  • Patent number: 8302921
Abstract: A clamp for securing a surgical appliance post to a rail mounted on the side of a surgical table which clamp may be placed over and on the rail at any desired location by providing the clamp body with a passageway transverse the body of the clamp and parallel to the rail, the passageway having a lip on one edge of a width about the dimension of the rail for engaging the backside of the rail, and the passageway having a width greater than the rail on the opposite edge. A clamping device such as a screw or cam is mounted on the outermost portion of the clamp and is arranged to engage and secure the post as well as bind the clamp body to the rail. Additionally, the clamping arrangement of one of the preferred embodiments provides a means by which an appliance post may be gripped at any chosen angle rather than limited to a fixed orientation.

  • Patent number: 7915509
Abstract: A moveable key lever pivot bearing system for keyboard instruments in which the pivot bearing is provided with a longitudinal slot to enable mounting the bearing over a pivot pin disposed on a balance rail mounted within the case of the instrument. The key lever, pivot pin, and balance rail all remain in fixed relationship to one another resulting in a fulcrum point change when the bearing is longitudinally shifted back and forth with respect to the pianist. Means are provided to fix the bearing at a selected longitudinal position, extension arms for example, which may be manipulated to adjust the position of the bearings.

  • Patent number: 7878648
Abstract: A strap lengthening arrangement for eyewear incorporating an extendable and retractable retaining strap in a hollow temple to form a part of and be attached to eyewear such as eye sight correction glasses, sunglasses, safety and protection goggles, and the like. The temple has a longitudinal passageway extending the length of the temple and an eyewear retaining strap, a moveable or traveling strap retaining block, and a block retractor are disposed within and along the length of the temple. The strap is arranged to fold back on itself first about a pivot positioned proximate the end of the temple and then again about a second pivot attached to or made part of the block effectively tripling the length of the strap within the temple. An improved block retractor and lock and release mechanism for the block are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7766477
Abstract: An extendable and retractable eyewear telescoping retaining strap assembly consisting of an outer tubular strap member and an inner strap member slidably disposed within the tubular member. Means are provided to secure the inner strap within the outer strap in the retracted position and to prevent the separation of the two straps when the inner strap is in the extended position. The assembly is attachable to the temple of an eyewear frame either by attaching the outer tubular strap to the temple or by attaching the inner strap to an additional retaining strap disposed within the temple. Each strap of the assembly is flexible and either longitudinally stretchable or inelastic to provide for different modes of use.

  • Patent number: 7399079
Abstract: A mechanism for extending and retracting a retainer strap for eyewear. The strap is disposed in one or both hollow temples of an eyeglass frame and is manually extended, retracted, and locked by an extension which slides in a port or passageway forming a track or slot disposed in one surface of the temple extending from the interior to the exterior of the temple. The extension provides the means to manually retract the strap from an extended position, which extended position is achieved by pulling out the strap from the rearward end, and may be used to form one component of a locking mechanism for the strap either in the extended or retracted position. The retainer straps may be either elastic, inelastic, or one of each to provide for different modes of use.

  • Patent number: 7243654
Abstract: An adjustable position limb support for surgical tables consisting of a limb support arm, a limb cradle attached to the support arm and an orientation control device such as a movable handle located at the distal end of the support arm. The proximate end of the support arm engages a pivot assembly which has one section providing for rotational movement in the lithotomy direction; and a second section providing for rotational movement in the perpendicular abduction direction. Each section has a locking mechanism which is independently secured and released to position the arm as desired. One locking mechanism is operated by the rotation of the support arm and the other by an extendable and retractable linkage activated by the control device.

  • Patent number: 7228218
Abstract: Power switching apparatus for an electrically driven vehicle drawing power from a plurality of spaced apart ground disposed busses separated by insulators. The apparatus employs a pair of contacts for routing power from the busses to the vehicle motor, the speed of which is controlled by the power frequency presented at each successive buss as the vehicle proceeds on its journey. The contacts are serially positioned one after another with respect to the line of travel of the vehicle and are joined together by a switching mechanism which senses the power status of each contact at any particular moment. Power is transferred to the vehicle motor through one contact or the other in accordance with a selected sequence of operation. Voltage arcing and power lapse conditions are substantially alleviated by this arrangement.

  • Patent number: 7159978
Abstract: A temple construction arrangement for eyewear incorporating a retractable retaining strap in a hollow temple to form a part of and be attached to eyewear such as eye sight correction glasses, sunglasses, safety and protection goggles, and the like. The temple is separated or split lengthwise into two haves and a rotatable bearing, positioned transverse the length or longitudinal axis of the temple, is placed at the temple end attachable to the lens holding frame between the two halves. The retractable strap is disposed within and along the length of one side of the temple and, in combination with a longitudinal stretchable retracting member such as a spring or elastic cord, passes around the bearing. The attached retracting member is disposed along the length of the opposite side of the temple from that of the strap providing a retraction force for the retaining strap. The temple halves are then joined together to enclose the bearing, retaining strap, and retracting member as a finished unit.

  • Patent number: 7142957
Abstract: An improved system for supplying electric power to and automatically controlling the speed of driverless electrically motivated wheeled vehicles on a guideway utilizing a plurality of guideway disposed power busses, each supplied by a sequentially variable frequency power supply. The vehicle is propelled by an electric motor sequentially in contact with the busses. The speed of the motor is controlled by the particular power frequency encountered at each buss while the vehicle moves forward on the guideway. One or more designated stop and start zones are selected for stop and start journey events in which the busses within the zone are alternatively powered by either a series of power supplies emitting frequencies at which the vehicle will decelerate to a stop or a series of power supplies emitting frequencies at which the vehicle will accelerate forward from a stopped position or alternatively continue in the normal course of travel.
