  • Patent number: 4404779
Abstract: A subfloor trenchduct (10) construction in which the side wall members (14, 16) and lid-supporting means (37) are constructed of galvanized steel in order to provide a reduced cross section for the component members and thereby maximizing the availability of internal space within the trenchduct (10) for electric service. The galvanized steel construction obviates larger cross sections previously employed in utilization of aluminum components which detracted from the effective use of internal space of the duct, and the aluminum components required protective coating since aluminum, when exposed to alkaline concrete, experiences deterioration of the components. The lid-supporting means (37) is made vertically adjustable relative to floor level so that prior to pouring of the concrete (66) the lid (30) is accurately located in relation to the floor.

  • Patent number: 4376085
Abstract: In a hydraulic press for briquetting loose powders into green components, a load cell senses maximum compacting force. The maximum compacting force is compared with a compacting standard force known to effect a particular weight and density of compacted briquette. There is next operated a closed-loop servo network which adjusts the peak force to the standard force by varying the initial size of the cavity receiving the loose powders. Should the peak force be greater or less than standard force, an actuating mechanism is energized either to enlarge or diminish the die cavity for receiving the powder. If the peak force is too small, the initial die cavity size is enlarged so that a greater amount of powder is charged to the die cavity. The result is that when the final configuration of the briquette is reached, there will be greater density and greater weight to the briquette, causing it to more nearly approximate a standard briquette weight and density.

  • Patent number: 4365705
Abstract: An apparatus (10) is mounted on a briquetting press (12) and receives briquettes (14) in a magazine (18) which consists of two side rails (22, 24) and a smoothly polished base (28). A sensor (30) determines when the magazine (18) is full and operatively effects, through a programmable controller or microprocessor (not shown), the actuation of a motor (40) to withdraw the base (28) and discharge vertically the row of briquettes (29) from the magazine (18) onto one of a series of pallets (82, 84, 86, 88) transported transversely at a location below the surface of the magazine (18). Pallet position is sensed automatically so that briquettes (29) discharged from the magazine (18) are disposed at a preferred location on the pallet (82, 84, 86, 88). The operations of loading the magazine (18), detecting the magazine (18) as being fully loaded, and discharging the briquettes (29) from the magazine (18) onto a pallet, are coordinated with the movement with the pallets so that loading occurs automatically.

  • Patent number: 4360707
Abstract: An electrodynamic acoustic transducer (54) having two voice coils (50, 52), the coils being addressed by amplified digital signals. The system (12, 60, 54) utilizes a preamplified analog input signal (10) which is supplied to a bifurcated network, one such signal being processed by an inverter (18). The analog signals (42, 44) are compared with triangular waves (38, 40) to effect switched signals (46, 48) that are pulse width modulated signals. The signals (46, 48) are then amplified through impedances (76, 78) and high speed, high current semiconductor switch means (80, 82) so that the amplified digital signals serve as driver means communicated to the separately addressable coilds (50, 52). There is a dynamic balance achieved by separate energization of the coils (50, 52) whereby the diaphragm (97) is positively located in both axial driving directions and is disposed in equilibrium positions by the energization and balancing of the respective coils (50, 52).

  • Patent number: 4343670
Abstract: Apparatus and process for hot-stamping molded plastic containers in which the container is moved past a heated die having a platen with a printing die, the die being floatably movable so that linear uniform pressure is exerted between a confronting container surface and die surface. As the container moves across the die surface, it is rotated so that foil which is pinched between the container and die is transferred onto the surface of the rotatable container. The uniform linear pressure between container and die, transfers foil to the accompaniment of rotation of the container so that defect-free lamination of foil is transferred onto the container surface to form decorative or alpha numeric information. The operation is continuous, with successively spaced containers moving into printing position relatively to the die, where the hot-stamping operation is repeated. Containers are automatically removed after printing, and successive containers supplied either manually or automatically.
