Abstract: Egg grading equipment of the type wherein a series of weighing devices each having a balance beam adjusted to respond to the weight of an egg of predetermined weight are provided with activating means which are cushioned or damped so as to render the weighing devices more sensitive, accurate and instantly responsive to the weight of the eggs being weighed whereby the accuracy and the speed at which the weighing operations are carried out can be materially increased.

Abstract: A single element imprinting assembly of the disk, cylindrical or spherical type for use in typewriters and the like is provided with a stationary printing assembly having kinematically independent controls for character selection and imprinting movements of the printing element. The stationary printing assembly arrangement avoids the penalty of added moving mass when the mass of the character selection prime mover is increased. For the cylindrical and spherical types, the independent movement is achieved by three separate drive controls such that the axis of the tilt or lift control and the axis of the rotational drive control both perpendicularly intersect the axis of the imprinting drive control at separate points with universal joints or other constant speed couplings being located at each respective intersection thereby allowing independent and concurrent rotation, lift or tilt and imprinting modes of motion to attain higher printing speed.

Abstract: Equipment for use in washing articles such as egg trays and the like wherein the articles after being washed are moved by a conveyor to a drying zone for being picked up by a rotatable carriage by which they are lifted into a hood and rotated at high speed to discharge water or other washing liquid therefrom. The movement of the conveyor and the rotation of the carriage are coordinated to start and stop the rotation of the carriage so as to dry one article after another as it is advanced to the drying zone and onto the carriage by the conveyor. The rotatable carriage includes a system for orientation of the trays or the like for discharge to the conveyor and a brake assembly for quickly decreasing the rotational velocity of the carriage.
