Abstract: A liquid treatment apparatus or system having a liquid treatment medium bed which is regenerated by passing through it a solution formed by dissolving a solid in a liquid. An automatic control system initiates a regeneration cycle when necessary. Indicia are provided in association with the container containing the solid material such that an appropriate indicia will represent the amount of solid material in the container. By providing the control circuit with the indicia, the control circuit will record the amount of solid material remaining and initiate an alarm when the amount of solid material remaining is below a predetermined level.

Abstract: A self-contained monitoring system for monitoring the operating condition of a fluid treatment device. A housing provides a pair of flow passages, one for liquid supplied to, and the other for liquid treated by the fluid treatment device. Separate pairs of electrodes are provided, with one pair of electrodes extending into one of the flow passages and the other pair extending into the other flow passage. The conductivities between each pair of electrodes are provided as signals to an electronic circuit contained within the housing which provides electrical output signals indicative of the operating condition of the fluid treatment device based upon the conductivity of the supplied and treated fluid flows.
Abstract: A reverse osmosis water processing and storage system having a prefilter, reverse osmosis membrane assembly, and a storage volume contained within a first tank. The prefilter and reverse osmosis membrane assembly are located within a second tank which is in turn located within an expandable bladder which is received within the first tank. Processed water is stored in the volume provided between the second tank and the expandable bladder.
Abstract: A temporary support for a mine roof is mounted on a mobile roof bolter, and includes a main support frame pivotably connected to the bolter, a main support beam and a ground contacting beam, both extending along the same axis in front of the main support frame, and connected to each other and to the main support frame by a scissors pivot joint and a leveling pivot joint, respectively. When the scissors pivot joint opens and closes, the main support beam and ground contact beam raise and lower with respect to each other and with respect to the ground. A cross beam is mounted on the main support beam and transverse to the axis thereof, and raises and lowers in the same plane with respect to the mine face, to contact and support the mine roof. For a high lift version, the scissors pivot joint is telescopically extendable.
Abstract: A hanger for securing a pair of gloves to each other and for hanging the pair of gloves from a peg. A hanger is formed with a hook, and a pair of ribs are provided on a pair of members which are spring loaded toward each other such that the ribs will engage the gloves therebetween to secure the gloves to each other and to the clip. A fastener is passed through a hole formed in each of the pair of members so as to prevent the ribs from being disengaged from each other unless the fastener is destroyed.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for exposed eggs and hatchlings of precocial avian species incubated, hatched, and brooded under artificial conditions to sound recordings made under natural incubating, hatching and brooding conditions to reduce the spread of time over which the hatchlings emerge from the eggs, to reduce the stress experienced by both the unhatched embryo and the hatchling, and to increase the attraction of artificially incubated hatchlings to feed and water during the brooding stage.

Abstract: An egg tray is provided which holds the eggs at an angle of approximately 35.degree. relative to the horizontal floor of the tray with the large or air-cell end of the egg being elevated. Air vents in the tray sides permit fresh air to flow directly over the eggs during incubation. A hatchery facility includes racks for holding a plurality of such trays loaded with eggs. The loaded racks and are rolled into an incubation and hatching chamber through a first set of doors which connect the chamber to a first hallway in which fresh air is circulated. After incubation and hatching, the racks and an air control unit in each chamber are removed through a second set of doors into a second hallway in which air from the chambers is vented during incubation and hatching. The air pressure in the first hallway is greater than that in the second hallway thereby minimizing the risk of contamination.
Abstract: An electrostatic discharge device which is secured over the cover of a wall mounted switch to provide a readily available instrument for discharging an electrostatic charge developed on the body of a person. The electrostatic discharge device includes in a series electrical circuit a grounded conductor, a current limiting resistor, an electrical discharge component, and an electrode for receiving a current flow to discharge an electrostatic charge.
Abstract: A position responsive switch having a ball received within a hollow cylindrical conductor. Depended upon the position of the switch, the ball may contact only the hollow cylindrical conductor or it may also contact a second conductor to complete a circuit between the two conductors. The cylindrical conductor and ball are enclosed in a two-part insulating housing, including a hollow member having one closed end, and a cap for closing the open end of the hollow member. Electrical leads are connected to the two conductors through the closed end of the hollow housing member.

Abstract: A rotary flow control valve for controlling the cycles of a multicycle liquid treatment apparatus such as a water softener. A pair of rotatable, slotted, circular disks connected to rotate with each other are located in a pair of aligned interconnected cylindrical housings. Rotation of the disks controls the flow of liquid through various paths in the valve. Clamps and clips are provided securing together the parts of the assembled valve.

Abstract: A bypass valve for directing a supply flow either through a treatment tank to the distribution system, or for bypassing the treatment tank and directing the supply flow through the valve directly to the distribution system. In the bypass position, the treatment tank may be physically removed from the bypass valve, the bypass valve serving as a disconnect. While in the bypass position, the valve may be actuated to pressurize the treatment tank from the supply flow.
Abstract: A wye-delta open transition motor starter provided with a leading phase monitor and a method of using the same such that transient currents during the open transition are limited to acceptable magnitudes.
