  • Patent number: 6968062
Abstract: This invention is directed to a transmitting apparatus adapted for carrying out transmission of audio signals by using infrared rays and a reproducing apparatus using a headphone device adapted to receive audio signals transmitted from the transmitting apparatus to reproduce them. The transmitting apparatus allows digital audio signal to undergo time axis compression every unit time period, and to repeat the same contents to transmit such repetitive signals by infrared rays. The headphone device comprises a light receiving element for receiving infrared rays, and a memory adapted so that valid signals of the received repetitive signals are written thereinto and the written signals are caused to undergo time axis expansion and are read out therefrom to allow the signals which have been read out from the memory to undergo D/A conversion to deliver the signals thus obtained to speaker units of the headphone device to reproduce them.

  • Patent number: 6958045
Abstract: A gait detection apparatus includes a microphone for picking up low-frequency-band sounds which are transmitted through the body of a pedestrian while walking and an analyzer for performing analysis. Accordingly, the gait of the pedestrian is detected. It is also possible to distinguish the gait pattern on the basis of the stance-phase time of a foot sole, the signal intensity, etc. The gait detection apparatus can accurately estimate the step length on the basis of a detected gait cycle, the height of the pedestrian, and signals detected during walking. On the basis of low-frequency-region sounds picked up by the microphone while the pedestrian is walking, the pedestrian can be identified.

  • Patent number: 6956749
Abstract: A switching power supply circuit includes a converter transformer in which an output obtained by switching a direct current voltage of a converter through resonance is transmitted from the primary side to the secondary side. The switching power supply circuit further includes, on the secondary side of the converter transformer, a secondary step-up winding wound on a portion of a core together with a primary winding, and a low voltage secondary winding wound on another portion of the core. On the secondary side of the converter transformer, an alternating voltage obtained from the step-up winding is utilized to produce a direct current high voltage, and an alternating voltage obtained from the low voltage secondary winding is utilized to produce a direct current low voltage. Consequently, two different direct current outputs including the direct current high voltage and the direct current low voltage are obtained from the converter transformer.

  • Patent number: 6957359
Abstract: If an incidental interruption of power supply occurs in a system, an apparatus and method is provided that a status immediately before the interruption of power supply can be stored. A request for a status-storing process is outputted from an application to a check point manager in a module. A request for an execution of a snap shot output to components, such as the application, a device driver and the like, is outputted to the manager. A sequence at this time is based on an sequence recorded in a status-storing database. The sequence represents a dependence relation between the components. When each component receives the request for the snap shot output, a function existing in a particular address for each component is read out and the component status is outputted as a snap shot file through the manager to a non-volatile memory.

  • Patent number: 6954632
Abstract: A home network system that makes it possible to build a network with assured security, wherein network users need not have security expertise. For access attempts offered from a home node 21-1 in a community area network 5-1 toward an outside public network 1 through a path N2, a security server 11-1 need not execute an authentication process. The home node 21-1 rejects access attempts directly transferred from the public network 1. The security server 11-1 executes the authentication process for an access attempt transferred from the public network 1 through a path N42. When the authentication is successful, connection of the access attempt to the home node 21-1 through a path N9 is permitted.
