  • Patent number: 6601327
Abstract: A bidirectional album for the storage of photographs and the like in which typically rectangular photographs may be retained in either a latitudinal or longitudinal vertical orientation. Each page of an album leaf is partially covered by a transparent sheet attached along several of its edges to a leaf page. Additional lines of attachment between the transparent sheet and leaf page are disposed and oriented so as to permit horizontal storage of photos and the like between the attachment lines. Photos and the like can also be stored in a vertical orientation under the sheet adjacent the storage lines.

  • Patent number: 6601867
Abstract: A trailer having a tongue that defines a longitudinal axis and includes a coupler portion. The coupler portion of the tongue can pivot relative to the longitudinal axis, thereby forming an angle between the coupler portion and the longitudinal axis. In a preferred embodiment, the tongue includes a breakaway coupler assembly. The breakaway coupler assembly includes the coupler portion having a distal end adapted to engage a towing vehicle, and a flex-joint pivotally engaged with the coupler portion. This allows the coupler portion to pivot relative to said flex-joint when a predetermined force is placed on the flex-joint, such as in a jack-knife situation.

  • Patent number: 6595894
Abstract: A shift control device for a bicycle is disclosed having a planetary gear assembly for varying the relative angular position between an actuating member and a control member. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the shift control device includes a control member engageable with a ring gear to drive a plurality of planetary gears about a fixed base member. The fixed base member preferably includes a sun gear integrally attached thereto. The planetary gears are preferably carried by an actuating member configured to pull and release a bicycle shift cable. Rotation of the planetary gears results in the tension or release of the bicycle shift cable. The shift control device can include a positioning mechanism for controlling the position of the actuating member relative the base member.

  • Patent number: 6590763
Abstract: An assembly is provided. The assembly includes a casing having a magnet sensitive switch enclosed therein, and a magnet movably associated with the outside of the casing. The magnet is capable of movement relative to the casing. The magnet can be disposed in at least two positions. The at least two positions include a first position where the magnetic field generated by the magnet does not affect the switch, and a second position wherein the magnetic field generated by the magnet does affect the switch.

  • Patent number: 6585474
Abstract: A powered vehicular wheelchair lift with an automatic folding platform assembly for persons who are physically challenged or otherwise have limited mobility. The wheelchair lift is used in conjunction with a vehicle having an opening and a floor. The wheelchair lift includes a mounting assembly mounted to the vehicle floor adjacent to the vehicle opening. A power actuating system includes a pair of hydraulic cylinders mounted on opposite sides of a pair of relative parallelogram linkage structures of the wheelchair lift. The wheelchair lift has a foldable platform assembly which includes two platform plates pivotably connected along their adjacent transverse edges, where the platform assembly moves from a stowed position inside the vehicle to an entry position at the vehicle opening and inversely (i.e., from the entry level position to the stowed position), and moves the platform assembly between the entry level position and a ground level position outside the vehicle and inversely (i.e.

  • Patent number: 6571889
Abstract: A rotary cone bit, having a functionally-engineered surface of this invention, comprises a bit body having at least one leg extending therefrom, and a cone that is rotatably disposed on the leg. The cone typically comprises a plurality of cutting elements that project outwardly therefrom. The cutting elements comprises a cermet material selected from the group consisting of refractory metal carbides, nitrides, borides, carbonitrides and mixtures thereof. A functionally-engineered material is disposed over a surface portion of at least one of the cutting elements to form a wear resistant surface thereon. The wear resistant surface has a hardness that is different than that of the underlying cutting element. The wear resistant surface is provided by forming a conformable material mixture by combining one or more powders selected from the group consisting of cermets, carbides, borides, nitrides, carbonitrides, refractory metals, Co, Fe, Ni, and combinations thereof, with an applying agent.

Abstract: A folding disposable razor is disclosed having a razor head and a flexible razor body attached to the razor head. The razor body preferably includes a first cover panel and second cover panel, each panel hingedly attached to an opposite end of a first hinge portion. In a storage configuration, the first cover panel and second cover panel fold relative to the first hinge portion such that the first and second cover panels are substantially parallel to each other and define a storage area therebetween. The first and second panels are preferably fastened together by interlocking members. The razor body also includes first, second and third section extending longitudinally along the razor body, the first and third sections hingedly attached at opposite ends of the second section. In an operating configuration, the first and third sections being folded relative to the second section such that the first and third sections form a razor handle.
