Patent number: 5222028Abstract: The invention is a system and method that uses a digital oscilloscope to digitize a waveform and then loads the digitized waveform into a computer. The computer scans the waveform data locating leading edges by comparing data to a rolling average and a noise threshold and locating tops and bottoms if the pulse is a negative going pulse by comparing data to slope criteria until a trailing edge is discovered. The trailing edge defines the end of the pulse, the immediately preceding leading edge defines the beginning of the pulse and the pulse height and this allows the pulse characteristics to be determined. This discovered pulse is removed from the waveform by setting all data values in the pulse to the pulse baseline value, and the scan for leading edges, pulse tops and a trailing edge is performed again to isolate and characterize another pulse. This cycle of detection, analysis and removal continues until the end of data is encountered before a pulse is discovered.Type: GrantFiled: October 12, 1990Date of Patent: June 22, 1993Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventors: Gary K. Patent number: 5204864Abstract: An arbiter circuit has a first flip flop and a second flip flop. The first flip flop sends a bus request (BR*) signal to the VME bus by toggling the bus request signal when a trigger signal is received. The second flip flop sends a bus busy (BBSY*) signal to the VME bus by toggling the bus busy signal when a bus grant (BG*) signal is received from the VME bus. The second flip flop releases the bus busy (BBSY*) signal on the VME bus when a reset is commanded at the end of the test by a controller or a push button switch. Tests are performed by writing to the bus and reading from the bus by an address register, a write data register and a read data register connected to the address and data lines of the VME bus. The trigger signal source is selected by a trigger select circuit. A data transfer acknowledge trigger can be selected to trigger every time the data transfer acknowledged (DTACK*) line from the VME bus indicates a data transfer on the bus.Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 1990Date of Patent: April 20, 1993Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventor: Chongsoo Won

Patent number: 5185882Abstract: Test data is incorporated within the microcode of a bit-slice microprocessor to be used during development of the program to verify program performance and during operation of the program as a built-in test. Little additional hardware is required and there is minimal impact on the structure of the program. The program is allowed to operate with the same data that it would have when integrated with the system. During development, the embedded data is used as a substitute for the rest of the system, allowing program development to continue until system integration, using only power supplies and some test equipment. When implemented and used with a commercially available microprocessor ROM emulator, the test data may be varied to highlight difficulties in algorithm design and program development. The operating program cannot tell the difference between live system data and embedded test data. Thus, the program will behave identically during development and system operation.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1990Date of Patent: February 9, 1993Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventors: Harvey H. Patent number: 5170137Abstract: A frequency selective limiter is described in which first and second ferrite members have confronting planar surfaces and at least one conductor is located on the surface of each ferrite in intimate contact. Each conductor on the first ferrite is a mirror image and is paired to a corresponding conductor on the second ferrite. The paired conductors have confronting end surface portions which are intimately bonded or welded in electrical contact such that each of the paired conductors is electrically equivalent to a single conductor in closely coupled to the ferrites. No other form of bonding is necessary to secure the ferrite members together. In the invention, an external conformal ground plane is more securely deposited in the regions where the ferrites abut. In a particular embodiment, coplanar ground planes located between the ferrites are securely bonded to the conformal ground plane.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1991Date of Patent: December 8, 1992Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventors: James D. Patent number: 5052401Abstract: An automated visual testing system is disclosed which presents an alternating steady state visual stimulus to a patient through an optical system that modifies the stimulus image. As the image changes, the patient produces evoked potentials that change. The evoked potentials are detected by a product detector which produces the amplitude of the evoked potentials. The product detector includes filters which isolate the patient's evoked potentials, a modulator which detects the response using the stimulus source frequency and a demodulator that determines the amplitude of the response. The product detector detects the level of the steady state evoked potential signals even in the presence of substantial background noise and extraneous electroencephalograhic signals. These detectors can be used to monitor the evoked potential produced by visual, aural or somatic steady state stimuli.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 1989Date of Patent: October 1, 1991Assignee: Westinghouse Electric Corp.Inventor: Gary W.
