Abstract: In proteomic research, it is often necessary to screen a large number of polypeptides for the presence of stable structure. Described herein are methods (referred to as MALDI MS-HX and SUPREX) for measuring the stability of proteins in a rapid, high-throughput fashion. The method employs hydrogen exchange to estimate the stability of quantities of unpurified protein extracts, using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry. A method of quantitatively determining the stability of a test protein under native conditions is disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for adjusting the height of a wheel, particularly a caster wheel, in relation to a structure such as a mower deck of a lawnmower includes a frame member, a hollow guide member, a transverse element, and a lever. The frame member is interconnected between one or more caster wheels and the structure. The frame member includes an angled section disposed along an angled adjustment direction. Spaced recesses are formed in the angled section and arranged along the adjustment direction. The guide member and transverse element are attached to the structure. The angled section is slidable through the guide member. The lever is pivotably connected to the transverse element and includes a locking element. By pivoting the lever, the locking element can be brought into engagement with a selected one of the recesses to fix the angled section at a desired position relative to the guide member and thus the height of the structure relative to a ground surface over which the caster wheel or wheels roll.

Abstract: The invention relates to a DDR memory and to a storage method for storing data in a DDR memory having a plurality of memory cells which each have a prescribed word length, in which a serial data input is used to read in serial data on a rising or falling edge of the data clock signal, and a serial-parallel converter is used to put together a prescribed number of data items from the data read in to give a prescribed number of words from data words having the prescribed word length.
To make transferring the data from one synchronization area to another synchronization area, and resynchronization thereof, more reliable, the invention involves an interface memory copying the at least one data word from the serial-parallel converter upon receipt of a copy signal which is synchronous with the data block signal and outputting it to a bus upon receipt of an output signal which is synchronous with the system clock signal.

Abstract: A method utilizes sputter transport techniques to produce arrays or layers of self-forming, self-oriented columnar structures characterized as discrete, single-crystal Group III nitride posts or columns on various substrates. The columnar structure is formed in a single growth step, and therefore does not require processing steps for depositing, patterning, and etching growth masks. A Group III metal source vapor is produced by sputtering a target, for combination with nitrogen supplied from a nitrogen-containing source gas. The III/V ratio is adjusted or controlled to create a Group III metal-rich environment within the reaction chamber conducive to preferential column growth. The reactant vapor species are deposited on the growth surface to produce single-crystal MIIIN columns thereon. The columns can be employed as a strain-relieving platform for the growth of continuous, low defect-density, bulk materials.
