  • Patent number: 4005820
Abstract: In the heating chamber of the furnace are a number of heat-absorbing elements which serve as a thermal storage, absorbing some of the heat which is developed during the regular burning cycle and then releasing such heat for additional heating effect. Stored heat is available for additional and therefore more efficient heating. A control system is used to conserve heat by selectively and automatically opening and closing the stack to prevent heat loss in timed relation with the burning cycle and adapted to provide sufficient purge time. The stack valve opens automatically at the commencement of a burning cycle and thereafter automatically closes after a purge interval. In the event of a power failure, the stack valve automatically closes and reopens when power is restored prior to the commencement of any succeeding burning operation.

  • Patent number: 3971094
Abstract: A paint roller or ceiling brush handle which is specially adapted to fit an individual's grip and accordingly has two curved circumferential surfaces forming two of the opposite gripping surfaces, such surfaces being joined by opposite circumferentially arched surfaces, convexly shaped. Brush handle is proportioned to be of a length substantially equal to an average adult hand width and the handle is proportioned to fit anatomically the grip of the holder.

  • Patent number: 3955435
Abstract: A variable speed drive consisting of a control gear train made up of a central gear which is eccentrically adjustable, an intermeshing walking gear and an overrunning gear form a speed control gear train with the gears connected together by a linkage which includes a hinge connection between the gears. The speed control gear train develops an output speed for the overrunning gear which is a direct function of the degree of the eccentricity of the central gear. The overrunning gear is operatively connected through a second gear train to an output. By controlling the eccentric position of the central gear it is possible, while the gears are running, to control the output speed by simply regulating the eccentric position of the nonrotatable central gear of the speed control gear train.

  • Patent number: 3941382
Abstract: A plurality of marking elements of various shape, color and numerical value are connected together, in a row, by flexible straps. The marking elements are laid on a playing area and are flexible to remain substantially flat against the playing surface area. A basket, made from the particular area of a marking element, gives a score according to the number on the marking element and this is a measure of the difficulty in making a basket from that point. Competitive team scoring can be made by recording the occurrence of baskets and numerical value assigned each basket according to the player's location.

  • Patent number: 3940757
Abstract: A photoconductor gas discharge display is adapted for such rapidly moving images as television pictures by means of the present invention wherein the photoconductive elements (abbreviated as PC elements) are illuminated in advance of the addressing thereof so the impedance of each element will be low at the time of addressing. Time controlled means are provided for causing rows of PC elements to be illuminated in succession and in advance of the addressing thereof. The illuminating of the rows of elements is accomplished by gas discharge chambers disposed adjacent thereto. Each PC element opposite the gas discharge chamber has a photosensitive resistor connected thereto by which voltage signals are applied to the PC element and each PC element must be in illuminated condition for the voltage signal to be effective when applied to the element. The invention functions by pre-illuminations to achieve a sufficiently low impedance level so as to be illuminated by an addressing from a voltage signal.

  • Patent number: 3930567
Abstract: A fluid motor actuator, including a hydraulic cylinder, includes a cam which is extended to become engagable with a cam follower of an extension chute section which is hinged and folded within a first chute section during transport. When the cam engages the follower of the retracted extension chute section, the cam causes the extension section to pivot out of its retracted position so that both chute sections form a unitary elongated chute adapted for receiving and directing the flow of concrete from the bowl of the mixer to the construction site. The extension chute section is retracted when the pour is completed and the cam is moved to non-interfering relation with the chute against the yieldable resistance of a spring.
