  • Patent number: 8240951
Abstract: An aqueduct assembly is provided as having a front gate assembly and a rear gate assembly. The front gate assembly has a front gate which will open to let water into the aqueduct assembly. When water begins to rise in the aqueduct assembly, a rear gate of the rear gate assembly opens to let water flow out of the aqueduct assembly. A method for diverting water is also provided. A front gate assembly opens for allowing water to flow into the aqueduct assembly. Subsequently, rear gate assembly opens for permitting water to flow out of the aqueduct assembly.

  • Patent number: 7959295
Abstract: Spectral separation filters for channels of a 3D image projection incorporate passbands of primary colors. In at least one of the filters, passbands are present in more than 3 primary colors. A set of two filters include a first filter having passbands of low blue, high blue, low green, high green, and red, and a second filter having passbands of blue, green, and red. The additional primary passbands of the first filter allow for an increased color space in projections through the filters compared to filters only having red, green, and blue primaries. The added flexibility of the increased color space is utilized to more closely match a color space and white point of a projector in which the filters are used.

  • Patent number: 7958616
Abstract: A method is provided for locking a chain in a locking device. The method includes sliding a chain along a surface of a chain-locking device until contacting another surface of the chain-locking device. Subsequently, the chain is slid along the contacted surface until reaching the end of the contacted surface. At the end, or in close proximity thereto, the chain passes, or falls, or is slid into a slot of the chain-locking device to lock the chain in place. A method is also provided for coupling together a pair of portable-corral members. A portable-corral panel is provided as having a panel support structure, and a portable-corral door connected to and within the panel support structure such as to be generally flush with the panel support structure when in a closed posture.

  • Patent number: 6836753
Abstract: Timing slack is allocated to edges of a timing graph by a converging loop that calls a Domain Restricted Timing Cone (DRTC) iterator. The DRTC iterator invokes a kernel program for each DRTC and computes time budgets for each edge. The time budgets are kept within established constraints of the corresponding DRTC. A timing verifier computes an amount of slack for each edge based on the time budget. An edge or arc of the timing graph is made permanent when the slack is less than a predetermined epsilon. The kernel program is based on any of a fast estimate, consideration of all time to end point (tte) and weight to endpoint (wte) pairs within the graph, and/or a set of tte wte pairs (or an envelope) that represent segments of a lowest slack to weight ratio.

  • Patent number: 6809874
Abstract: Pathlength matched optical devices (such as beam splitters) are produced by viewing optical paths through the optical devices and adjusting relative positions of optical components of the optical devices until the viewed optical paths are equivalent. The optical paths begin at markings at different locations on the optical device. The optical pathlengths are equivalent when both markings are in focus in a limited field of view camera or lens. In a beam splitting cube constructed of two prisms, markings located at precisely similar locations on different prisms are pathlength matched when coincident as viewed at a reference face of the cube. The prisms are abutted at their diagonals and are adjusted by sliding the prisms along the diagonals to the pathlength matched position. Optical adhesive between the prisms is cured after fixing the prisms at the pathlength matched position.

  • Patent number: 6796663
Abstract: A device package has a bezel attached to a carrier. The bezel extends toward a surface of an optical component to which a device mounted in the carrier is attached. The bezel extends in a direction and to a distance that allows the bezel to act as a guide for a dislodging tool. The dislodging tool is guided to an interface where an adhesive attaches the device to the optical component. Preferably, the device is a microdisplay attached to a prism assembly. The bezel may also be used to attach the device package to the optical component with either an air gap or a liquid coupling the microdisplay (and/or an optical stack) and the optical component. An air bladder, air bubble, or tube device is included in the liquid coupling to accommodate expansion of the liquid.

  • Patent number: 6786659
Abstract: With conventional analog printers, ordinary users are experienced in the subtract color mixture for adjustment of image colors. Therefore, when adjusting the colors in an image displayed on a monitor of a video player and set by the additive color mixture, a user has difficulty if not familiar with the complementary relation between colors. The present invention proposes a printer and color adjusting method in which images of which a designated portion changed in color balance using a gamma (&ggr;) data table in an image processor are printed in one printing paper and the user is prompted to select one of the images for storage in the printer. Thus, the user can select an image having colors he desires from images actually used and set the selected data into the printer. Thus, after the color adjustment, a desired print whose set colors are automatically stored can be provided.

  • Patent number: 6779310
Abstract: Public storage lockers are designed particularly for storage of bicycles, such as at a public transportation terminal. In a preferred embodiment the storage lockers are on-demand, lockable by a user who must unlock the locker using the same electronic key and who must unlock the locker before using the key for any other locker. The lockers are visually open, with a secure screen or mesh on the locker door and optionally on walls and top cover. This reveals that the bike locker is occupied and prevents the use of the locker for unauthorized, privacy-requiring activities. The bike enclosure has a floor wheel guide for conveniently loading the bike, and a special door latch mechanism which provides for security by including a latch bar in a fixed frame, while a latch bar lifter, operable to permit door opening when the lock is unlocked, is on the door.

  • Patent number: 6770478
Abstract: A dehydrated composition is provided that includes freeze-dried erythrocytic cells. Alcohol (e.g., sterol or cholesterol) is at least partially removed from erythrocytic cells including erythrocytic membranes. After removal of at least part of the alcohol, the erythrocytic cells have a low phase transition temperature range, an intermediate phase transition temperature range, and a high phase transition temperature range. The erythrocytic cells may be loaded with an oligosaccharide (e.g., trehalose) which preserves biological properties during freeze-drying and rehydration. A process for increasing cooperativity of a phase transition of an erythrocytic cell. A process for preserving and/or increasing the survival of dehydrated erythrocytic cells, including storing dehydrated erythrocytic cells having a residual water content equal to or less than about 0.30 gram of water per gram of dry weight erythrocytic cells.

  • Patent number: 6747605
Abstract: The present invention provides a planar antenna having a scalable multi-dipole structure for receiving, and transmitting high-frequency signals, including a plurality of opposing layers of conducting strips disposed upon either side of an insulating (dielectric) substrate. The dipoles are bifurcated between sides of a substrate on which the dipoles are disposed. A feed line is balanced to a co-axial cable and feeds one half of the bifurcated dipoles, and an independent feed line is connected to the other half of the bifurcated dipoles. Sets of the dipoles are arranged symmetrically around a center axis of the feed lines. The sets of dipoles are in series with other sets of dipoles. The antenna is ideally suited for operation in the 5.15-5.35 GHz RF band.
