  • Patent number: 5000514
Abstract: A miniature rocking chair is composed of five separate, generally planar, interlocking members: two identical side members, a back member having a rear seat support transversely formed thereon, a seat member, and a front seat support and locking member. The back member is attached to the two side members by upward facing openings on its side edges engaging downward facing openings on the back edge of the side members. The seat member is connected to the side members through rearward facing openings which engage a forward facing opening in each side member, the rear edge of the seat member occupying a position atop the rear seat support member. The front seat support and locking member then is inserted within the forward facing opening of the side members, beneath the seat member, to a position where openings formed in its bottom edge are aligned with notches formed in the lower edge of the forward facing opening of the seat member.

  • Patent number: 5000710
Abstract: A deep water exercise belt, which supports the user in deep water in an upright, running position so as to allow vigorous exercise without placing body weight on the legs, involves a waist encircling belt of flexible buoyant material of uniform thickness which is shaped to provide greater flotation at the back of the user. Shaping includes an increased width of the belt on the back while forming the bottom of the belt to avoid hip motion of the user. The belt may be constructed of a chemically cross-linked polyethylene having an extremely fine closed-cell structure. The interior surface of the belt is smoothed so as to provide a suction effect against the body, while the exterior surface may be roughly textured to provide additional resistance to movement through water. A separate band of elasticized material is intertwined through the buoyant belt so as to buckle at the front of the user and hold the exercise belt in close contact with the waist.

  • Patent number: 4977625
Abstract: An under-cuff protective device is formed to be placed and retained between a restraining device, such as handcuffs or leg-cuffs, and the detainee. The device includes a flexible base member of a length to substantially encircle the limb, generally at the wrist or ankle. Two wall members are attached to the outside of the base member in longitudinally spaced relationship, separated so as to permit the restraining device to fit between the wall members and snugly about the base member. The wall members form a wall-like structure which retains the restraining device in place on the base member. A preferred means of forming each wall member is by longitudinally folding a portion of the base member over onto its outside surface and attaching it there. The base member is fastened about the detainee's limb using two flexible connecting straps. Hook and loop fastening means are preferred.

  • Patent number: 4948169
Abstract: A storage apparatus for flatbed trailers includes a storage box which swings out to the side from beneath the trailer bed for loading and unloading. When in an up, traveling position, a lip on the front of the storage box engages a flange of the trailer side rail to support the front of the box, while a U-shaped frame connected to the trailer framework provides support beneath the rear of the box. Two arm members are pivotally mounted between the trailer framework and the sides of the box, and support the box while not in the up position. The pivotal attachments of the arm members to the box are located so that the box is unbalanced with the front biased downwards. Curved rail members, supported by the trailer framework, engage rollers attached to the rear of the box to control its upward movement. Dual-acting air cylinders are pivotally attached between the trailer framework and the arm members.

  • Patent number: 4915120
Abstract: A bonnet for lawn chairs and the like involves a canopy formed of a plurality of flexible, resilient bows, which are maintained in a generally U-shaped configuration, and a flexible covering attached to and interconnecting the bows along a substantial portion of their length. The bows are attached to a chair through two bow assembly bars, each of which have a separate attachment location, in linear spaced relationship, for each bow. Each bow is pivotally connected, with adjustable tension, at its ends between the two bow assembly bars at the separate spaced locations so as to permit each of the bows to be individually pivotable, fore and aft, thereby permitting variation of the canopy coverage and location. The bow assembly bars are removably clamped to the framework on opposing sides of a lawn chair. A flexible line, of less length than the bows, is used to directly interconnect the bow assembly bars so as to restrain the resilient bows to a generally U-shaped configuration.
