  • Patent number: 6807281
Abstract: A loudspeaker apparatus includes a modulator for frequency-modulating an audio signal to a signal of a frequency band and an ultrasonic generating device adapted to be driven by the output signal of the modulator. The modulator frequency-modulates the audio signal into a first signal modulated on the basis of a an ultrasonic frequency and a source signal and a second signal modulated on the basis of the ultrasonic second frequency and an inverted version of the source signal. As the ultrasonic generating device is driven by the modulated signals, it emits an ultrasonic wave of a first frequency and an ultrasonic wave of a second frequency and the frequency component corresponding to the difference of the two frequencies provides audible sound. Since the ultrasonic generating device emits ultrasonic waves, an ultradirectivity can be realized.

  • Patent number: 6804367
Abstract: A speaker apparatus in which the acoustic sound is radiated by flexural oscillations of a diaphragm in the form of a panel having a substantially flat surface. The speaker apparatus includes a panel-shaped diaphragm the outer rim of which can be oscillated substantially freely at least in the direction along the diaphragm thickness and at least one driver unit constituting an oscillation source secured to the diaphragm surface for imparting oscillations to the diaphragm. The diaphragm is set into flexural oscillations by oscillations applied from the driver unit driven on the basis of the playback input signal. By flexurally oscillating the diaphragm to radiate the acoustic sound, optimum frequency response characteristics can be obtained over a wide frequency range from the low to high frequency range. Moreover, the acoustic sound of optimum sound quality may be radiated in a state of minimum sound pressure level fluctuations over a frequency range from the low to high frequency range.

  • Patent number: 6804454
Abstract: The output device generates the PN code string every second chip interval with reference to the video sync signal, and spectrally spreads the additional information using this PN code string. The spectrally spread additional information is superimposed on the video signal every second chip interval and outputted. Upon receiving the video signal, in the recording device for recording the video signal on a recording medium, the video signal component is canceled each other between the video signal component in the chip interval on which the additional information is superimposed and the video signal component in the chip interval on which the additional information is not superimposed because of the correlation of the video signal in the horizontal direction, and only the additional information is extracted.

  • Patent number: 6804209
Abstract: In a wireless transmission control method for controlling wireless communication access among a plurality of communication stations via wireless transmission of a control signal from a central control station to a terminal station, a communication station selected as the central control station judges a station with which each terminal station in a wireless network is capable of directly making communication. When it is detected that each terminal station is capable of directly making communication with a communication station having many more stations than those directly making wireless communication with the central control station, processing for changing the detected terminal station to the central control station is performed. Thus, when the control station is set and the access management of wireless communication is carried out under the control of the control station, the control station can be selected easily and satisfactorily.

  • Patent number: 6804188
Abstract: An absolute time area is expanded by using an area of relatively low importance such as zero-data area and/or relative time area or the like in a Q channel in a sub-code in a recording format of a CD. Thus, an absolute time expression which can cope with a disc having a large capacity or the like can be performed. An absolute time expression is performed in a manner such that a digit of “100 minutes” is BCD expressed by using lower 4 bits in the 8-bit zero-data area ZERO. Thus, the absolute time of up to 999min59sec74frame can be expressed. A digit of “hour” is also expressed by using the lower 4 bits in the zero-data area. For example, identification information showing that a disc is a high density optical disc of large capacity is expressed by using the upper 4 bits in the zero-data area ZERO.

  • Patent number: 6801663
Abstract: Communication data including actually-photographed pictures is provided. The communication data consists of text data such as a sentence input by a user and a plurality of still pictures obtained by taking a picture of the user a plurality of times. Because the communication data includes visual information provided by a picture of a user, the communication data can more stimulate a user who receives the communication data than text-base communication data can. Furthermore, it is possible to represent a motion using a plurality of still pictures thereby transmitting a large amount of information. Because the motion is represented using only a plurality of still pictures, the data size is much smaller than is required to represent a motion using a moving picture.

  • Patent number: 6801490
Abstract: Audio data of 20 bits is separated into first data of upper 16 bits and second data of lower 4 bits. EFM modulation data is formed from the first data. A laser beam is on/off controlled in correspondence to the logic level of channel data obtained by NRZI modulating a serial data train. The first data, therefore, is recorded in a manner similar to the case of a compact disc. Each pit is controlled so as to have a displacement in the right/left direction for the track center in accordance with the second data and the deviated pit is formed. When data is recorded by the displacement of the pit, since a high frequency component of a tracking error signal changes upon reproduction, the second data can be extracted from the tracking error signal.

  • Patent number: 6798600
Abstract: A recording medium reproducing apparatus includes a mechanical deck, a lid body, a first moving member, a second moving member, and a synchronization member. The mechanical deck has one end turnably supported by a chassis and the other end having a recording medium insertion port. The lid body is movable between a lid close position and a lid open position. The first moving member turns the mechanical deck between a reproducing position and an ejection position. The second moving member moves the lid body from the lid close position to the lid open position. The synchronization member controls the first and second moving members in synchronization with each other such that the lid body is moved inside the housing by the second moving member and the mechanical deck is turned to the ejection position by the first moving member to allow the recording medium insertion port to be directed outwardly.

  • Patent number: 6795509
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of receiving a spread-spectrum signal in a radio communication terminal device having a plurality of demodulators for demodulating a received spread-spectrum signal, comprising the steps of detecting when at least one of a plurality of demodulators is temporarily unable to properly demodulate the received spread-spectrum signal, determining whether or not there is a demodulator which is not being used other than the at least one of the demodulators, and continuing a demodulating process of the at least one of the demodulators, if there is a demodulator which is not being used. Thus, according to the present invention, the time in which the demodulator is unlocked is minimized, and a stable, high-quality signal can be received.

  • Patent number: 6795004
Abstract: A signal amplifier apparatus adapted for carrying out delta-sigma modulation of an input signal to carry out pulse width modulation (PWM) of that signal, to obtain a PWM signal, and to amplify this PWM signal so that a signal of a predetermined magnitude is obtained, wherein the signal amplifier apparatus includes a correction circuit for correcting an output of a quantizer provided in a delta-sigma modulation device. The correction circuit is installed in a feedback path with respect to the input side from the quantizer or immediately before a pulse width modulator to thereby correct distortion taking place in the amplifier. In addition, the signal amplifier apparatus invention compares PWM signals at the input and the output of the amplifier to correct the output of the quantizer that is provided in the delta-sigma modulation device, so as to cancel distortion taking place in the amplifier in accordance with respective rising time difference and falling time difference to thereby correct distortion.
