Abstract: There is provided a composition having interpenetrating matrices comprising (a) a first polymer network characterized by nodes interconnected by fibrils and (b) a second polymer network comprising diorganosiloxy units. In another aspect, there are provided compositions comprising an interpenetrating polymer network of polytetrafluoroethylene and polydiorganosiloxane. Methods for making the foregoing compositions are also provided.
Abstract: A method for the selective removal of boron halides and other Lewis acid-type impurities from silicon halides is disclosed. Treatment of contaminated silicon halides with siloxanes, which react with the impurities, allow the distillation of silicon halide which is virtually free from contamination within extremely low limits of detectability.
Abstract: A vulcanizable silicone elastomer composition which has novel crosslinking points comprises (A) 100 parts by weight of a polyorganosiloxane having a polymerization degree of at least 100, wherein the organic groups are selected from monovalent substituted and unsubstituted hydrocarbon groups and are attached to silicon atoms at a rate, on average, in the range of 1.98 to 2.02 per silicon atom and at least two of the organic groups are monovalent hydrocarbon groups possessing at least five carbon atoms and a carbon-carbon double bond issuing from a silicon atom through at least one carbon atom, (B) 5 to 200 parts by weight of an inorganic filler having a specific surface area of at least 50 m.sup.2 /g, and (C) 0.05 to 15 parts by weight of an organic peroxide.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyorganosiloxane composition and, more particularly, to a polyorganosiloxane composition having good curing properties at room temperature and producing cured materials having good water absorption properties. The polyorganosiloxane composition comprises:(A) a curable silicone rubber composition containing polysiloxane which is liquid at room temperature as a base polymer; and(B) a polymer containing acrylic acid or an alkali metal salt of acrylic acid as a monomer unit.
Abstract: There are provided novel silicone-ester waxes having the general unit formula ##EQU1## where R is hydrogen or an organic radical, R.sup.1 is an ester-containing radical having at least 12 carbon atoms, a and b are independently selected integers from 0 to 3 inclusive, and the sum of a+b has an average value from about 1.0 to about 3.0, with the proviso that there is present at least one R.sup.1 radical.
Abstract: A treatment for finely divided silica reinforcing fillers is provided which utilizes low temperature and hydroxy or alkoxy containing diorganopolysiloxane as the treating agent. The treatment of fillers in this manner facilitates the manufacture and incorporation into silicone rubbers.

Abstract: There are provided substantially trialkylsiloxy terminated polysiloxanes having at least one amino or substituted amino group linked to at least one trifunctional siloxy unit of said polysiloxane through an alkylene or arylene bridge.
