  • Patent number: 5868067
Abstract: A baler for compacting fibrous materials or other compactable materials having a platen operable by two compression devices. One compression device is at least one hydraulic cylinder with a piston rod attached to the platen which performs compaction. The other compression device is at least one hydraulic cylinder with a piston rod which is attached to the platen and performs tramping. The apparatus provides rapid tramping before compaction by the selective activation of only the second compression device. Both cylinders function through a common hydraulic fluid reservoir and solenoid valve.

  • Patent number: 5816735
Abstract: The present invention teaches a female part that can locked in selected positions on a round rod. The female part includes a hollow passageway into which a locking screw can be screwed in a generally radial direction into engagement with the rod. When seen in a cross section, the passageway includes two flat surfaces which slope towards one another symmetrically in relation to a diametrical plane. The angle defined by the surfaces with the plane lies between 2.5' and 15.0'. The locking screw enters the passageway in the wider part between the surfaces.

  • Patent number: 5611492
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and method for grinding and separating pre-softened refuse tire portions. The pre-softened portions are compaction ground with tapered auger positioned in a housing. The ground material which is discharged from the housing is thereafter magnetically separated into a metal refuse fraction and a rubber crumb product fraction. Optionally a second stage apparatus is provided. The second stage apparatus differs from the apparatus substantially only in respect to further comprising a second housing for enclosing said second auger which has rifling on the inner surface thereof and which runs counter to the flights of said second auger; and means for rotating said second housing counter to said second auger. Crumb rubber product from the apparatus is fed into the inlet of the second stage. A 200 mesh crumb rubber is thereafter recovered from the outlet of the second stage.
