Abstract: A device, system and method permitting on-line explosives-based cleaning and deslagging of a fuel burning facility such as a boiler, furnace, incinerator, or scrubber. A coolant, such as ordinary water, is delivered to the explosives to prevent them from detonating due to the heat of the on-line facility. Thus, controlled, appropriately-timed detonation can be initiated as desired, and boiler scale and slag is removed without the need to shut down or cool down the facility.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a fire safety and prevention method, system and apparatus for preventing flammable fumes or vapors from entering into the pilot light or flame area of a gas hot water or other type of heater and igniting into a fire, which is easily installed at low cost and without special expertise. The preferred embodiment is a simple metallic or similar cylinder placed around the heater, with appropriate vapor-tight seals, which will prevent flammable vapors moving near the floor from entering the heating area and igniting. Also disclosed is a method, system, apparatus and method to incorporate this safety feature into the manufacture of new gas hot water and other heaters.
Abstract: A system includes a telephone and a distant device. The distant device contains one or more telephone numbers which are later to be dialed at the telephone. The telephone numbers are transmitted in coded form, preferably dual tone multifrequency form, from the device to the telephone. The distant device may be a directory assistance service position, a caller ID receiver, and answering machine, a voice or electronic mail system, a terminal operated by a secretary or receptionist, or a simple DTMF keyboard. After the telephone numbers are received, they are stored in any of several memories in the telephone. Later, the user selects one of the entries for dialing and the entry is used for address signaling. Optionally, storage, selection and dialing of a memory entry can be further simplified by using voice processing techniques.
Abstract: A device for removing staples from papers, cloth, or other material without tearing or mutilating the material. The device utilizes a heel of palm to finger gripping action to facilitate a more natural action for removing staples. Staples are extracted by way of a jaw which opposes a wedge-shaped piece to an abutting plate piece, which straightens the staple while simultaneously pulling it out of the paper in a perpendicular direction. The wedge-shaped piece includes a portion where its width and thickness increase to dimensions wherein the sum of the width plus twice the thickness exceeds the total length of the three sides of the staples being removed, thus facilitating complete extraction.
Abstract: An axial gap rotary electric machine in which the conduction path design for disc-shaped armatures is specifically matched to the configuration of the axial magnetic field. The design achieves an axial gap rotary electric machine which is light in weight and capable of high power density per unit weight. The design can be used as an electric generator or an electric motor.
