    Abstract: A lotion applicator that has a hollow handle for containing lotion. The hollow handle has a closable opening and flexible walls such that the squeezing of the walls forces lotion contained within the hollow handle to exit the closable opening. A casing is attached to the handle and covers the closable opening. A casing cap is removably attached to the casing such that a storage compartment is formed by the attachment of the casing cap to the casing. A porous pad is contained within the storage compartment and is for absorbing lotion squeezed out of the handle. Some purposes of the casing cap are to delay drying of the pad, protect the pad from contamination, and prevent lotion on the pad from contaminating other objects. In a preferred embodiment, the user first removes the casing cap from the casing. Then, the user removes the handle from the casing. The user then opens the closable opening and squeezes the handle so that lotion exits the handle and is applied to the pad.

    Abstract: An earring that flashes in synchronism with the wearer's heartbeat. A pulsed IR LED/photocell combination is built into an earring along with a comparator and a visible light-emitting source. The comparator determines when the heart has beat from the variation in the signal from the photocell and transmits a signal to a solid state switch to turn on the visible light-emitting source. Thus, the light emitting source flashes once for each heart beat. In a preferred use of the present invention a lover is able to determine when his or her partner is excited by observing the rate at which the partner's earring flashes. The invention may also be used for medical monitoring of patients.

    Abstract: A motor vehicle with a self-powered air conditioner system. An absorption type air conditioning unit is configured to air condition at least a portion of cab space of the motor vehicle. The unit has at least one electric powered component. There is a generator located outside the cab space for vaporizing a refrigerant. There is a condenser for condensing the refrigerant to produce a condensate, and an evaporator configured to remove heat from the cab space by a process of evaporation of the condensate. There is a combustion unit configured to burn fuel from the fuel tank. The combustion unit provides heat to a hot surface. A plurality of thermoelectric modules is mounted in thermal contact with the hot surface. A heat sink is cooled by the cooling water system. The heat sink is positioned so that it is in thermal contact with said plurality of thermoelectric modules.

    Abstract: A method for providing stock information to traders. Stock information is received that includes bid offers, ask offers, the size of the bid offers and the size of the ask offers and the identity of the market makers making each offer. In addition, trade information is received that includes the volume of each trade, the time of each trade, and the price of each trade. The stock information and trade information are displayed on a display screen. The display screen includes a display of bid/ask trade bars for a stock or each of selected number of stocks in which percentage of sales at bid prices and percentage of sales at ask prices are depicted. By considering the display screen, traders are better able to determine trading patterns of the market makers in those selected stocks and increase their probability of buying low and selling high.

A retroreflector reflects the transmitted components back through the etalon. The spectrometer is very compact producing precise fringe data permitting bandwidth measurements with precision needed for microlithography for both &Dgr;&lgr;FWHM and &Dgr;&lgr;95%.

    Abstract: An F2 laser having an etalon-based line narrowing output coupler and a technique for tuning the laser. The etalon based output coupler is adjusted to preferentially reflect a percentage of light at or near the spectral maximum of one of the primary F2 spectral lines and to not reflect light at the other primary F2 spectral line. Thus, a selected range of the selected line is preferentially amplified in the gain medium and the other line is transmitted out of the laser cavity and, therefore, receives no amplification and is suppressed. The result is substantial narrowing in the preferred embodiment of the 157.630 nm line and effective suppression of the 157.523 nm line. Substantial improvement in line narrowing of 157.630 nm line results from a wavelength selective properties of etalon based line-narrowing output coupler.

    Abstract: An excimer laser system with a real time fluorine monitor and an automatic fluorine control system to permit precise control of the fluorine concentration within the laser chamber. Cleaned laser gas is extracted from the laser chamber and directed through an F2 sample cell prior to returning to the chamber through one of the chamber window housings. A UV light beam is directed through the F2 sample cell and the amount of absorption of the light is measured. In preferred embodiments the absorption is measured by detecting with a photo detector the amount of light which passes through the cell. The photo detector provides a feedback signal which is used by a laser controller to automatically control fluorine concentration in the chamber to within desired ranges. In another preferred embodiment an acoustic detector detects acoustic signals resulting from absorbed light pulses. This invention provides a substantially real time measurement of fluorine concentration.

    Abstract: A high pulse rate pulse power source for supplying controlled high energy electrical pulses at rates of 2000 Hz or greater. The source includes a pulse generating circuit including a charging capacitor, a solid state switch and a current limiting inductor. Pulses generated in the pulse generating circuit are compressed in at least two pulse compression circuits and a step-up pulse transformer increases peak voltage to at least 12,000 volts. A very fast regulated power supply is provided for charging the charging capacitor in less than 400 microseconds and a pulse control system including a programmed processor controls the charging of the charging capacitor to an accuracy of less than about one percent at a rate of at least 4000 charges per second. In a preferred embodiment capable of operating at pulse rates of 2000 to 4000 Hz or greater, water cooling of the saturable inductors is provided.

