Abstract: A hollow plastic member provided with end caps having holes therein through which wires can pass and be placed under tension so as to provide internal support for said member to reduce deflection of said member when a load is placed thereon and to return said member back within acceptable limits to its original position.

Abstract: A method of estimating the precision of an apparatus that generates a continuous stream of information. The method comprises repeated resampling of the dataset defined by the data stream for a selected time interval, or repeated sampling of a theoretical distribution fitted to a dataset defined by the data stream for a selected interval, calculating the sample estimate of the population mean for each resample, calculating the index of precision from the series of the population means thus obtained for evaluation against a benchmark such as a standard value, a specification or a contract requirement. Calculations can be done by a microprocessor and microprocessor instructions internal to the instrument or by a microprocessor and microprocessor instructions external to the instruments.
Abstract: A method of making a golf ball cover which, in order to increase the golf ball cover density, comprises adding to the cover materials which are in pelletized form nano-particles of a denser material of approximately 0.05 microns or less in size and the golf ball thus produced.
Abstract: A polar balanced putter is shown having a body made of readily castable material and having a high density material in the toe and head portions and a low density material in the center portion. Connected to the putter body by a joint bar is a hosel made from a high strength light weight material.

Abstract: A cutting blade made of surgical stainless steel with a very small angled back hone, a small grind angle, a small angled front hone, and a reduced size included angle, which has an increased hardness that results in a longer lasting narrow edge geometry blade that has a reasonable cost with increased durability and accuracy, providing greater cutting precision, productivity and net yields, while reducing the compression of the blade and processing downtime.
Abstract: A combination cylinder and pistons wherein the pistons are provided with piston rods coaxially located in the cylinder so that fluid under pressure may be introduced into the head of one of the pistons at one end of the cylinder and transmitted through a tubular opening coaxial with said piston rod to the space above the head of the next adjoining piston and if desired, through similar openings in a plurality of additional pistons, until the last piston rod which is not provided with such an opening therethrough and which is connected to a tool.
Abstract: A wood-type golf club head is provided with vertical grooves adjacent at each end of the ball hitting surface in order to enhance the desired gear effect when balls are hit on the toe and heel of the club.
Abstract: A belt having rechargeable batteries thereon and connected to a light to be worn on the cap of the hunter as well as a flood light to be carried by the hunter and also a third light which may be used to illuminate the walking area. The first two lights provide different levels of illumination.
Abstract: The invention involves a golf club which has a ball striking surface with horizontally extending grooves on it in which the upper edges of the grooves are harder than the lower edges. The upper edges of the grooves on the ball striking surface are selectively made harder either by directional or non-directional surface treatment processes or by making them from materials which are harder than the materials from which the lower edges of the grooves are made.
Abstract: Apparatus including a video baseball-simulating game and a special bat containing a combination of electronic, mechanical, and optical components for providing infrared radiation or other energy (typically electrical) that is modulated when the player swings the bat and thus actuates a centrifugal switch therein. Receiving and decoding means receive the energy and, responsive thereto, provide digital signals to software in the video game to control an animated batter in the visual display therein. An alternative form of the apparatus functions similarly, except that radiation is emitted from, and received at, a "home plate" on the floor and is modulated by the swinging of an ordinary bat to diffract a portion of the radiation in its path from emitter to receiver.

Abstract: An apparatus for the practicing of golf swings utilizing a motion sensor and a radiation source on the forehead of the user which projects a radiated signal when head motion is sensed. The signal is detected by a unit contemporaneously with the golfer's swinging either-a golf club, if he is outside, or a simulated golf club provided with a beam of radiation emanating from one end thereof, if he is inside. In the case of the simulated unit which may be used indoors, details of club head registry, (open, closed, square, sweet spot, slightly toward the toe, slightly toward the heel, toe, heel, top and bottom) swing, follow through, club head speed, tempo, distance the ball travels and the path of the ball are displayed and recorded.
