Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrophotographic recording material consisting of an electroconductive support material with a photoconductive double layer of organic materials which consists of a homogeneous, opaque, charge carrier producing dyestuff layer and of a transparent top layer of insulating materials containing at least one charge transporting compound, which is characterized in that the organic dyestuff layer consists of a compound of the general formula ##EQU1## wherein --A-- is a diphenyl or azobenzene group which may be substituted by alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and/or halogen,R and R.sub.1, which may be the same or different, are alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or carbalkoxyl, in which the alkyl groups have from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, andR.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are phenyl groups which may be substituted by alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
Abstract: A method of making a unitary structure, such as, a conveyor idler, having a heat-sensitive subassembly with at least one moving part therein, such as, a lifetime lubricated bearing structure, wherein the subassembly is preassembled, the preassembled subassembly is placed in a mold, and a plastic, having a sufficiently low temperature of formation to prevent damage to the heat-sensitive subassembly and, upon hardening, a sufficient compressive strength to hold the subassembly together and form a pressure resistant unitary body, such as, a hard polyurethane foam having a compressive strength of at least about 90 kp/mm.sup.2, is formed about the subassembly. A protective covering, such as, a plastic sleeve, resistant to abrasion, can also be placed in the mold and made to adhere to and surround the outside surface of the unitary plastic body during the formation of the unitary plastic body.
Abstract: This invention relates to an electrophotographic developer liquid comprising a dispersion of a colored, viscous solution of polymers containing about 0.01 to 10 per cent by weight of water, calculated on the weight of polymers present, in an electrically insulating carrier liquid having a kauri-butanol value of less than about 30 and in which at least one of the polymers is sparingly soluble. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the novel electrophotographic developer liquid.
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in the process for reconditioning worn frogs of railway switches by severing the frog together with sections of the regulating rails adjacent thereto, reconditioning the frog, and renewed welding-in of the frog block, the improvement comprising severing the worn frog from the junction regulating rails at connecting welds thereof, reconditioning the frog, and welding two new regulating rails onto the reconditioned frog, with compensation for the loss in length, due to the severing operation, simultaneously in one casting by aluminothermic welding.
Abstract: A motor or processing machine, such as a lowspeed radial piston motor, having a piston with a socket formed therein operatively contacting a ball formed on one end of a piston rod, to form a ball-and-socket joint with articulated movement, and a shoe on the other end of the piston rod, adapted to glide on a rotating element of the machine, such as a crankshaft eccentric, in which the entire piston rod is formed from a bronze-base bearing metal, such as steel bronze. At least the shoe of the piston rod may be coated with a thin, soft run-in layer, such as tin, and a pocket may be formed in the shoe of the piston rod to provide hydrostatic relief.

Abstract: This invention relates to an electrophotographic recording material comprising a conductive support, an organic substance capable of transporting electrical charge, and a dyestuff of purple to violet color, having: (a) an X value in the range of from 0.13 to 0.52 and a Y value within the range of from 0.019 to 0.33 in the CIE system, (b) an extended .pi.-electron system of at least 20 .pi.-electrons, and (c) possessing a reflectance of not more than 50% throughout the spectral region of 420 to 750 nm when in the form of a single color-masking layer of about 0.1 g/m.sup.2, and which has a high photosensitivity throughout the said spectral range. The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of the novel recording material.
Abstract: This invention relates to a unilaterally closed cylindrical hollow stick of shirred tubular casing having a closure within the stick bore in the zone of the stick beginning and formed from the casing end itself, said closure being composed of a U-shaped body of longitudinally shirred tubular casing. The invention also relates to a process for the production of the closure.
