Abstract: A clamp-on cover for the top of a golf bag provides a vertical hemi-cylindrical shield extending the back of the golf bag in upward direction but preserving a half-circular arc of access to clubs laterally, and a helmet-shaped portion pivoted at the brim to a rear portion of the hemi-cylindrical shield near but not at the top provides for the helmet-shaped portion to rise when opened to either a fully open stable position clear of the club head area or to the half open position at which it serves as a concave, high clearance, overhanging roof which is self-closing, while overlapping and co-acting with the vertical hemi-cylindrical portion to shield against blowing rain.

Abstract: Continuous reaction with immobilized enzyme beads is carried out in an enzymatic reactor providing for continuous reaction accompanied by continuous cleansing of the immobilized enzyme beads and continuous recycling of the cleansed-immobilized enzyme beads for reaction. The reactor comprises a reaction chamber having a screw mounted coaxially within a shell having first and second ends, means at the first end for introducing immobilized enzyme beads and fluid reactant material, means at the second end for removal of product, means at the second end for lifting of immobilized enzyme beads and dropping them through a reaction chamber and means for conveying cleansed immobilized enzyme beads from the cleansing chamber to the means for introducing.

Abstract: An improved metallic security bar system of the type used for windows or patio doors, for improving appearance and feel and for retarding condensation and rust includes an easily installed wooden covering over the metal parts; channel-shaped wooden members are slid laterally on frame sides and tops and bottoms, and rod-holding bars, and covered with wood plates, and the rods are covered by tubular wooden members of sufficient cross-sectional size at the ends to conceal the rod-receiving slots.

Abstract: An improved system of the type having a ball or sphere and within it a remote-control powered vehicle, has provisions for determining vehicle orientation for more efficient control including one or more of: transparent ball portions, color ball portions and forward-illuminating spotlight; ability to store the vehicle with the ball inflated is provided by a mercury switch which turns off power when the vehicle is inverted; angle strips improve traction externally and a soft, semi-inflated ball is used for better internal traction between vehicle and ball wall; charging of vehicle batteries through the ball wall is disclosed.

Abstract: Emergency apparatus in the form of a rescue box for air-lifting survivors from burning high-rise buildings; the rescue box has opposed full-width and full-height doors hinged at the bottom, which act as passenger loading ramps when open as when the rescue box is set down on the roof of a burning building and which on lifting by helicopters is safely held closed by lifting lines proportioned for sharing the load with other lines to the rescue box; each door has a smaller door in it hinged inward at the bottom to facilitate escape into the rescue box when positioned alongside burning buildings, as through windows in the buildings; aerodynamic stabilization for steadying the rescue box during transport and landing is provided by a tail extending from an end of the rescue box; special view limiting and cushioning features are also disclosed.

Abstract: Improved ratchet rifling with a full gain twist is provided in the form of a bore portion having a smooth bore for initially receiving and holding a projectile without marring the projectile followed by gradually emerging ratchet rifling contour with each spin-imparting edge progressively deepening, at least by crest or minor-radius portions "falling" inward toward the axis of the bore and as an alternative by base or major-radius portion increasing in distance from the bore axis, in either case resulting in projectile-seating increasing in predetermined proportion to twist along the barrel.

Abstract: A Christmas tree ornament holding container has an open-side box into which laterally fit a plurality of hold-around shelves into which similarly fit a respective plurality of fold-and-lock drawers, which may have respective conventional design grid separators for the ornaments; finger grip holes for pulling out the drawers may be provided on each end of each drawer; the drawers preferably being symmetrical about the lateral centerline and the longitudinal centerlines.

Abstract: An improved geodesic dome connector of the paired-opposed-arm type with "swept-back arms", angled axially with respect to the central portion, has a central portion in the form of a cylindrical tube; respective adjacent arms of different pairs join the central portion in close proximity to each other preferably, and preferably also have conical taper on the axial ends of the central member, convex on the outer end and concave on the inner end, for fairing-in sheathing applied on the outer and inner faces by attachment to respective elongate members held between the pairs of arms.

Abstract: A garment expander, of the type equipped with a bent sheet metal hook on one flap of the fly opening for hooking through a bent sheet metal eye on the other flap of the flap opening, has at one end a resilient loop which strongly but detachably captures the eye and has at the other end a planar area with a rigid bridge protruding from the planar area in a plane parallel with it for aligning and engaging the trouser hook; when tension is applied the loop may permit the eye to turn slightly within the loop for better trouser appearance; the invention is adapted for high-volume low-cost production with minimum operations.

Abstract: An internal combustion power plant system provides a rotary engine and a rotary fuel/air mixture compressor for the rotary engine on a common driveshaft, coaxially mounting each end and supported between them by a gearbox which synchronizes operation of various ignition and valve and abutment components of the system; compressed fuel/air mixture is supplied to and ignited in a valve-isolated manifold chamber in the rotary engine in successive charges following which each ignited charge is valved radially into one of plural expanding chambers defined by the rotary engine rotor and abutment mechanism, where it urges rotation of the rotor and then exhausts radially; in preferred embodiment the exhaust actuates a parallel fuel-feed which booster pumps fuel/air mixture into the manifold chamber; detail improvements disclosed include designs of runners, abutments, valving and rotary compressor mechanism.

