Patent number: 6412239Abstract: The present invention is a window frame wherein all of the structural members are formed with the same substantially identically-shaped configuration by metal extrusion. A plurality of structural members are arranged to form a supporting structure. Each structural member has a U-shaped channel and a second arm spaced apart on defined by a base portion having a first arm and a second arms spaced apart on opposite lengthwise sides of said base portions. The first and second arms extending from said base portion have end portion turned inward and extending in a direction toward said base portion. Fastener detachable secure the plurality of structural members into a configuration adapted to detachable mount a translucent barrier within the supporting structure formed by the structural members.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 1999Date of Patent: July 2, 2002Inventor: Allan S. Miller

Patent number: 6336094Abstract: A method for processing a file containing a financial statement in uncoded format such as a financial statement stored in an ASCII file. The starting locations of the various types of financial tables in the financial statement as indicated by their table titles are identified by grammar descriptors. When all the table titles in the file are identified, a table title is then selected for processing. Typically after the table title, there are the associated column headers for the table, and they are analyzed and determined. Following the column headers, there are lines of text that are separated into line items, where each line item is composed of a label and/or one or more numbers corresponding to the label. With these line items, the next task is to parse these line items to verify that these line items make up the table and to identify the components of the financial table. A financial table is comprised of line items, subtotals, and grand totals.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1995Date of Patent: January 1, 2002Assignee: Price Waterhouse World Firm Services BV. Inc.Inventors: Don Carl Ferguson, William Kornfeld

Patent number: 6311166Abstract: A method is provided for assessing control risk in a model-based reasoning system used for analyzing financial accounting systems by decomposing and quantifying the risk factors in the model so that the risk factors can be used to determine areas in the accounting system where sufficient control is lacking and to determine which controls are key and thus should be subject to detailed testing. Factors quantified are failure impact risk, failure coverage risk, allowable risk, control detection risk, control strength, control defeat factor, attenuation factor, and control contribution. The present invention is used to enhance a hierarchical flow chart generating system, such as the Comet system, by providing risk analysis operative on a particular class of hierarchically structured flow charts.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 1996Date of Patent: October 30, 2001Assignee: Price Waterhouse World Firm Services BVInventors: Robert A. Nado, Mitra M. Chams, Jefferson L. Delisio, Walter C. Hamscher, Robert W. Halliday

Patent number: 6213558Abstract: A pelvic stabilization device attachable to a wheelchair includes a pelvic support brace and an apparatus for attaching the pelvic support brace to a wheelchair. A pivot apparatus provides movement of the pelvic support brace with respect to the apparatus for attaching the pelvic support brace, the pelvic support brace being pivotable between a first, neutral position and a second, tilted position. A pivot return apparatus is attached to the pelvic support brace to return the pelvic support brace to the first, neutral position from the second, tilted position. A pivot limiting apparatus limits the amount of pivot of the pelvic support brace that is inducible by the pivot apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: Beneficial DesignsInventors: Peter W. Axelson, William M. Richter, Jamie H. Noon

Patent number: 5106477Abstract: A fluid circulation apparatus for an electrophoresis device is disclosed. The fluid circulation device has an electrode gas retaining means communicating with the two reservoirs of the electrophoresis device. The electrode gas retaining means is disposed to trap electrode produced gas at a level below the fluid level in the remainder of the electrophoresis device so that fluid in the electrode gas retaining means has a pressure head greater than the pressure at the fluid level in the remainder of the electrophoresis device. The resulting fluid pressure differential causes the fluid flow between the two reservoirs of the electrophoresis device through the electrode gas retaining means.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1990Date of Patent: April 21, 1992Assignee: Genelex CorporationInventor: Howard C. Coleman

Patent number: 5086776Abstract: An apparatus and method for sensing cardiac performance by providing real time values of left ventricular performance of ambulatory or inactive subjects. Noninvasive sensors such as noise reducing phonocardiographic sensors, multi-crystal piezoelectric doppler pulse wave sensors, volume oscillometric pulse wave sensors, and electrocardiographic sensors develop a plurality of electrical signals representing certain key physiological functions. These electrical signals are uniquely conditioned and combined by a central processing unit and associated programs to yield real time outputs of Left Ventricular Ejection Time, Systolic Time Interval and Ejection Fraction for either ambulatory or inactive patients. These values are displayed, along with analog patient cardiac-based waveforms, on a recording device and may be used for future play-back.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1990Date of Patent: February 11, 1992Assignee: Precision Diagnostics, Inc.Inventors: Franklin S. Fowler, Jr., Russell P. Jurgensen

Patent number: 5079644Abstract: A multi-layered reflective structure is comprised of a base, a first layer of first reflective elements secured to the base, and a second layer of second reflective elements secured to portions of the first layer. Additional layers of reflective elements are each secured to portions of the preceding layer of reflective elements.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1990Date of Patent: January 7, 1992Inventor: Richard C. Elliott

Patent number: 5072938Abstract: A game or practice ball is disclosed having a rotation produced by an internal mechanism to cause the ball to curve dramatically when thrown. The ball has a substantially spherical shell. An axle is located diametrically within, and is connected to, the shell. An inertial reference mass in the form of a sphere is located within the shell and is rotatably mounted on the axle. A user released drive means is coupled to the inner sphere and outer shell for rotating the outer shell relative to the inner sphere and portions of the drive so as to impart spin to the shell when the ball is thrown.Type: GrantFiled: November 6, 1989Date of Patent: December 17, 1991Inventor: Yong Shin

Patent number: 4941414Abstract: A pellet fired stove has a rotating fuel feed cylinder for reliably and uniformly transporting pellet fuel from a hopper to the stove's combustion chamber. An open upstream end of the rotatable hollow feed cylinder communicates with a hopper containing solid fuel, such as wood pellets. The downstream end of the cylinder opens into a fuel chute leading to the combustion chamber. The fuel pellets from the hopper spill into the rotating hollow feed cylinder and form a sloping pellet bank within the cylinder. The rotation of the cylinder agitates the sloping bank of fuel sufficiently to cause a uniform quantity of fuel per cylinder revolution to be separated from the fuel bank and discharged from the cylinder into a combustion chamber.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1989Date of Patent: July 17, 1990Inventor: Timothy R. Carlson
