Abstract: The invention relates to the purification of recovered AB5 alloy which is obtained from spent nickel/metal hydride storage batteries by the selective removal of any Ni(OH)2 and the recovery of lanthanum without dissolving any AB5 alloy.
Abstract: The present invention provides a process of recovering AB5 and/or AB2 as well as other metals from spent nickel metal hydride batteries from a slury by a series of separation steps utilizing the screening off of larger metal particles, removal of magnetizable small metal particles from a filter and then separating AB5 and/or AB2 by passing the filtrate through a froth flotation step to separate AB5 and/or AB2 from lighter small particles.
Abstract: There is provided a composition and a method for forming fire resistant panes containing borate-phosphate anions and the window pane and window assemblies prepared therefrom.

Abstract: A method for rejuvenating a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane which is subject to biofilm and other contaminants in an aqueous system through the use of a free molecular iodine solution at a pH of about 2.2 to 4.0.
Abstract: A centrifugal pump mounted in an external housing. The pump has a split housing containing an impeller with outwardly extending vanes that is mounted on a drive shaft. The drive shaft at one end is mounted to a sealed bearing within the external housing and at the other end to a drive.
Abstract: The present invention provides electrolytes for use in electronic devices which contain imidazolium salts in combination with high boiling aprotic solvents having lower flammability and lower toxicity than acetonitrile electrolytes.
Abstract: The disclosure defined by this invention provides a method for extruding thermoplastic polymers which includes the step of creating high pressure steam in the extruding apparatus so as to prevent scorching and to solubilize contaminants. The method can be used in a neutralization step of ionomers in an extrusion process to obtain an extrudate having good light transmission and improved impact resistance.

Abstract: The invention relates to a cutting and lubricating suspension composition containing gelatinous particles for cutting hard and brittle material with a wire saw. The composition contains an in situ partially neutralized polyelectrolyte and a glycol which suspends abrasive particles used in the cutting operation.
Abstract: A method is provided to treat skin to restore barrier homeostasis and to promote normal stratum corneum function by applying to the skin a liquid composition which forms a phase inversion membrane. The amount of solids in the liquid composition is varied so as to provide a desired degree of porosity to the resulting membrane.

Abstract: A filtration apparatus for use in a system containing a gas or liquid to be decontaminated. The apparatus has at least one housing for a filter that removes contaminants from a gas or liquid which include biologics and chemicals. The housing contains an inlet portion and an outlet portion in association with valves for closing or regulating the flow of gas or liquid to be decontaminated by the filter. A differential pressure gauge is optionally provided to monitor the pressure in the housing and to indicate when the filter should be replaced. One or more housings can be used for the apparatus. The apparatus is useful for securing water systems, gas delivery systems, and vacuum systems.
