  • Patent number: 4920716
Abstract: A method of installing facing bricks on the surface of an outer building wall including, as a first step, the attachment to the wall of chicken wire provided with parallel ridge configurations. These configurations are positioned to form horizontal barriers in the chicken wire which are spaced far enough apart to receive the facing bricks between them. The bricks are buttered on one side with mortar, then pressed into position between the barriers with their lower edges adjacent the lower of the two flanking barriers. When the mortar sets, grout is applied to the spaces between the bricks to embed the ridge configurations in the chicken wire. The result is a veneered wall having the bricks fastened to the wall surface with mortar and integrated into a cohesive veneer skin, along with the mortar, chicken wire and grout.

  • Patent number: 4918158
Abstract: 1,3-Diethynyladamantane and a method of forming same by brominating adamantane to yield 1,3-dibromoadamantane, subjecting vinyl bromide to Friedel-Crafts alkylation with the 1,3-dibromoadamantane to form 1,3-bis(2,2-dibromoethyl)adamantane and subjecting the 1,3-bis(2,2-dibromoethyl)adamantane to dehydrohalogenation to yield the 1,3-diethynyladamantane. 1,3-Diethynyladamantane can be polymerized to produce strong, thermally stable resins suitable for advanced aerospace structural applications, as matrices for carbon-carbon systems and as electrical insulators. It can also be copolymerized with 1-ethynyladamantane to yield similarly useful resins.

  • Patent number: 4896622
Abstract: A mechanism with one foot pedal for controlling the fore-and-aft attitude of a high-speed boat having the usual cavitation or trim plate. When the foot pedal is depressed the cavitation plate is lowered through an interconnecting assembly of pivoted members to lower the bow of the boat against any upending tendency as it accelerates from a dead stop in the water. As the boat speed increases, release of pressure on the foot pedal causes movement of the cavitation plate to an upper position, wherein it is ineffective to lower the bow, and locking of the plate in that position until the foot pedal is again depressed.

It can also be co-polymerized with 1-ethynyladamantane to yield similarly useful resins.

  • Patent number: 4836531
Abstract: A primary exerciser and cooperating accessory for use by piano players. The primary execiser has an elongate base provided with an elbow stop designed to maintain the elbow of a user in position against rearward or significant sideways movement when the exerciser is in use, and a hand rest spaced ahead of the elbow stop along the elongate base. The hand rest is relatively thin and has a flat upper side sized to permit the forward part of the user's hand to rest on it palm down with the fingers stretched out ahead and the thumb tucked under its rear edge. This hand rest is mounted to slide back and forth from a rear stop position against the resistance of a spring that normally holds it at that position. It is also provided to rotate up and down around a transverse hinge axis near its front end. Additionally, the hand rest is mounted to permit swiveling movement to the right or left around a pivot point in its front portion.

  • Patent number: 4782948
Abstract: A golf bag having a chamber in its base for housing four stabilizing rods. Each of the rods has inturned teeth extending from one end for a portion of its length. A pinion is mounted in the chamber to rotate around an axis coincident with the axial center of the golf bag. The four stabilizing rods are positioned so that their toothed segments mesh with the pinion. The chamber has a sidewall with four openings, each positioned to permit passage of a separate one of the four stabilizing rods. The rods are positioned in parallel pairs, each pair being disposed at 90.degree. to the other pair. The pinion has a shaft affixed to it which extends upwardly through the center of the golf bag to an upper end fitted with a knob.
