  • Patent number: 4311656
Abstract: A method is disclosed for the repairing of extensive damage to plasterboard areas wherein wet plaster will normally not hold in such a large repair area. The method includes the cutting through the paper surface layer of the plasterboard material in an approximately circular shape around the damaged area. The exposed plaster of the plasterboard can then be sanded by such a tool as a power rotating sander such that the plaster within the plasterboard is removed to a predetermined depth. A plate member having a thickness less than this predetermined dimension and preferably on the order of 0.014 inches is then placed over the damaged area within the removed plaster area. This plate member is fixedly secured to the undamaged area of the plasterboard within the defined circular area. The plate member is preferably perforated throughout for ventilation and securement of plaster thereto.

  • Patent number: 4310314
Abstract: A reflected color simulator is disclosed which utilizes a plurality of color discs positioned adjacent to one another wherein each disc includes several individual sections which are interleaved with respect to the other color discs such that rotational movement of the discs with respect to one another will vary the percentage of color from each disc which contributes to the color displayed when the discs are spun together. The entire group of discs, which could be of any number but preferably 6 or 7, are rotated by a main drive device to mix the colors so exposed to form the desired color by reflected simulation. An observer when viewing the spinning group of color discs will see a reflected color which is determined by the exposed percentages of each color disc.

  • Patent number: 4302222
Abstract: Two processes and apparatus for chromatographically separating components of a volatilizable mixture on a continuous basis are described herein as specific examples of the continuous preparative chromotographic separation of unwanted volatile species from volatile product by passage through a continuous fibrous textile solid. The volatilized mixture is fed by means of a flowing carrier gas through a column or conduit containing continuous polymeric solid therein such as a fibrous textile solid like yarn wherein one unwanted component of the mixture is significantly retarded in its passage by adsorption processes as compared to the other components of the mixture. The retarded component is that which one wishes to remove from the mixture. The desired product is gathered at the outlet of the conduit. The polymeric solid separating medium is regenerated by removal of the adsorbed component in either of two ways.

  • Patent number: 4302142
Abstract: An apparatus and method for automatically loading eggs directly from stacks of alternately rotatably oriented flats includes a conveyor for supplying stacks of eggs to an egg loading station which includes a device for removing of the eggs from the uppermost flat and for removing the uppermost now empty flat. The device includes a device for rotating and lifting the stack after the flat is removed to orient the stack for the removing of the next layer of eggs. Such a configuration is made necessary since such stacks of eggs are normally arranged with each layer of eggs being rotated 90.degree. with respect to the next layer of eggs and since the array of eggs is normally not square it is necessary to reorient the stack each time a layer of eggs and the associated flat is removed therefrom. For this reason the present invention includes a stack rotation device in addition to a flat removal device, an egg removal device and a stack supply means.

  • Patent number: 4297758
Abstract: An inflatable life preserver of the encapsulated type encircling the neck of a wearer includes an inflatable cell or cells confined within a protective cover when in collapsed condition. The cover, formed of a strong fabric or other flexible material, comprises a pair of panels between which the cell is confined. The panels are permanently secured along the edge of a neck-encircling, center opening of the cover. The outer edges of the panels are separably connected, to confine the collapsed cells. Inflation of the cells causes separation of the panels. A protective flap is substantially coextensive in area and configuration with the panels, and lies between the panels so that the cover is in effect composed of three layers. The cells are confined between the flap and one of the panels, the flap being secured along its outer edge to said one panel while having its inner edge left free.

  • Patent number: 4285204
Abstract: Defrost of a refrigerated display case, especially those cases in which refrigerated air curtains are directed across open front or open top areas, is improved by reversing the direction of the air circulating fans during a predetermined portion of the time during which the case is in a hot gas defrost mode. In a preferred example, the evaporator fan motors are reversed following the initiation of a hot gas defrost cycle, at a time during the cycle when air warmed by the defrosting evaporator coil becomes available. A thermally actuated switch means effects the reversal at the appropriate time, so that areas of the refrigerated display case that would normally be the last to receive the benefits of the warmed air, in particular the return air flue and tank drain, become the first to be subjected to the warming effect thereof.
