  • Patent number: 4798364
Abstract: A flexible surface plywood concrete form liner is disclosed which includes a flat planar sheet of relatively thick plywood material which has been precisely sized and squared. The prepared plywood sheet material is coated with a layer of relatively thin, flexible elastomeric material cast as a one-piece layer over the entire surface of one side of the plywood sheet material as well as all four edges. In this way, the elastomeric material is a continuous integral coating bonded directly to the surfaces of the plywood to prevent the penetration of moisture or chemicals from the concrete into the laminations of the plywood during use. A textured negative impression can be provided on the outer surface of the elastomeric material to leave a textured surface in the finished concrete. A novel edge seal which can be slightly angled is formed along the edges of the liner so that the joint between the liners is reinforced to strengthen and prevent blow-out of the concrete at the liner joints.

  • Patent number: 4773132
Abstract: A hand held holder includes a handle portion which joins two outwardly extending bifurcated legs which form an acute angle from said handle. Sharp-edged ridges on lateral teeth are provided on the inside surface of each of the legs and are arranged to extend at least partially across the width of the legs to provide a contact surface for a food item or object which is to be immersed. The outer ends of the legs terminate in a curved section or backwardly angled surface to guide the object into the teeth of the device. The resiliency of the material which forms the handle and legs of the device is sufficient to create a relatively strong compressive force on the surface of the object when it is gripped by the teeth so that, during the immersion in the liquid, when the object has reached suitable saturation, the compressive energy will be suddenly released, causing actual movement of the legs which creates a tactile or visual signal for the user.

  • Patent number: 4695385
Abstract: A dialysis reuse system for cleansing, sterilizing and testing a hemodialysis machine and its associated dialyzer and blood tubing set. The reuse control device automatically controls either the selected reuse cycle or dialyzer test cycle as desired. In the reuse cycle a proper solution of bleach, rinse water and formaldehyde disinfectant is flushed through the system for a prearranged time period and in proper sequence to completely cleanse and disinfect the entire dialysis system including the dialyzer and blood lines. At the end of the cycle, the system is isolated, leaving the disinfectant solution intact within the system to prevent bacteria growth and contamination. In the dialyzer test cycle, a dialyzer clearance test is automatically performed using the associated hemodialysis machine to test the condition of the dialyzer membrane prior to patient treatment.

  • Patent number: 4661817
Abstract: A method and device for measuring the distance to an object, particularly the distance to the surface (17) of a liquid in a container (15). An antenna (11) is arranged a distance from and aimed against the surface, the antenna being connected to a measuring unit (12), a channel unit (13) and a control unit (14). A microwave signal with a predetermined frequency is generated in the measuring unit (12), of which a part is utilized as a reference signal, while a further part is input to the antenna (11) and transmitted against the surface (17). From the reflected signal received by the antenna and supplied to the measuring unit (12) and the reference signal, a function of the antenna input reflection coefficient is determined. This function is adapted to the current condition. A fourier transformation of a set of values of this function at a certain set of measuring frequencies is made, from which the distance to the surface is calculated.

  • Patent number: 4551847
Abstract: A hand-held tape measure is provided which includes a conveniently sized housing with an elongated measuring tape suitably coiled on a rotatable shaft mounted within said housing. A sprocket arranged to engage the surface of the tape without slippage is mounted within the housing and drivingly connected to an encoding disk whereby the rotation of the disk is directly proportional to the linear movement of the free end of the tape. The disk is divided into an equal number of alternating transparent and opaque segments and two energy sensitive coupler switches are mounted in conjunction with the disk to provide electrical outputs indicative of the adjacent disk segment to indicate the rotation of the disk. The switches are offset circumferentially to provide a phase differential which indicates whether the tape is extending or retracting with respect to the housing. The output from the switches is fed to an electronic circuit which counts and divides the output pulses with the result digitally displayed.
