  • Patent number: 7215287
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a new family of antennas with a multiband behaviour, so that the frequency bands of the antenna can be tuned simultaneously to the main existing wireless services. In particular, the invention consists of shaping at least one of the gaps between some of the polygons of the multilevel structure in the form of a non-straight curve, shaped in such a way that the whole gap length is increased yet keeping its size and the same overall antenna size. Such a configuration allows an effective tuning of the frequency bands of the antenna, such that with the same overall antenna size, said antenna can be effectively tuned simultaneously to some specific services, such as for instance the five frequency bands that cover the services AMPS, GSM900, GSM1800, PCS1900, UMTS, Bluetooth™, IEEE802.11b, or HyperLAN.

  • Patent number: 7200096
Abstract: A method and apparatus for modulating multilevel data arrays to make them suitable for storage in multidimensional storage media, such as in holographic storage. In order to get a uniform signal of constant energy at the recording plane, first the multilevel data array, Vout, displayed on a spatial light modulator, has frequent transitions between symbols of different levels, and second it has constant energy. The energy is defined as the summation of the values of the symbols in the data array. The first constraint is achieved using V?in=Vin?qM(q, ZO), where ?q stands for the modulo-q addition operation; M(q, Zo) is a data array with randomly distributed symbols of q levels, where q is the number of levels and ZO is the seed used to generate the random multilevel data array.

  • Patent number: 7188064
Abstract: A system and method for coding text data wherein a first group of text data is coded using a Viterbi algorithm using a Hidden Markov model. The Hidden Markov Model computes a probable coding responsive to the first group of text data. A second group of text data is coded using the Viterbi algorithm using a corrected Hidden Markov Model. The Hidden Markov Model is based upon the coding of the first group of text data. Coding the first group of text data includes assigning word concepts to groups of at least one word in the first group of text data and assigning propositions to groups of the assigned word concepts.

  • Patent number: 7180994
Abstract: A telecommunications system includes a front end automation system, an operator services switch, an automated operator, and an automation data server. The front end automation system interacts with a caller in order to recognize a request of the caller and determine a response to the request. The operator services switch, which is inter-operably coupled to the front end automation system, receives a call from the front end automation system, after the front end automation system has recognized the request and has determined the response to the request, and creates billing information relative to the call. The automation data server, which is inter-operably coupled to the front end automation system, passes information about the request and the response from the front end automation system to the automated operator. The automated operator, which is inter-operably coupled to the operator services switch, provides the response to the request to the caller.

  • Patent number: 7167545
Abstract: Information sought, with associated attributes, is stored in the form of data records. Embodiments provide for inquiry of search arguments for several attributes stored in a data record; comparison of the input search arguments with search arguments stored; selection of a number of hits of storage search arguments corresponding to the respective input search argument, for each of the search argument inputs; weighting of the selected search arguments with scores, which weighting indicates the probability with which the respective selected stored search argument agrees with the actually input search argument; selection of suitable data records from the database via the selected number of hits; weighting of the selected data records with overall scores indicating the probability of the respective selected data record agreeing with the actually input search arguments, depending on the scores of the individual selected search arguments; and output of the data record with the highest overall score.

  • Patent number: 7159027
Abstract: A method and device are disclosed for optimizing use of a plurality of different approaches to communicating data. The device includes a plurality of different components, each component capable of being utilized by the device in communicating data with other devices in the network. Each component generates, when an opportunity for communicating data occurs, a decision relating to the communication using a distinct rule set. A decision handler, coupled to the components, generates a final decision relating to the communication of data based upon each decision generated by the components and upon the correctness of prior decisions generated by the components. The correctness of the final decision is used subsequently in generating additional final decisions.
