  • Patent number: 4679234
Abstract: A telephone cord twist restrainer which is comprised of a rudder-like plate which is attached to a coiled telephone cord by means of slotted holes formed in the plate and by two (2) projections extending from the plate which slidably fit, in opposing directions, within the coils of the telephone cord. The plate extends laterally on a single side beyond the diameter of the coils in lengthwise orientation with the coiled cord, where its extending mass provides stability to the coiled telephone cord both through physical contact at nearby surfaces, and by the location of weight of the plate itself outside of the periphery of the coiled telephone cord. Notches may be formed on the projections so as to provide improved retention within the coiled cord, especially when the coiled telephone cord is extended and stretched out close to its maximum limit.

  • Patent number: 4673165
Abstract: A weed puller is provided which comprises a handle to which are separately attached two (2) rotating, weed grasping prongs. The lower, or ground penetrating, portion of each prong is offset from the top portion thereof, so that when the prongs are rotated about their individual separate vertical axes at the handle, the lower portions of the prongs approach each other in parallel orientation so as to grasp the weed and its roots with essentially evenly applied pressure. The prong rotation is achieved through outward movement of upper ends of the prongs in camming slots formed in a camming member. Such movement is created by pivoting the handle of the weed puller, with the prongs inserted in the ground astraddle the weed, toward an outwardly extending lever member which is rotatingly attached along a horizontal axis at the lower end of the handle, and is rigidly connected to or an extension of the camming member. Continued pivoting of the handle leverages the grasped weed from the ground.

  • Patent number: 4669461
Abstract: A device for administering oxygen to infants during nursing which provides an oxygen flow-directing member, in half-funnel shape, which includes an inlet opening for connection to oxygen-supplying tubing, an internal plate with a plurality of holes for oxygen flow regulation, and a semicircular outlet. The flow-directing member is attached to the nursing source in two configurations, a bottle feeding configuration and a breast feeding configuration. In the bottle feeding configuration, the flow-directing member is attached to the neck of the feeding bottle by a partial neck-encircling foam collar with adhesive tabs. In this configuration, the flow-directing member may rotate about a pair of rivet-like fasteners connected to the foam collar, so as to pivot forwards and backwards on the bottle, for adjustably directing the oxygen flow directing upon the nursing infant's nostrils.

  • Patent number: 4669235
Abstract: A spacing and support construction member for wood frame construction which provides precise positioning and support for cross-members, such as joists and rafters, on their supporting members, and, in addition, provides for pre-nailing positioning of blocking pieces between cross-members, and furnishes supplementary vertical connection and support, the latter having special use in the attachment of rafters. The construction member comprises a center strip, laid longitudinally along support members, from which transversely-oriented perpendicular projections extend to position the cross-members for attachment. Additional projections provide supplementary horizontal, or, when bent about the edge of the supporting member, vertical attachment means for the construction member, permitting direct vertical connection between the cross-member and its supporting member. The projections from the center strip additionally provide edges for the positioning of blocking pieces between the cross-members for attachment.

  • Patent number: 4635953
Abstract: A tow cable with bracket and storage means, which includes a tow cable which is attached to a vehicle by means of a heavy steel bracket to which is welded a cable housing in the form of a flexible tubing of at least the length of the tow cable. The flexible tubing is attached to the undercarriage configuration of the vehicle so as to provide permanent, on-vehicle, protected storage for the cable. An end plate is welded at the end of the bracket with a hole formed therein so as to align with the end of the flexible tubing. A stop sleeve is pressed on the non-extending end of the cable; the hole in the end plate being sized to permit passage of the cable, but not the stop sleeve. A smooth steel slip hook, is attached to the extendable end of the cable. A hook receiving means, such as a circular ring, is welded to the bracket to provide a location for the slip hook when the cable is not in use and is stored in the cable housing.

  • Patent number: 4624380
Abstract: A disposable litter enclosure which, in the preferred embodiment, embodies a moisture resistant box containing, in closed form, cat litter and a pre-formed framework for interconnecting the raised side extensions formed from the top of the box. Alternatively, the framework may be attached to the box or otherwise be available. The framework is a continuous, encircling, rim-like member of rectangular shape with a continuous vertical slot formed in its underside, and, where intended to be packaged within the box, is of less dimension than the closed box. The top edges of the side extensions are slipped into the slot of, and thus engage with, the framework to provide a continuous rigid support connecting the tops of the extended sides. The side extensions of the box, where the framework is packaged therein, are tapered to permit joining at the framework without gaps where adjacent side edges of the side extensions meet.

  • Patent number: 4624204
Abstract: A mast raising and lowering device for sailboats, and particularly sailboats with outboard rudders, which embodies a telescoping pole topped with a roller assembly, the device being attached to the stern of the sailboat where it is used to movably raise and support the mast in a partially elevated position during mast raising and lowering operations. The telescoping pole is attached to the stern of the sailboat by pintle-like pins, which are vertically adjustable on the pole to fit existing gudgeons provided for rudder support and pivoting. The upper section(s) of the telescoping pole is vertically positionable at various extended locations by a pin member. The roller assembly, on the top of the uppermost telescoping pole section, contains a roller member for ease in moving the mast therealong, and may be provided with a pair of flared ears positioned on either side of the roller to aid in receiving and containing the mast. The roller provides a location for retention of the mast during trailering or moorage.

  • Patent number: 4620691
Abstract: A board straightening device which embodies levers to expand a concentric piping arrangement, one end of which is fixed on a joist, rafter stud, or other board supporting member, and the other end is placed against a crooked board, such as decking or siding, which is being nailed across the board supporting member. The device includes a cleated foot for gripping the board supporting member, the foot being attached to a pipe member which fits concentrically with another pipe member to which is attached the head or pushing end of the device. A lever arrangement connecting the two pipe members causes them to relatively displace when a lever handle is pushed toward the device. A head attachment, configured to the shape of the board to minimize damage, pushes against and straightens the crooked board for nailing. Limiting and adjusting means for displacement and leverage may be used.

  • Patent number: 4575189
Abstract: A bicycle reflector safety warning device which embodies reflectors, oriented for viewing from both forward and rearward of the bicycle, on both sides of the bicycle, so as to define the outside dimensions on both sides of the bicycle and to provide a lateral separation basis for the estimation of distance to the bicycle. The device, of sturdy construction, may include a mounting member for secure attachment to the bicycle seat stays; a single helical expansion spring member for flexibility and resiliency; reflector support rods attached helically, by threads, to the spring member for ruggedness and adjustability; and forward and rearward pairs of reflectors.

  • Patent number: 4570517
Abstract: A circular saw blade, having been divided into two sections to permit rapid replacement without having to be removed past the end of the saw arbor, is reconnected and self-interlocked to its own body, thus eliminating any requirement for machined collars or studs for retention or alignment. Interlocking is accomplished by the use of interlocking projections and corresponding recesses in various configurations on the two sections of the split saw blade.

  • Patent number: 4557620
Abstract: A pounce applicator which embodies a hand-sized storage container, a portion of which also serves as the gripping surface, and a replaceable pad unit which includes a core containing a reservoir for pounce and a system of pounce carrying channels, a support screen, a pounce flow limiter, a foam pad and a covering cloth. Included is external access to permit refilling of the reservoir. Enhanced distribution of pounce, particularly for vertical and overhead surfaces, is obtained through the use of an externally pressed bellows-shaped plug which provides increased air pressure internal to the pad unit.
