  • Patent number: 4170036
Abstract: An article of jewelry consists of first and second lengths of electrically conductive wire with a light emitting diode connected across a first set of the free ends of the wire lengths. A restraining diode is connected across the lengths of wire in close proximity to but inwardly of the first set of free ends. The restraining diode is electrically connected in opposition to the current flow through the light emitting diode. A linear integrated oscillator circuit and a low voltage power source are connected across the other set of free ends of the lengths of wire to provide the flashing circuit for the light emitting diode.

  • Patent number: 4120371
Abstract: An extension platform for a beam balance scale and the combination of such a platform with a beam balance scale. The extension platform includes a generally planar upper surface and a lower surface having a grid of reinforcing ribs formed thereon subdividing the lower surface into a plurality of compartments. The lower surface is given a seating projection which depends therefrom and is configured and dimensioned to snap in place over the peripheral rim of the load-receiving platform of a beam balance scale of preselected size. The beam balance scale is thus rendered more accurate when used in the weighing of fibrous low bulk density materials.

  • Patent number: 4042251
Abstract: A safety device for lawn mowers includes an elongated frame assembly having a pair of laterally spaced leg elements connected by a bight section. A plurality of ground anchoring elements depend from the bight section and are adapted to be selectively affixed in the ground to prevent rolling of the mower. The device includes clamping plates for fixedly securing the assembly to the handle of a lawn mower in angular relation thereto such that the ground anchoring elements are out of contact with the ground during normal operation of the mower and the mower is pivotable upon its rear wheels in an emergency to thereby shift said leg elements into a position substantially perpendicular to the ground and drive the ground anchoring elements into the ground to prevent rolling of the mower.

  • Patent number: 4037638
Abstract: An emergency kit for simultaneously equalizing the inflation pressure in the four tires of a motor vehicle and in the spare tire thereof. Four lengths of flexible tubing are interconnected by tee couplings. One end of three of such lengths of tubing is given a coupling for connection with the inflation valve of a tire whereas the other length of coupling has such a coupling at each end. A foot operable diaphragm pump is connected in one length of tubing. SUBACKGROUND OF THE INVENTIONThe present invention relates to kits for equalizing the pressure in and inflating the tires of a motor vehicle. More particularly the invention relates to a kit for simultaneously equalizing the pressure in all four tires and in the spare tire and for increasing the inflation tire in the four tires.Devices for equalizing the pressure in the tires of a motor vehicle and for transferring inflation air from a spare tire to one or more deflated tires of a motor vehicle have been known heretofore.

  • Patent number: 4037567
Abstract: A water heating system includes a boiler which is connected with a source of water supply for receiving water under pressure. An exhaust flue is connected to the boiler for the discharge of gaseous products of combustion. A pair of concentrically arranged coils is positioned within the exhaust flue and is connected with the conduit feeding water to the boiler. A recycle loop is thus provided for withdrawing a minor portion of the water being fed to the boiler and for recycling same at a higher temperature to the feed conduit. The water circulates within the loop by natural connection.

  • Patent number: 4037357
Abstract: A jumping toy includes a base member which is surmounted by a simulated animal or insect. A clockwork is connected through a gear train with a movable shaft which carries a spring-biased thrust rod. The movable shaft mounts a gear which is maintained in engagement with a fixed gear rack. Activation of the clockwork urges the thrust rod against the bias of the spring, and another gear carried by the movable shaft is cyclically engaged and disengaged by a sector gear and caused cyclical oscillation of the thrust rod and the development of sufficient force against a support surface to cause the toy to jump upwardly of the surface.

  • Patent number: 4034895
Abstract: A bread storage and dispensing device consisting essentially of a housing which is provided with front and rear doors and a bread ejecting mechanism. The housing contains an inclined bread supporting surface in the interior, and the ejector mechanism includes a rotatable shaft which, upon rotation, ejects a slice of bread positioned closest to the front door and automatically positions itself between the next two slices of bread so that upon rotation of the shaft another slice of bread is ejected from the device. The bread supporting surface within the housing is inclined at an acute angle relative to the horizontal so that the slices of bread are stored in substantially upright position.

  • Patent number: 4034640
Abstract: A programmable piano has a keyboard in which each of the keys has a transparent window and a rotatable roller is mounted beneath the keyboard such that the surface of the roller directly beneath each of the keys is visible through the transparent window thereof. A sheet of music is carried by the roller and has a progression of notes thereon which are representative of a musical composition. A motor drives the roller and thereby presents to the windows of the keys in proper order and at a regulated rate the progression of notes so that a person can play the musical composition by manipulation of the keys selectively in accordance with the notes which appear in the windows.