    Abstract: A miniature thermoelectric module for generating electric power from low power heat sources in the range of a fraction of a Watt to a few Watts. The module comprises an array of thermoelectric elements, each element having a cross section of less than 0.001 square inch and a length of at least 0.25 inch. The elements are separated from each other with a polyimide insulator sheet in a checkerboard array. In a preferred embodiment, the modules are fabricated by hot pressing a stack of alternating plates of p and n doped thin plates all separated by thin sheets of a polyimide insulator material to produce a pressed stack of p and n doped layers. The stack is then sliced to produce layered plates which are then stacked with insulating polyimide layers positioned between the layered plates to produce the checkerboard array of p and n thermoelectric elements. Contacts are applied to electrically connect all of the elements.

    Abstract: A feedthrough structure of a gas discharge laser chamber conducts electric power through the wall of a sealed gas enclosure to a single piece electrode inside the enclosure. The feedthrough structure includes a single piece integrated main insulator larger than the electrode. The main insulator is compressed between the electrode and the wall of the enclosure. The surfaces forming interfaces between the electrode and the single piece insulator are the insulator and the wall are all very smooth to permit the parts to expand and contract as the chamber temperature varies. The feedthrough structure also provides mechanical support and alignment for the electrode and includes seals to prevent gas leakage around the feedthrough structure.

    Abstract: A controller for a solar electric generator that permits the generator to produce power substantially at its maximum capacity while also providing efficient charging at three charging stages; i.e., bulk charging, acceptance charging and float charging. Power is transferred from the generator to a temporary electric storage device that is periodically partially drained of power to maintain the temporary electric storage device at a voltage corresponding to the voltage needed by the generator to provide maximum generator power. The electric power drained from the temporary storage device is used to charge conventional batteries. In a preferred embodiment, the temporary storage device is a capacitor that is part of a buck regulator operating at 50 kHz with duty factor control between 0% and 100%. This buck topology switching type regulator provides the periodic draining.

In other preferred embodiments a separate laser beam reflected off the RMAX mirror on to a photodiode array is used to position the mirror.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a very narrow band pulse excimer laser capable of producing pulses at a rate in the range of about 500 to 2000 Hz with enhanced energy dose control and reproducibility. Very small quantities of a stablizing additive consisting of oxygen or a heavy noble gas (xenon or radon for KrF lasers, or krypton, xenon or radon for ArF lasers), are added to the gas mixture. Tests performed show substantial improvements in energy stability with the addition of about 30 ppm of xenon to a KrF laser. Tests show improved performance for the ArF lasers with the addition of about 6-10 ppm of Xe or 40 ppm of Kr. In a preferred embodiment very narrow bandwidth is achieved on a KrF laser by reducing fluorine partial pressure to less than 0.10 percent and by increasing the reflectance of the output coupler to greater than 25 percent. In a preferred embodiment, prior art fused silica beam expansion prisms used in the prior art line-narrowing module were replaced with calcium fluoride prisms.

    Abstract: An overcoat protected diffraction grating. A replica grating having a thin aluminum reflective grating surface is produced by replication of a master grating or a submaster grating. The thin aluminum reflective surface may be cracked or have relatively thick grain boundaries containing oxides and hydroxides of aluminum and typically is also naturally coated with an aluminum oxide film. The grating is subsequently recoated in a vacuum chamber with a thin, pure, dense aluminum overcoat and then also in the vacuum the aluminum overcoat is coated with a thin film of MgF.sub.2. The grating is especially suited for use for wavelength selection in an ArF laser operating producing an ultraviolet laser beam at a wavelength of about 193 nm. The oxygen free aluminum overcoat prevents the ultraviolet light from causing damage by stimulating chemical reactions in grating materials under the aluminum grating surface or in the aluminum oxide film.     Abstract: A protein skimmer for removal of protein contaminates from protein contaminated water. An injector is used for spraying protein contaminated water into a mixing chamber having a water bubble chamber. The spraying motion causes bubble generation in the water bubble chamber. Contaminates in the water attach themselves to the bubbles and rise to the surface of the water as foam. A hollow foam riser is attached to the top of the mixing chamber and provides an exit pathway for the contaminated foam. As foam is generated, it rises through the foam riser and carries with it contaminates. A foam collection cup is attached to the top of the foam riser and collects the contaminated foam. Consequently, the water left behind in the mixing chamber is substantially more pure. The substantially more pure water exits the mixing chamber through a purified water exit aperture.
