  • Patent number: 3961706
Abstract: A combined packer and display carton comprises a multi-sided tuck end carton having a bottom closure and a tuck flap hinged to the top of the front panel. The tuck flap is connected to the adjoining side walls by triangular tabs including diagonally extending fold lines to web connect the side walls to the top panel. A weakened line of separation extends from the center of the side walls and across the front panel. When separated along this weakened line, and removing the carton contents, the upper portion above the weakened line of separation can be folded back to line the inner surfaces of the side walls and rear wall with a printed display surface to provide a display when the carton contents are replaced.

  • Patent number: 3957196
Abstract: A three dimensional corner pad for shipping containers or the like and blank for making same, wherein a sheet of paperboard is folded about a center fold line which has spacer tabs cut on either side thereof and which is folded at right angles so that these tabs extend outwardly from the fold line to space two inner panels away from two outer panels which are formed by reverse folding same sheet and bring them together. The tabs serve to space the inner panels from the outer panels, and to provide rigidity and cushioning strength to the pad.

  • Patent number: 3953273
Abstract: Method for forming visual display packages from blanks in which a plastic film covers a window region in the package, and in which a tab formed as part of the blank extends into the window region to support an article to be contained in the package and serve as a location for product codes and symbols or other information. At least one pocket is formed in the plastic film to receive an article prior to closing the package. The tab is rotated outward, and when the tab is located adjacent to the transverse axis fold line of the blank it assists in making the completed package free-standing. The tab may be bonded to a portion of the plastic film by a heat responsive thermo-plastic coating on the tab.

  • Patent number: 3934719
Abstract: A display carton for deformable dispensing tubes in which the tube is oriented with the cap down in an opening formed in the front of the carton, with an inwardly folded flap at the bottom thereof on which the tube cap rests. The crimped base of the tube is held in position between opposed sections of the front of the carton above the opening, the opposed sections formed by a line cut and separated to exert a shearing force on the crimped end of the tube. Also disclosed is a locking flap positioned to restrain the crimped end of the tube from moving inward by holding the tube in position in the carton.

  • Patent number: 3934791
Abstract: Sealed carton closure and method for making same particularly adapted for paperboard cartons having inwardly foldable flaps where the carton is designed to contain material which is subject to sifting or leaking out of the carton. A first end closure flap is folded into position over the entire opening and a band of adhesive is placed across each side of the first flap with the adhesive extending onto the adjacent flaps which are then folded inwardly to create a sealed end with a fourth flap folded on top of the first folded flaps. A third band of adhesive may be used to hold the fourth flap in position and provide additional sealing qualities.

  • Patent number: 3932105
Abstract: Equipment and process for lining an assembled carton tray made from foldable paperboard or similar material with a thermo-plastic film by use of a vacuum applied in a recessed mold containing the tray. The tray and mold are moved beneath a sheet of film which is heated or a hot sheet of film extruded over the top of the tray. The film must be severed around the edges of the tray after the lining is drawn. A tray may be used with the lid laid back so that the inner facing surface of the lid is also coated with the film. In so doing, a later seal may be formed between the lid and the tray or use of the two films contacting around the edges of the tray.