Abstract: A substantially total-needs rack system for extending the uses and the capacity of pick-up trucks provides a basic frame for rigid securance to the cargo area of a pick-up truck body with a matching assemblage of components and accessories that can selectively be installed on the basic frame through use of quick-attach/detach pins; some of the assemblage co-act together, others are usable only singly; among special cargoes that can be carried are panels, ladders, general elongate shape cargo, miscellaneous small items, and lengths of pipe which can be secured in racks by padlocks to prevent loss.

Abstract: A system for use in shampooing the hair and scalp of bed patients provides in a completely biodegradable diposable plastic basin a circular bottom with ringed wall upstanding around it and having at the patient-neck location a first bag sealed along a low wall portion and up the sides thereof, and containing an easily insertable second bag which in turn contains polystyrene granules and which can be adjusted within the first bag to form a water-tight fit around the underside and sides of the patient's neck without sliding friction with the skin of the patient; the second bag can be supplied with any desired quantity of granules necessary to fit a particular patient; a roll-up flat tube of plastic is supplied at one or both sides for draining the basin.

Abstract: An improvement for a system employing a heated iron V-shaped soleplate adapter to lay hot-melt tape in a "V" joint between building wall panels includes coacting subsystems for progressively changing the cross-sectional shape of tape fed in at the front end of the system from flat to "V" shaped and for releasibly retaining tape for preventing it from springing out of alignment at the rear end of the system; a special-shape head at the front end is resiliently mounted and a provision at the rear end keeps the tape retaining member out of the way when not in use.

Abstract: A guide system for a gas cutting torch used to bevel the ends of pipe in preparation for welding includes a circular sleeve with integral spacer bars coacting with a radial screw for fixing the circular sleeve coaxially around a pipe to be bevelled; the sleeve has an end bevelled at the same angle at which the pipe is to be bevelled; an adjustable follower or torch-holding stepped-spool engages the sleeve bevel to reproduce that bevel angle on the pipe end and engages a groove around the sleeve adjacent the sleeve bevelled end for axial constraint of the gas cutting torch; the coaxial circular form of the stepped spool permits a user to rotate a gas cutting torch about the axis of the flame for better maneuverability without disturbing smoothness of cut; the groove structure defines an open "V"-section groove to permit rocking the torch for burning an initial hole adjacent to but clear of the area to be bevelled.

Abstract: A water damage preventer pan has a horizontal support arrangement for an appliance to be set down on but a bottom sloped to a drain, and an unusually sturdy construction; the construction is of unitary plastic and the horizontal support arrangement includes a plurality of blocks inside the perimeter buttressing a rim outside them, both joining a bottom which is wedge-shaped in section so that it can rest flat on a floor but can drain rapidly down a good slope.

Abstract: A high intensity lamp system for fireman's use and similar users provides a specially shaped base with an angle-adjustment of a reflector-equipped high intensity lamp extending from a junction box on the base; the base special shape includes at one end a "J"-section channel hook for hanging the system on a door or the like free of twisting; an arcuate cutout centrally in the edge of "J"-section channel hook provides for hanging the system on a nail or the like; at the opposite end of the base a planar projection of the base beyond the junction box provides for mounting the system by clamping or by slipping into a slot. The junction box receives a twist-lock type electrical supply plug in a socket for power input and provides two output sockets, eliminating need for extra extension cords. Special provisions permit adjusting the angle of the lamp head without danger of burning the hands of the user.

Abstract: A shipborne system for clearing a channel through ice comprises in combination with a prow-mounted icebreaker shape, a giant siphon including an intake leading to an upward passage which inclines to the rear so that ice blocks taken into it at the bow float upwardly and rearwardly where they are discharged, either laterally or over the stern, leaving a broken channel behind the ship for passage of other ships; discharge provisions include underwater discharge and trap-chamber above.

Abstract: An improved hanger for holding and protecting thinwall rectangular-section downspouts provides a rectangular socket of first and second arms held in parallel-spaced relation by a strut for supporting three side portions of a downspout held in the rectangular socket by screws through the arms; extensions of the arms space the downspout held from a building structure or the like to which anti-twist wide stance out-turned feet secure the hanger by conventional fasteners.

Abstract: A casket-installed guard for guarding a body and for shielding against contagion includes a plastic dome with margins having engagement features that can lock the guard in location sealing the viewing opening in the casket but permitting the viewing top to be in either open position or closed position over it; the margins are proportioned for detachable installation under inwardly overhanging edges and second top of the casket so that they are shielded from tampering; one of the margins has provision for securance of the unit by padlock.
