  • Patent number: 4268293
Abstract: Method and apparatus are disclosed providing both for separation of the components of a toration fiberizing center, including separation of both the glass stream supply means and of the secondary or carrier jet from the blast, and at the same time further providing for stabilization of the feed of the glass into the system, notwithstanding the separation of the components. This is accomplished by shielding the jet flow from induced air at one side of the jet and introducing the glass stream into the influence of the induced air at the opposite side of the jet.

  • Patent number: 4263007
Abstract: A technique is disclosed for heat treatment of fibrous mats, especially mats formed of mineral fibers such as glass and carrying a heat hardenable binder material, such as a thermosetting resin. The method and the equipment disclosed provide for continuous feed of the mat through a curing or treating oven having a plurality of heat treatment zones or areas. In one form of the method and equipment, the heat treatment in at least one zone is effected by circulation of a heated gas, such as air, through the mat in said zone, and the mat is also subjected to heat treatment in a localized area lying within said zone by passage of a second heated gas through the mat, the second heated gas having a pressure higher than that in the surrounding portions of said zone.

  • Patent number: 4247021
Abstract: A demountable bottom opening, foldable and reusable container for finely divided materials such as chopped glass fiber strands and other bulk, flowable materials is disclosed. The container is adapted to be mounted on a permanent pallet of great rigidity. The pallet is comprised of a skeletal base frame on which is mounted a shallow crown which receives and supports the container. The crown surrounds a central opening which is closed by hinged hexagonally-shaped flaps locked in position when the loaded containers are stored or transported. The flaps are unlocked to swing down to the sides of the opening so that they do not interfere with unloading of the container thereby insuring complete emptying. The use of an impervious foldable sleeve extending from the opening in the container and which unfolds to serve as a funnel through which the material is unloaded into a hopper beneath the pallet is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4245649
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system for use in monitoring a biological signal from a patient while an electro-surgical appliance which applies a high r.f. voltage, is being simultaneously used. The signals from a number of transducers are transmitted to an amplifier preferably an ECG amplifier with an input-filter. The amplifier is situated in a Faraday cage which is connected to one of the transducers. The filter is a screened HF-filter and the filter together with the Faraday cage is enclosed in an earth connected grounded container or screen. As a result radiation from the Faraday cage is substantially eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4246145
Abstract: A glass fiber sizing composition for the reinforcement of resin matrices which comprises one or more adhesive agents, non-ionic lubricants, organo-silanes, and cationic lubricants as well as a coadhesive such as gelatin, another silane or some sort of glass-resin binding agent and demineralized water as a complement. The organo-silanes are from the group comprising the organo-silanes containing an organic chain of the polyazamide type and the organo-silanes whose organic chain contains at least one phenyl radical and at least two secondary or tertiary amine groups. The addition of the organo-silanes to the sizing composition improves the tensile strength of the sized strands. These organo-silanes are good organic glass-resin binding agents and their presence decreases the risk of rupture of the strands during the winding operation.
