Patent number: 6858236Abstract: The present invention is concerned with nutritional or pharmaceutical compositions containing an extract or concentrate of a plant from the genus Lycopersicon. The compositions of the invention are useful for the treatment or prophylaxis of diseases or conditions which are characterized by increased bone resorption, such as Paget's disease, tumor-induced bone disease or particularly osteoporosis.Type: GrantFiled: April 25, 2003Date of Patent: February 22, 2005Assignee: Universitat BernInventor: Roman Conrad Mühlbauer

Patent number: 6783020Abstract: A cup that is used for children that transitions them from sippy cups to conventional drinking cups. The cup does not require any suction by the child when drinking yet is spill proof when locked for transit. The cup features a reservoir, a top and a lid. Within the top is a central passage and a plate that contains vents. When closed, the lid is flush against the plate and prevents any liquid from leaking. When the lid is rotated open, a gap is exposed between the lid and plate to allow liquid to flow from the reservoir and through the vents to the child's mouth. Regardless of whether the lid is opened or closed, the lid always remains below the top rim of the top.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2002Date of Patent: August 31, 2004Assignee: Gerber Products CompanyInventors: David E. Featherston, Brenda J. Meyers, Charles Quinn

Patent number: 6770056Abstract: A device for dispensing a measured dose of liquid from an attached container which container has an elongate casing defining a dispensing cylinder, one end of the casing being adapted for mounting on the container. A plurality of dose indications are provided on the external surface of the casing so that a dose may be pre-selected by moving a dose setting collar along the casing. The collar has a stop engageable with a selected one of a multiplicity of recesses on the casing to secure the collar at the required position. A plunger having a piston co-operating with a cylinder defined by the casing is movable to lift the piston from said one end of the casing until the piston abuts the dose setting collar so charging the dispenser. Depression of the plunger to move the piston back to said one end dispenses the selected dose from an outlet port.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2002Date of Patent: August 3, 2004Assignee: Novartis AGInventors: Phil T. Price, Stephanie Bley, Bernard Sams

Patent number: 6712539Abstract: A roll-on applicator to delivery a body powder composition, especially baby powder, to areas of skin the require moisture absorption. The roll-on applicator provides superiority over shaker powders in that dust clouds and waste are minimized during application. Furthermore, the baby powder can be easily applied as the roll-on applicator glides over skin. Body powder compositions used in conjunction with the roll-on applicator contains at least an absorbent powder and a flow agent.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2002Date of Patent: March 30, 2004Assignee: Gerber Products CompanyInventors: Wanda Richard, Rebecca Whipple

Patent number: 6645543Abstract: A fat-rich powder provides the complete nutritional needs of an at-risk infant no more than one year old, who has acquired a milk allergy, such as cow's milk allergy (“CMA”), and/or an allergy to protein in “soy milk”, as well as digestive or absorption problems resulting in a damaged gut. Because such an infant must derive all its protein from amino acids it is not fed any ingredient derived from mammalian milk, but a combination of amino acids with nucleotides in specified amounts along with free L-glutamine, maintaining specified ratios of their relative amounts, which ratios in the ranges stated are found to be beneficial for healing of the infant's damaged gut, and for promoting cell division to assure its normal growth. A typical feeding of 32.Type: GrantFiled: October 7, 2002Date of Patent: November 11, 2003Assignee: Novartis Nutrition AGInventors: Sharon Gohman, Carol Jo Lowry
