  • Patent number: 7910564
Abstract: The present invention relates to the IL-12p40 subunit mutant gene which can produce IL-12 (interleukin 12) of human and mouse origin with high activity, the expression vector including above mutant gene and the use of them to DNA vaccine adjuvant. Particularly, it relates to IL-12p40 mutant gene which inhibits the secretion of IL-12p40 but normally secretes active IL- 12p70 by making mutation at Asn-222 (human) or Asn- 220 (mouse) amino acid of IL-12p40, which acts as a competitive inhibitor of active form of IL-12, IL-12p70. Therefore, the IL-12p40 mutant gene of the present invention can be useful for DNA vaccination and gene therapy against various diseases, for example, AIDS, hepatitis C or hepatitis B, cancer, influenza, tuberculosis and malaria, which essentially require cellular immune responses for their therapy.

  • Patent number: 7798081
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a bottom thread supply device for sewing machines. The bottom thread supply device of the present invention includes a light source (500) and a light receiving sensor (110). When the light source (500) radiates light onto a bobbin (300), around which a bottom thread is wound, if there is no remaining thread, the light receiving sensor (110), which is disposed in a central portion of a rotary hook (100), detects the light, thus generating a signal to let a user know that there is no remaining thread. As such, when there is no remaining thread, the present invention automatically lets the user know this thanks to the operation of the light receiving sensor, thus preventing unproductive or defective sewing, thereby increasing productivity and preventing economic loss.

  • Patent number: 7722887
Abstract: The present invention relates to detoxified and immunologically active proteins (“mutant LTs”) having mutated amino acid sequences of heat-labile enterotoxin of E. coli, DNA sequences encoding the mutant LTs, recombinant expression vectors comprising the DNAs, recombinant microorganisms transformed with the recombinant expression vectors, process for preparing the mutant LTs and pharmaceutical application of the said protein as immunogenic antigens for vaccination and as adjuvants for anti-body production. In contrast to wild-type LT, the mutant LTs did not induce any toxic activities. The mutant LTs elicited high and comparable levels of anti-LT antibodies when delivered either intragastrically or intranasally, inducing systemic and local responses in serum and fecal extracts. Thus, they might be useful for the development of a novel diarrheal vaccine in humans and animals.
