  • Patent number: 6401113
Abstract: A system and method for pushing information from a host system to a mobile data communication device upon sensing a triggering event is disclosed. A redirector program operating at the host system enables a user to continuously redirect certain user-selected data items from the host system to the user's mobile data communication device upon detecting that one or more user-defined triggering events has occurred. The redirector program operates in connection with event generating applications and repackaging systems at the host system to configure and detect a particular user-defined event, and then to repackage the user-selected data items in an electronic wrapper prior to pushing the data items to the mobile device. The host system can be a desktop computer that redirects messages received from a network to the mobile device and that redirects reply messages from the mobile device to the network.

  • Patent number: 6397536
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for improving the connection between a building panel and a foundation. The improved connection is made possible by a unique form assembly that includes a trough assembly and a novel means for adequately supporting the trough assembly while the concrete is poured. The trough assembly creates a trough, which is an elongated hollow notch at the top of the foundation that resembles the shape of the trough assembly. Thus, the trough assembly is designed such that its width is approximately equal to the width of the building panel. The trough assembly also includes an angle iron affixed to the top of its sides. The trough assembly provides the building panel an elongated hollow groove having angle irons on each side. The prefabricated panel is therefor affixed to the angle irons. Placing the prefabricated panel in the foundation in such a manner and affixing it to the angle irons provides the panel with improved lateral and horizontal support.

  • Patent number: 6393609
Abstract: A shield for removable attachment to an eyeglass frame front having a pair of eyeglass lens holding frames and a pair of pivotal temples for holding said eyeglass lens frames on the head of a user to provide protection on the top, the bottom and the side of the eye. The sideshields are attached to the eyeglass lens holding frames in a detachable manner and are mounted such that they do not interfere with movement of the eyeglass temples so that the temples can be folded or, if they are spring-pivoted temples, can move outwardly a predetermined distance without substantial interference by the sideshields.

  • Patent number: 6394120
Abstract: The present invention is a more efficient compressor control system and a more efficient method of operating a multiple compressor system because the method and control system are a function of both the system pressure and the volumetric flow rate capacity of the system. Specifically, a compressor is loaded or unloaded from the compressor system after sensing the actual system pressure and volumetric flow rate capacity. The inventor(s) of the present invention have discovered that it is more efficient to control the compressors upon sensing both the pressure and volumetric flow rate capacity of the fluid. Moreover, controlling the compressor system in response to sensing both the pressure and volumetric flow rate capacity of the fluid insures that the appropriate blend of compressors is loaded to the system in order to produce the most suitable pressure and volumetric flow rate capacity.

  • Patent number: 6391620
Abstract: Initially, putrescent waste is deposited on a surface of a disposal volume which is partially composed of putrescent waste. A living system bio-converts at least a portion of the putrescent waste in the disposal volume, transforming the putrescent waste into waste residue. While bio-conversion is occurring on a portion of the putrescent waste in the disposal volume, waste residue is excavated from the disposal volume below the surface of the disposal volume. Because the excavation takes place below the surface area, the bio-conversion process is not affected by excavating the waste residue. A device for continuous bio-conversion of putrescent waste comprises a disposal track having lateral side walls and floor for containing the disposal volume. An excavation gap is associated with at least one of the lateral side walls for excavating waste material from the disposal volume. The excavation gap is positioned substantially below the living system so waste can be excavated simultaneously with bio-conversion.

  • Patent number: 6389326
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring a process flow of a semiconductor wafer. In one embodiment, the method initially calculates a first location of the wafer before it is processed. The wafer is then moved into a process chamber where it is processed. Then a second location of the wafer is calculated before the wafer is unloaded. If the difference between the first and second locations are within a predetermined amount, the wafer is unloaded and regular processing steps proceed. If the difference is not within the predetermined amount, an alarm is activated and the process is stopped.

  • Patent number: 6385030
Abstract: A surge protection circuit is coupled to the wires that transport digital signals between a local unit, such as an ONU, and a remote unit, such as a NID. The surge protection circuit includes a coordinating impedance having a capacitive element connected in series with the twisted pair wires coupling the ONU to the NID. The coordinating impedance couples a primary shunt protector and a secondary shunt protector. Various embodiments of the surge protection circuit comprise coordinating impedance devices including a series connected: capacitor and resistor, capacitor and inductor, and capacitor, inductor, and resistor. By using a capacitive element in the coordinating impedance, the signal loss through the surge protector is significantly reduced for 10 Base-T and 100 Base-T Ethernet systems. Further, the added inductance may become part of an integrated low-pass filter that further reduces signal loss at high frequencies.

  • Patent number: 6380711
Abstract: A system includes a recharging device to which an electronic hand-held device powered by a battery can be connected. A controller associated with the recharging device performs a method of intemal-device battery cell detection, i.e., distinguishing between NiMH/NiCd and other types of cells in the battery, before recharging the battery. A method determines the cell chemistry without any modifications to the battery and/or without any user input by performing tests on the battery. The tests include a Battery Voltage Test, an Internal Resistance Test, and a Timed Voltage Test. The testing is performed through a combination of hardware and software in the charging cradle. By performing the tests in a preferred order, detected alkaline, lithium, rechargeable alkaline, and carbon-zinc cells, damaged NiMH and NiCd cells, and close to fully charged NiMH and NiCd cells cause termination of a recharging operation before damage to the device or battery is sustained—without requiring input from a user.

  • Patent number: 6377477
Abstract: A synchronous rectifier is disclosed, which makes use of gate charge retention technique. In a forward converter after the main transformer is reset its secondary voltage diminishes to zero. For self-driven synchronous rectifiers the driving voltage is lost and current is forced to go through body diode with high conduction loss. Active clamp is a method to get around the problem but it requires an active switch on the primary side. The present invention introduces gate charge retention method by, which no additional active switch is required on the primary side. Synchronous rectifiers are kept on even after the main transformer is reset and secondary voltage diminished to zero. This synchronous rectifier avoids effect of leakage inductance in converter transformer windings and operates at high efficiency. This synchronous rectifier can operate in a number of circuit topologies.
