Abstract: An anti-fluttering valve construction includes a valve member with integral stem received in an oversize cylindrical bore in a guide which can give rise to fluttering of the valve member when it is unseated. To avoid fluttering, the guide at one or both ends of the bore is segmented and a spring surrounds the free ends of the segments to deform them inwardly to define a conically inwardly tapering portion of the bore which makes highly localized contact with the valve stem.

Abstract: An implement for cutting one or more strip of sod is provided which can be attached to standard vehicles, such as tractors. The cutting head of the implement is mounted in a subframe which is pivoted about a longitudinal axis with respect to the vehicle such that it will follow any unevenness of the ground. A remotely controllable depth adjustment means is also provided for varying sod thickness. The adjustment means includes a large eccentric bushing for rough adjustment and a smaller hydraulically controlled eccentric bushing for fine adjustment.

This sand sample is dried. The amount of water added to a concrete charge is regulated subject to the weight difference of the sand sample prior to and after drying.

Abstract: Chocolate is refined by so-called conching. This is carried out in a device whereby the mass is spread out in a thin film and exposed to the air. Among other things, the viscosity is reduced as a result. By subjecting the chocolate mass directly prior to the spreading in a thin film to high shear stresses, a further reduction in viscosity takes place. The invention provides a device wherein, directly preceding the spreading out in a film, the mass is subjected to high shear stresses by means of arranging radially directed pins on a drive shaft.

Abstract: A device for overhead dusting of a field with fertilizer or particulate material includes an overhead suction impeller having a central annulus receiving a vertical pipe leading from a flow-controlled hoppr discharge. A cover on the pipe confines the discharge of air and entrained material to an angular section of the annulus and a baffle is adjustable around the pipe to increase and decrease the angular section.

A filter is laterally and vertically movable between an initial position to open the top of the container and a subsequent position to close the top of the container. Supply means above the container mixes ground coffee and hot water and includes one or more partitions to cause the mixture to flow vertically downward into the open top of the container with hardly any turbulence so that the ground coffee floats on the hot water. Abstract: A system for the control of a member for following a moving object, especially a small object being part of larger entity, comprising an ultrasonic transmitter and receiver is characterized in that each sensor unit is fixed to the means of movement of a follower member. The ultrasonic sensor units are inexpensive and relatively insensitive to the dirt prevalent in an industrial or an agricultural environment. Since the sensor units can be brought relatively close to the object to be followed, the influence of the distracting larger entity is reduced and an accurate control system is obtained using simple reflection-sensing of the object. The control system can be applied in a milking apparatus. Furthermore the invention provides a method for the automatic milking of an animal.

The volute is made by assembling thin-walled mould wall parts, mounting them in place, and thereafter casting fresh concrete around the resulting mould wall, thereby ensuring that reinforcing elements of the mould wall are connected with reinforcing elements of the concrete to be cast. The suction casing and suction mouth are preferably made in the same way. Thus, the use of complicated casings for casting concrete elements can be avoided.

Side wall spaces between the front and rear parts when converted are filled by accordion-folded side wall parts accommodated within the front and rear parts. Likewise, accordion-folded floor part are accommodated within at least one of the front or rear parts to fill a floor space when the part are converted.
