  • Patent number: 7705721
Abstract: Environmental sensors are distributed in a computer system to sense environmental conditions, and the sensors are polled at polling intervals which are adjusted in response to changing environmental conditions, thus allowing deteriorating or improving conditions to be recognized and monitored more or less closely as desired.

  • Patent number: 7678105
Abstract: A sidewall of biological tissue which surrounds and defines an opening in the tissue is sealed or fused to occlude the opening by compressing apposite sidewall portions and applying sufficient energy to cause the fibers of the compressed apposed sidewall portions to intertwine and fuse with one another to form a permanent seal. The energy application is controlled by detecting a precursor fusion condition while applying the energy and before sufficient energy has been applied to achieve an adequate seal. The application of energy is terminated in a time-delayed relationship to the detection of the precursor fusion condition such that sufficient energy has been applied to achieve an effective seal. The precursor fusion condition is detected upon the peak RF current delivered to the tissue remaining below a threshold value for a threshold time.

  • Patent number: 7672590
Abstract: Data processing devices in a data center are more easily relocated by consolidating the data and power connections to the data processing devices within a mobile data cabinet. The mobile data cabinet includes an access switch to consolidate communications and connections among computing devices in the mobile cabinet and to consolidate communications to a central communication service through a main communication cable. A single data communication connection through the main communication cable and a single electrical power connection through a power delivery cable to the mobile cabinet reduces and simplifies number and difficulty of the disconnections and connections that must be made to move the mobile cabinet.

  • Patent number: 7662145
Abstract: A partial-length catheter, or an extendable tube or sleeve member of the catheter, is selectively movable within the prostatic urethra to open a urine drainage passageway through and obstructed portion of the prostatic urethra or to open the external urinary sphincter muscle and thereby discharge urine from the bladder. A control element is manipulated at a position exterior of the urinary canal to selectively move the catheter or the extendable tube or sleeve member, thereby selectively controlling urine discharge. The catheter may also be used to diagnose urinary retention problems caused by a weak bladder or a prostatic obstruction.

  • Patent number: 7626810
Abstract: A high-frequency energy absorbing member is used with a disk drive carrier to attenuate high-frequency electromagnetic radiation emitted from a hard disk drive housed within the disk drive carrier. The use of the high-frequency energy absorbing member allows various other components of the disk drive carrier to be manufactured from less expensive materials which are ineffective at attenuating high-frequency electromagnetic radiation.

  • Patent number: 7627008
Abstract: A second harmonic laser beam is generated by passing a fundamental frequency laser beam through a single second harmonic generator (SHG) crystal more than two and preferably four times, to increase the amount of power converted from the fundamental beam into the second harmonic beam and to increase the overall efficiency of the conversion.

  • Patent number: 7594134
Abstract: A group of data storage units are serially connected in a sequential data communication path to communicate read and write operations to first and second interfaces of each data storage unit in the group. A data management computer device (“filer”) manages read and write operations of the data storage units of the group through an adapter of the filer. Main and redundant primary communication pathway connectors extend from the filer to the interfaces of the data storage unit, thereby establishing redundancy through multiple pathways to communicate the read and write operations to the data storage units of the group. Main and redundant secondary communication pathway connectors extend from partner filers to the groups of data storage units associated with each partner filer, thereby further enhancing redundancy.

  • Patent number: 7544086
Abstract: A male coaxial connector is rotatably tightened onto a female coaxial connector to a recommended torque specification by visually observing relative positions of indicators of both connectors, beginning at a pre-torque relationship and continuing tightening with a wrench.

  • Patent number: 7540871
Abstract: A three-port receptacle connects both single-prong and three-prong electrical connectors of electrosurgical accessories to an electrosurgical generator. The receptacle includes two control ports for accepting the two control prongs of the three-prong connector and an energy-delivery port for accepting the energy-conducting prong of the three-prong connector. The energy-delivery port also receives an energy-conducting prong of a single-prong connector. A single contact assembly is located behind the energy-delivery port and delivers electrosurgical power to the energy-conducting prongs of both types of accessory connectors.

  • Patent number: 7459053
Abstract: An elongated workpiece is inductively heated by a difference in an amount of magnetic flux flowing in a portion of the elongated workpiece compared to an amount of magnetic flux around the same portion of the elongated workpiece. The flux differential induces circumferential eddy currents to heat that portion of the workpiece. The alternating magnetic flux is conducted to the workpiece in a high permeability flux guide.

  • Patent number: 7406390
Abstract: Gravity information for a gravity survey is obtained by using an array of relative gravimeters whose relative gravity measurement signals have been calibrated by using an absolute gravimeter to approximate absolute gravity measurements. The absolute gravimeter is moved periodically to the location of each relative gravimeter to measure absolute gravity. The absolute and relative gravity measurements for each relative gravimeter form an error signal which is used to calibrate each relative gravimeter.

  • Patent number: 7395566
Abstract: A flexible seat cushion, such as a wheelchair cushion, has an upper surface with a support contour for establishing relatively less pressure on skin adjacent to the bony prominences of the person's pelvic area and relatively more pressure on skin covering adjacent tissue masses. A support member is attached to the rear corner of the cushion. The support member has relatively less flexibility than the seat cushion. The support member is retained to a longitudinal and/or transverse side of the cushion to cause the support member to resist deformation of the support contour from contact with the pelvic area of the person when seated on the seat cushion. Connector member may be connected to the support member to extend along longitudinal and/or transverse sides of the cushion to deform and thereby adjust the support contour for better support of the pelvic area.

  • Patent number: 7373678
Abstract: A flexible support structure of a seat cushion, such as a wheelchair cushion, has an upper surface with a support contour having relief areas for establishing relatively less pressure on skin adjacent to bony prominences of a user's pelvis and having a support area for establishing relatively more pressure on skin covering a tissue mass spaced from the bony prominences. A slit is formed in the rear corner of the support structure and an insertion member is inserted into the slit to change a position of the support area to thereby adjust the support contour for better support of the pelvic area. A cover encases the support structure to resist outward deformation of the support structure. The cover has an extension portion that expands the cover at the rear corner to increase a dimension of the cover to encase an increase dimension of the corner caused by the insertion of the insertion member.
