  • Patent number: 5457649
Abstract: A semiconductor device used as a semiconductor memory device is disclosed which is made of an amorphous silicon material that provides either a "1" or "0" memory state when the amorphous silicon material is in a non-conduction or insulating state and a "0" or "1" memory state when the amorphous silicon material is transformed, by use of a breakdown voltage applied to electrodes coupled thereto, into a conducting state. The amorphous silicon material is located adjacent to a doped semiconductor region of a semiconductor substrate separated only by a relatively thin primarily metal ohmic contact. The resulting semiconductor structure for the semiconductor device or semiconductor memory device is primarily a single level metalization type structure. A write-once, read-only semiconductor memory array is also disclosed which uses, as each memory cell of the array, one of the disclosed semiconductor memory devices.

  • Patent number: 5456627
Abstract: An axially rotating circular polishing pad is conditioned by a rotating end effector that has an abrasion disc in contact with a polishing surface of the pad. The end effector moves along a radius of the polishing pad surface at a velocity that varies to compensate for locations on the polishing pad surface having linear velocities that are directly related to their respective radii. A desired contact force is maintained between the end effector and the polishing pad surface.

  • Patent number: 5452983
Abstract: An apparatus stores battery packs for battery powered vehicles, and provides a fast and easy way to change a discharged battery pack for a fresh battery pack. The vehicle is backed up to the platform of the apparatus, and a bridge piece spans the gap between the platform and the vehicle. The operator then uses a pneumatic forklift to lift the battery pack in the vehicle on a cushion of air. This allows the operator to easily move the battery pack from the vehicle, across the bridge piece, and across the platform of the apparatus to a storage location. The operator can then use the pneumatic forklift to move a fresh battery pack from a different storage location to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 5451791
Abstract: The output of a mechanical/chemical water filter(s) is conveyed through tubes transparent to ultraviolet radiation disposed in proximity to a source of ultraviolet radiation having the capability of disinfecting the water flowing through the tubes. Each of the opposed ends of the tubes is supported within a cylindrical cavity of a support member and retained in sealed engagement by a tube circumscribing O-ring clamped about the tube by a plate detachably attached to the support member. Passageways within the support member channel the water into or out of the respective tube end. The source of ultraviolet radiation is secured to opposed support members in close proximity to the tubes to enhance the bacteria, virus and micro organism killing capability of the ultraviolet radiation source.

  • Patent number: 5451105
Abstract: Self-supporting apparatus and methods therefore are disclosed for repeatedly agitating an aerosol canister such as an aerosol canister of paint. The apparatus includes a tubular member for retaining a canister of paint. Additionally, a cap is forced upon the top end of the canister in order to force the bottom of the canister against a rotating cam member. As the cam member rotates, the canister and the contents therein are agitated.

  • Patent number: 5443101
Abstract: A modular electromechanical press apparatus and method for using such an apparatus for trimming excess portions from a leadframe strip package having a semiconductor chip thereon and for forming leads of the leadframe extending from the semiconductor chip is disclosed. The apparatus provides an electric motor for driving a plurality of coupled shafts. Two of the shafts include flywheels for reducing the load on the motor once the shafts reach steady state rotational velocity. In addition, each of these two shafts are provided with a one stroke clutch, so that upon activation of the clutches, one shaft moves a leadframe strip into proper position, and the other shaft drives a tool at the proper time to execute the desired trimming or forming operation. The unique arrangement of the components of the apparatus provides maximum power in a minimum size unit that can easily be incorporated into an in-line system for producing semiconductor packages.

  • Patent number: 5438743
Abstract: A bar has a slot with the shank of a pin of a hinge therein. The slotted bar is connected to one end of a force transfer bar, the other end being connected to one end of a lever bar. Bottom surfaces of the slotted bar and the force transfer bar subtend an obtuse angle. Top surfaces of the force transfer bar and the lever bar subtend an obtuse angle. An anvil is connected to the lever bar. When the pin is being installed in the hinge, a retention bar bears against the top of the head of the pin. Force from an air hammer is transferred via the anvil through the lever, transfer and retention bars to the top of the head of the pin. When the pin is being extracted, the force is transferred through the slotted bar to the bottom of the head.

  • Patent number: 5437576
Abstract: A combination bowling pinspotter and pinspotter control chassis system is disclosed which provides a bowling pinspotter having circuitry for permitting the spotting of bowling pins and an all solid state pinspotter control chassis coupled to the pinspotter for controlling the operation of the pinspotter. The all solid state pinspotter controller provides circuitry for executing a short strike cycles. In addition, the pinspotter controller secures power to a back end motor of the pinspotter in order to conserve the energy consumed by the back end motor. The pinspotter controller provides circuitry coupled to a remote control console for permitting the pinspotter to complete a current cycle prior to executing a shut down command for the pinspotter from the remote control console. In addition, the all solid state pinspotter controller retains status and position data for the pinspotter during power interrupts.
