    Abstract: Methods and circuits implementing a constant-current/constant-voltage circuit architecture are provided. The methods and circuits preferably provide a charging system that provides current to a load using a fixed current until the load is charged. When the load is charged, the methods and circuits preferably provide a variable current to the load in order to maintain the voltage level across the load. This variable current varies according to the voltage across the load. In one embodiment of the invention, a constant power current may also be used as one of the load charging currents. The constant power current may act as a limit on the charging circuit's power output.

    Abstract: Switching regulator circuits and methods are provided for regulating output voltage that include an adjustable minimum peak inductor current level for Burst Mode in current-mode DC-DC regulators. Minimum peak inductor current level control is achieved during Burst Mode by allowing external control for adjusting the burst threshold level. A single pin can be used to distinguish between forced continuous and Burst Mode as well as set the burst threshold level during Burst Mode, or an alternate method of setting a variable burst threshold level can be implemented in which two pins are used, one for selecting the mode of operation and the other for setting the burst threshold level during Burst Mode. The above principles can be applied to both step-up and step-down regulator circuit configurations, as well as both synchronous switching regulators and non-synchronous switching regulators.

    Abstract: A winder and system for winding wire onto core supports of dynamo-electric cores with translational, rotational and radial motions with respect to a central longitudinal axis of the dynamo-electric core is provided. The radial motion may preferably be provided by an independent assembly. In one embodiment of the invention, the radial motion may be provided by rotating a cam disk which is movably connected to, and causes radial motion of, a pair of rollers. The pair of rollers are mounted on support arms which are connected to a needle for dispensing the wire such that movement of the pair causes similar movement of the needle. In another embodiment of the invention, an inclined way is coupled to a slide portion of the needle. When the inclined way is moved parallel to the axis, it causes a radial motion of the slide portion.

    Abstract: Multiple phase switching regulators with stage shedding are provided. Multiple phase switching regulators of the present invention have a plurality of single phase switching regulators coupled in parallel to an output capacitor. The plurality of single phase switching regulators supply current to a load at a regulated voltage. A comparator monitors the load current and causes one or more of the single phase switching regulators to be OFF at a low load current threshold. At least one of the single phase switching regulators that remains ON increases its output current so that the multiple phase switching regulator output current continues to match the load current. The present invention may include a second comparator that causes additional single phase switching regulators to be OFF at a second low load current threshold that is lower than the first low load current threshold.

    Abstract: The apparatus of the invention enables a two-brake torque limiting device to fix the position of one or more flaps and/or slats on an airplane wing when unplanned or abnormal conditions exist. The two-brake torque limiting device may include a trigger brake, a lock down brake, and a speed-increasing device. The trigger brake may use an electromagnetic brake to apply a braking force to the lock down section. The braking force transferred to the lock down section from the trigger section may be transferred through a speed-increasing device. The speed-increasing device allows for the use of a small and a lightweight electromagnetic brake. The invention also provides a method for reducing asymmetry in the wings of an aircraft using an asymmetry detection device, using a trigger brake, using a speed-increasing gear, and using a lock down brake.
