drilling holes are rendered more convenient and easier.
