  • Patent number: 6085738
Abstract: A burner has a burner tube and a nozzle holder mounted in one end of the burner tube. An igniter is positioned within the nozzle holder and acts to ignite any of the multi-liquid fuels which may be used with the burner. A nozzle emits atomized liquid fuel under the venturi effect of the nozzle with compressed air being supplied to the nozzle. Primary air holes extend circumferentially around the nozzle holder to admit air radially which passes directly to the burner tube. Secondary air holes extend around the inside circumference of the burner tube on the secondary air injection plate and admit air axially to the burner tube.

  • Patent number: 6076288
Abstract: A rubber tired railway plow (100) has a plow unit (102) mounted to a plate (111) which extends across the forward end of the rubber tired vehicle (100). The plow unit (102) is attached so as to be movable on the plate (111). Wedges (122, 123) are used to maintain the plow unit (102) in position on the plate (111). When the wedges (122, 123) are removed, the plow unit (102) is movable on the plate (111) from one side of the vehicle (100) to the opposite side thereby to be able to plow on either side of the rails (141).

  • Patent number: 6062170
Abstract: Method and apparatus for reducing or eliminating the contamination by algae or phytoplankton in a fish farm (100). A series of tarpaulins (112) are suspended from buoyant members (103) which support the netting (102) of the farm (100). The tarpaulins (112) are connected at their lowermost ends (115) to a movable series of horizontal booms (122) that may take on air for positive buoyancy or which may displace the air with water for negative buoyancy. The booms (122) reciprocate on generally vertically oriented spars (113) which are maintained in position using anchors (104) and stays (111). As the booms (122) are raised or lowered, the tarpaulins (112) are similarly raised or lowered to allow or prevent algae from entering the farm (100). A water pipe (200) is maintained in position within each cage (101). Air is injected into the water pipe (200) from a compressor (214). The injected air initiates water flow upwardly within the water pipe (200).

  • Patent number: 6056981
Abstract: Method and apparatus for harvesting and processing zooplankton and, in particular, for harvesting and processing euphausiids for subsequent use as a feed product for early stage juvenile or larvae feed or for a food product as an additive. The euphausiids are continuously harvested from coastal waters and dewatered. The dewatered product is passed to a heat exchanger to increase its temperature and, hence, to a digester where a desired level of enzymatic activity is obtained. The product is then held by a surge tank for subsequent transfer to a ball dryer where the product is dried at a relatively low temperature without destroying the stabilized enzymes created in the digester. The digesting step may be deleted in the event the end use of the product is for a food product.

  • Patent number: 6053711
Abstract: Pump to supply fluid to at least two circuits in a control system for a production well. Each of the circuits is maintained at different pressures. The pump provides fluid to a plurality of poppets that are opened or closed depending on the positions of a cam surface which controls the position of the poppet. A pressure relief valve is used to prohibit fluid from entering a circuit unless the pressure exceeds the pressure of the fluid in the control circuit. The cam surfaces are controlled by a knob rotatable by an operator. By rotating the knob, the poppets can be opened or closed so as to provide fluid sequentially to each of the circuits and pressurize each circuit individually.

  • Patent number: 6032921
Abstract: An engine shutdown valve comprises a housing and a gate movable within a housing between a first position where the air flow through the shutdown valve is substantially unrestricted to a second position where the opening is restricted thereby stopping air flow. The gate is pivotable about an axis. The gate has an extension with a recess which is engageable by a piston movable between a first position where the gate is held in its latched position and a second position out of engagement with the recess so as to allow the gate to move to a position where the air passageway is closed. The gate is movable by a rod attached to the gate lever and which rod is biased by a compression spring mounted within a sleeve. The spring is adjustable to increase or decrease the force on the gate and such adjustment can be accomplished from outside the shutdown without disassembly of the entire valve.

  • Patent number: 6033578
Abstract: Method for removing an oil filter from an engine when the filter is to be replaced or removed and apparatus for assisting such oil filter removal. An air valve is positioned on the casing of the oil filter and air is injected into the volume of the oil filter surrounding the internal filter. The air displaces oil in the oil filter. This reduces the quantity of oil in the oil filter and, after the air chuck and compressed air line are removed from the air valve, allows the oil filter to be removed without dripping oil on the floor of the garage or on the operator performing the servicing of the oil filter.

  • Patent number: 6015134
Abstract: An actuator used to close and open a shut-in valve of a flowline. An indicator rod is threadedly connected to a connector which, in turn, is threadedly connected to the valve stem of the shut-in valve. A compression spring extends between a diaphragm plate and the bottom of the actuator. The shut-in valve is opened by pneumatic pressure above the diaphragm and the compression spring closes the shut-in valve by moving the valve stem when the pneumatic pressure above the diaphragm is exhausted to the atmosphere. The actuator including the compression spring may be disconnected from the bonnet on which the actuator is attached by rotating the indicator rod and removing the attachment bolts between the actuator and the attachment flange. The connector will be left on the valve stem.

  • Patent number: 5971353
Abstract: Dump/stop valve to regulate the time delay between the closure of a surface controlled subsurface safety valve and a surface controlled surface valve. Fluid is applied to a first cavity above a pilot plunger which maintains the subsurface safety valve in an open configuration. In the event the surface safety valve is intended to be closed, the fluid within the first cavity is bled off by a control circuit which immediately closes the surface safety valve. The pilot plunger responds by allowing the subsurface safety valve to be closed a predetermined and consistent time period thereafter.

  • Patent number: 5927961
Abstract: A powered multi-fuel burner has a burner assembly which utilizes an air aspirated nozzle. An air compressor provides air to the air aspirated nozzle and to a fuel-holding tank where the fuel within the tank is put under air pressure thereby to enhance its flow to the air aspirated nozzle. A bleed valve is positioned between the air compressor and the fuel thank thereby to increase or decrease the air pressure within the fuel tank. By increasing and decreasing the air pressure within the tank, the burner can produce heat over a range of operation.

  • Patent number: 5813963
Abstract: A container assembly apparatus and method for assembling a roe shipping container. The lid of the container is manually positioned in contact with one edge of the container. A first button is pressed which allows swing arm to open and allow access by the container and lid to the assembly apparatus. As the container and lid move into the assembly apparatus, rails move the lid downwardly and into a closer relationship with the top edges of the container. A second swing arm terminates movement of the container and lid and maintains them in the assembly location under the apparatus. A second button is pressed and a platen moves downwardly to install the lid on the body of the container while simultaneously inserting a plug into an opening in the bottom of the container. The second button is released which allows the second swing arm to open the container to be moved from its assembly location.
