  • Patent number: 6122205
Abstract: A system for reading a memory cell of a memory array at voltage levels lower than an erased threshold voltage of the memory array. The system uses a voltage regulator which is coupled to the memory array for charging a desired row of the memory array to a supply voltage. The voltage regulator is further used for clamping the desired row at a voltage level which is no higher than a maximum programmed threshold voltage of the memory array. The voltage regulator is able to perform these functions while consuming no DC current. A voltage booster is coupled to the voltage regulator and to the memory array. The voltage booster is used for raising the voltage level of the desired row to a voltage above the maximum erased threshold voltage of the memory cell. This allows the memory cell to be read at voltage levels which are lower than the threshold voltage of the memory array.

  • Patent number: 6072346
Abstract: The present invention provides a level sensitive circuit connected to the output portion of a register, which synchronizes an asynchronous input to a clocked network driven by the CPU system clock. The level sensitive circuit ensures that the output of the synchronizing register will always be a definite binary signal, i.e. logical 0 (ground, or absence of voltage) or logical 1 (voltage). The present invention not only minimizes the occurrence of a metastable condition, but also recognizes that metastability may occur. The present invention is optimized to prevent metastability and includes a synchronizing latch having an output circuit with a feedback mechanism that effectively causes the output voltage of the register to be a valid signal only when any metastable condition has resolved itself. More particularly, the non-inverted output of the register is utilized as feedback to the level sensitive circuit.

  • Patent number: 6035391
Abstract: A system for processing a floating point instruction includes a stack, virtual registers, a stack pointer pointing to one of the virtual registers as top of stack, physical registers, and a reference table mapping the virtual registers to the physical registers, entries of the reference table pointing to physical register locations. An instruction unit generates a plurality of instructions, and a decode unit having a plurality of decoders receives the plurality of instructions from the instruction unit, respectively. The decode unit decodes the plurality of instructions and determines whether any one of the instructions contains a floating point instruction including a floating point exchange instruction. A logic unit is coupled to the reference table and includes a plurality of logic devices coupled to the plurality of decoders in the decode unit, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5845151
Abstract: The present invention is a desktop personal computer (PC) system having peripheral device bus mastering. The system has a Direct Memory Access (DMA) controller for transferring data to and from the memory of the desktop PC system. A hardware state machine is used for programming the DMA controller, generating and sending command signals, and receiving completion status after the transfer of data is complete. A bus controller is used for implementing a memory data transfer request from the DMA controller means and said hardware state machine means. A device controller, either a Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller or an Infrared Data Association (IrDA) controller, is used for receiving and responding to the command signals from the hardware state machine means, transferring data to and from the DMA controller means, and generating and returning a completion status to the hardware state machine means after the transfer of data is complete.

  • Patent number: 5809333
Abstract: The present invention is a desktop personal computer (PC) system having peripheral device bus mastering. The system has four main elements: a Direct Memory Access (DMA) controller, a hardware state machine, a bus controller, and a device controller. The device controller may be an IDE hard disk controller which is able to generate long streams of data in an intermittent fashion wherein any single stream of data is targeted to a number of different host memory locations. The device controller may also be an ECP parallel port controller which interfaces with a number of different peripheral devices over a parallel bus wherein each peripheral device appears to the system as a separate and independent data path.

  • Patent number: 5771767
Abstract: A miter attachment capable of use on radial saws, table saws, drill presses, router tables, and the like, comprises three legs of a triangle. The longest leg constitutes an elongated base member. This base member is pivotally attached at one end to a fence member. The base member has a track in it for engagement by a slider, which is capable of movement along at least a portion of the length of the base member. The slider is pivotally attached to one end of a coupler arm, the other end of which is pivotally attached to the fence member at a point spaced from the end pivotally attached to the base member. As the slider is moved to different relative positions along the length of the base member, the coupler arm causes the angle between the fence and the base member to change.

  • Patent number: 5768571
Abstract: A system for altering a clock frequency to a logic controlling device that controls logic which runs at a fixed frequency slower than a frequency of a computer system running the logic. The system speeds up the clock signal to a logic controller when the logic controller is arbitrating between different operational requests. When the logic controller acknowledges a specific operational request, the clock controller immediately slows the clock signal down in order to allow a command strobe length that the logic device executing a specific operation request requires.

  • Patent number: 5471758
Abstract: A tile measuring device for use in laying tiles is disclosed comprising a support member, a reference member portion, and a measuring member portion. The reference member portion is slidably coupled to the support member for establishing a reference position for the device with respect to a tile and second tile. The measuring member portion is movably coupled to the support member at a distal end thereof for defining a portion for removal from the second tile relative to the reference position. Removal of this undesired portion from the second tile permits the second tile to fit properly adjacent an obstruction after the undesired portion is removed.

  • Patent number: 5473050
Abstract: A method of producing denatured bovine serum albumin (BSA) milk products is disclosed which provides a container for containing the milk products and a source of heating the container for a period of time and within a certain temperature range sufficient for producing the denatured BSA milk products without substantially diminishing either the flavor or the nutritional value of the milk products. It appears that the consumption of denatured BSA milk products, as opposed to consumption of non-denatured BSA milk products, will tend to reduce the likelihood of a person acquiring Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus (IDDM), atherosclerotic vascular disease, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, pernicious anemia, and other human autoimmune diseases.
