    Abstract: A flexible protective device formed with a base member of bendable material has a resilient pad on one surface, a plastic cushion on the opposite surface, and a plurality of projections from the base member. The base member of one embodiment is provided with a pivot hinge to allow adaptability to any angular configuration. Another embodiment uses a bendable spine with extensions therefrom. Further modifications include the use of hook and loop type affixing pads for mounting of the protective device on appropriate supporting frame structure of the device being protected. Further embodiments using double-faced adhesive pads and/or permanent magnets are included. In some instances, the coating on the base member projections may be omitted, and in other embodiments, the projections themselves may be omitted. The method of making and using the protective device are also part of the invention.

    Abstract: The present invention is a dental prophylactic polishing cup of unique design and shape having uniquely shaped turbine like vanes or ribs positioned at an angle to the long axis of the prophy cup in such a manner, that as the prophy cup is rotated during a dental prophylaxis the polishing paste held in the cup and brought to bear against the surface of the tooth will be acted on by the said turbine like vanes or ribs forcing the polishing paste back into the cup counteracting the forces that tend to dislodge and throw the paste out of the cup. Thus the polishing paste is held in the cup for a longer period of time and for a greater number of revolutions of the cup for greater efficiency reducing the number of times the prophy cup must be refilled or reloaded, saving time effort and materials, and making the whole procedure less messy. The turbine like vanes or ribs also make the prophy cup easier to load or fill as the vanes draw the paste into the cup as it is rotated against the polishing paste container.

    Abstract: The method of making and using a flexible protective pad device includes forming a spine or base member with a plurality of lateral arms or projections extending from same. The lateral arms or projections extend from opposite sides of the spine or base member. The tips of the lateral arms or projections are coated or covered with resilient material such as liquid rubber, and resilient cushions are affixed or applied to the spine or base member to form the overall device. In using the device it is positioned upon a component on an article such as a boat to be protected, and the lateral arms or projections are bent about the component to substantially conform to the component. The spine or base member likewise may be shaped to conform to the component. Then an overall cover is applied over the protective device or devices as installed.

    Abstract: A multi-purpose toothbrush for cleaning and brushing a person's natural teeth and also his or her dentures. The device comprises an elongated handle for holding same by a user. An enlarged bulbous member is provided at one end of the handle. This member has a large number of bristles extending outwardly therefrom. One area of bristles has a substantially flat surface while the rest of the bristles provide a curved surface. Two parallel side edges are provided by the junctions between the flat surface and the curved surface. The very end of the bristle covered member is rounded. The side edges and rounded end are very useful in cleaning dentures.

    Abstract: A fluid pressure entry tap valve for use with pressurized pipes comprising a Wye device with an on-off valve of the ball type in each of two forks of the Wye. Preferably, one fork is in-line with the stem of the Wye while the other fork is at an angle thereto. The Wye stem is externally threaded for complementary engagement with a pipe saddle structure. The saddle structure is designed for either clamping to the pipe, or for being welded thereto.During use the Wye fork which is straight in-line with the stem has it's ball valve opened so a wet tap drill can be inserted to make an opening into the pipe under pressure. Then after removal of the drill the associated valve is closed. A curved guide directional shoe then is mounted upon the Wye, the valve opened again, and the guide inserted through the Wye into the pressurized pipe. Then the ball valve in the angled other fork of the Wye can be opened and a detector head of leak detector apparatus inserted therethrough into the pipe while still under pressure.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for detecting leaks in pressurized mains comprising input coupling structures spaced along a main, each coupling permitting insertion of a detector head connected to a hose/cable of extended length, a reel and housing holding the hose/cable which is designed to input fluid into the hose and make electrical connections to microphone and transducer structure in the head. Leaks in the main are located by depressurizing the main, inserting the detector head through a coupling, feeding pressurized fluid through the hose into rearwardly projecting jets in the head for effecting travel thereof lengthwise of the main, stopping the fluid flow, again pressurizing the main to effect any leaks, energizing the microphone while slowly retracting the head by winding up the hose/cable on the reel at the input position, listening for leak noise as the head is retracted toward the insertion point, and upon leak noise being heard, stopping the retraction and then energizing the transducer within the head.

    Abstract: The intra-gastric weight loss system apparatus and method of the present invention includes an intra-gastric elastomeric rubber balloon with self-sealing fill valve, to be placed and retrieved without surgery. As a benign space-occupying device, it will decrease gastric capacity to the point that saiety (the feeling of fullness) will occur after very little food has been consumed. Thus, the advantages of gastric and intestinal by-pass surgery will be realized, without surgery and the many resulting complications thereof. The elastomeric balloon is inflated with a liquid, preferably a saline solution containing an X-ray contrast media. The balloon is placed in a person's stomach by passing a naso-gastric tube through the mouth. The N-G tube has a previously placed nylon pull string through the lumen and back up the exterior. After this, a metal stylette is run down the lumen to very near the end of the N-G tube.

Additional actuating buttons may be provided for effecting illumination of the display of the timing device, and/or other timing functions of the device.Another embodiment provides an analog type timing device as well as mounting upon the fishing reel itself rather than the fishing rod handle.

    Abstract: A handle for a drafting instrument and the like comprising a ring body structure having a traverse slot therethrough for permitting the ring to be compressed, and further provided with a groove or ridge structure for complementary engagement with the perimeter of a hole and double aperture of a drafting instrument with which the handle is used. The preferred embodiment has one ridge which is closest to the gripping surface of a handle of larger diameter than a contact ridge furthermost from the gripping surface for permitting easy indexing of the handle during installation with the drafting instrument. Another embodiment reverses the respective diameters of the two ridges, while a further embodiment employs an internal spring for increasing the outward tension of the ring when released, and a further embodiment wherein tongue and groove structure is complementarily provided between the drafting instrument and the engaging portion of the handle ring.

    Abstract: The garment extender is used to stretch and size tubular portions of garments. The extender comprises three longitudinal bars, namely a first side bar, an intermediate bar, and a second side bar. The first side bar and the intermediate bar are fixedly spaced and secured to each other by vertically spaced cross bars. These cross bars have a row of engaging means on their upper surface. The second side bar has similarly spaced cross bars which are secured at one end to the second side bar and having a depending interengaging member at their other end adapted to interengage with any of the row of engaging means on the upper surface of the first-mentioned cross bars. The free end of these second-mentioned cross bars extend through openings in the intermediate longitudinal bar and may slide therethrough to provide a lateral adjustment of the second side bar with respect to the first two, and in doing so to accommodate garments of varying widths.
