  • Patent number: 5327116
Abstract: A low tire pressure sensor for use in detecting deflation of a tire while it is supporting a tow trailer from a surface as it moves in a given direction therealong. The sensor comprises a sealed housing holding a pivot shaft and enclosing an electrical contact switch which is activatable upon rotation of the pivot shaft from a first biased position to a second position. The pivot shaft has an outside portion which extends sealingly and rotatably through a portion of the housing. A resilient sensor rod is mounted on the outside portion of the pivot shaft and extends therefrom at an angle forward in the direction of movement of the tire when the pivot shaft is in a first biased position. The resilient sensor rod has an end spaced a predetermined distance from the surface, such that upon at least partial deflation of the tire, the resilient sensor rod contacts the surface and is moved over center to rotate the pivot shaft to a second switch position, at which the electrical contact switch is activated.

  • Patent number: 5313994
Abstract: A wheel and solid rubber tire comprising a circular mounting disk having an axis perpendicular through the center of the circular disk. A wheel rim is rigidly affixed circumferentially around the mounting disk and has a cylindrical surface extending from one end of the rim to another and, axially aligned about the axis of the mounting disk. Multiple angled cross ribs having top and bottom edges rigidly affixed at the bottom edges to the cylindrical surface of the wheel rim substantially continuously thereacross at an angle from one end of the rim to the other and evenly spaced circumferentially therearound. One or more base layers of even thickness rubber are bonded to the cylindrical surface interposed between the angled cross ribs, and multiple additional layers of even thickness rubber are bonded to the one or more base layers with each additional layer bonded to the next so that a solid rubber tire is formed which is directly bonded to the wheel rim.

  • Patent number: 5311741
Abstract: A new hybrid electric power production cycle is revealed, which utilizes hot, dry-rock, geothermal energy to produce dry, saturated steam, and utilizes natural gas or other fossil fuel to superheat the produced steam to a desired temperature. The superheated steam would then be used in a conventional Rankine cycle to produce large-scale electric power and energy. For a preferred steam pressure of 1800 pounds per square inch and a temperature of 1000 degrees Fahrenheit, the total energy consumed in the hybrid cycle would be 78% geothermal and 22% fossil-fuel.

  • Patent number: 5302093
Abstract: A fluid infusion pump includes a disposable cassette having an inlet, an outlet, and a fluid chamber between the inlet and the outlet. There is a fixed wall of the fluid chamber and a movable wall of the fluid chamber. A pump body receives the cassette in a fixed operating relationship such that an actuator in the pump body is activatable for reciprocal advancement and retraction with respect to the cassette and is adapted to confront the movable diaphragm when the cassette is received in the pump body. There is a detachable coupling between the actuator mounted in the pump body and the movable wall so that fluid is expelled from the fluid chamber on advancement of the actuator and positively drawn into the fluid chamber upon retraction of the actuator.
