  • Patent number: 5024782
Abstract: The present invention relates to a zeolite agglomeration process and product. Zeolite particles are blended with a filler and preferably a surfactant and then agglomerated in a rotary agglomerator with a zeolite binder to form an agglomerate with about 5-70 parts by wgt. zeolite and, after drying, excellent mechanical strength and flowability with good solubilization/dispersion in aqueous solution. The zeolite agglomerate is preferably combined into a granular detergent in a second agglomeration step where the zeolite agglomerate is combined with other detergent components and sprayed with a detergent binder, the granular detergent being characterized by uniform density and particle size with minimum segregation and dusting. Both the zeolite agglomeration and detergent agglomeration steps are characterized by energy efficiency.

  • Patent number: 5003225
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for producing microwave radiation wherein a generally stable, high-beta, relativistic electron plasma is formed in a static magnetic field of a suitable enclosure either by an external microwave source or in situ within the plasma by means of at least one pair of steady-state interacting energetic electron beams, a convectively unstable wave then being created in the confined plasma either internally in an oscillator mode or externally in an amplifier mode by means of an external launcher for producing a pulse of relatively intense microwave radiation at a frequency near a local electron gyrofrequency. The above steps or functions are preferably sequentially repeated with sequential pulses of microwave radiation being withdrawn from the enclosure, focused by quasi-optical means and directed toward a target including electronic circuitry, so that the beam of sequential pulses is coupled into the electronic circuitry for developing substantial amounts of energy therein.

  • Patent number: 4957225
Abstract: A replaceable caulking tip is disclosed for use on the tubular nozzle of a caulking cartridge or the like. The tip includes a tubular body which is internally threaded for replaceable engagement on the nozzle. An outlet orifice is formed at the other end of the body with substantial body material surrounding the orifice to permit shaping of the tip, and reshaping if necessary. The orifice is inclined about 12 to 20 degrees, preferably about 15 to 17 degrees, from a plane perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the tip and is of elongated configuration. The body of the tip is preferably formed from a hard material permitting shaping of the body yet facilitating repeated use of the tip, the body material being rounded or faired about the orifice. An indexing notch is formed on the body to assure proper angular alignment of the tubular body during steps of inclining and elongated the orifice in a method of manufacture.

  • Patent number: 4900468
Abstract: Aqueous peroxide bleaching compositions that include surfactant, fluorescent whiteners and dyes are effectively stabilized by the addition of a heavy metal chelating agent and a free radical scavenging agent. Both agents must be present to achieve maximum stability. Particularly preferred chelating agents are the amino polyphosphonates. Particularly preferred free radical scavenging agents are the hydroxybenzenes and especially substituted phenols. Not only is the peroxide oxidizing agent stabilized, but surfactant, fluorescent whitener, and dye as well.

  • Patent number: 4876096
Abstract: Whole grain rice, either white or brown rice, is liquefied and treated with high levels of a glucosidase enzyme and/or a combination with beta-amylase enzyme in a saccharification step. Total enzymatic reaction time is limited to about four hours for both the liquefaction and saccharification steps combined to prevent the development of undesirable off-flavors. The product of the saccharification step is partially clarified to remove substantially all rice fiber, but not other nutritional values and then concentrated to produce a preferred rice syrup sweetener which is cloudy in character and has a solids composition defined as follows:______________________________________ Soluble Complex Carbohydrates About 10 to 70% of solids; Maltose About 0 to 70% of solids; Glucose About 5 to 70% of solids; Ash or Minerals About 0.1 to 0.6% of solids; Protein and Fat About 1 to 3.5% of solids; ______________________________________The rice syrup sweetener of the invention can be dried to produce dried rice sweeteners.

  • Patent number: 4873112
Abstract: A fruit concentrate sweetener and process of manufacture are disclosed wherein the sweetener is formed from a hydrolyzed starch having a dextrose equivalent of about 5 to 25 and a clear fruit concentrate of at least about 40% soluble solids and about 0% insoluble solids to have about 40 to 65% complex carbohydrates, about 35 to 55% simple sugars from the fruit origin and about 0 to 5% nutritional components. The sweetener may be partially or substantially completely deflavorized and may be dried up to about 96 to 99% soluble solids. Further preferred steps of the process facilitate both deflavorization and drying while also yielding a sweetness level generally similar to sucrose with only about 50% simple sugars, the remainder being nutritionally desirable complex carbohydrates. The sweetener may be included in a variety of sweetened food and beverage products.

  • Patent number: 4801544
Abstract: Compositions effective in removing protein, fat and/or starch based stains as well as oil and grease based stains from fabrics comprise organic solvents admixed with surfactants and an enzyme component wherein the enzymes are dissolved in aqueous solution and the aqueous solution is, in turn, dispersed as reversed micelles within the solvent/surfactant mixture. Encapsulating the enzymes in reversed micelles protects them from degradation by the solvents and thereby prolongs the effectiveness of the enzymes for extended periods of time. The total water content of the compositions is kept below 5 weight % so that the compositions' oil and grease stain removal ability remains unimpaired.
