Abstract: A control panel for displaying, monitoring and controlling conditions of a process plant, the control panel includes a graphic display, and permits quick and easy rearrangement and repositioning of control switches associated with the graphic display. The control switches are mounted behind a graphic display panel without extending through the display panel, and the control switches are actuated by the presence of an object such as an operator's finger at the outside of the display panel. The control switches may be magnetically secured in place, so as to permit ease of repositioning.
Abstract: A system for suspending a tool for horizontal movement with respect to a workpiece, wherein a carriage carrying said tool is slidably carried on a set of parallel rails, which are in turn slidably carried by a second set of parallel rails at right angles to the first set of rails, to allow motion of the tool along any path in a horizontal plane. The tool suspension system is disclosed in a sign cutting apparatus wherein a template and workpiece are mounted on a work table and the carriage includes a stylus for tracing a pattern on the template to be reproduced in the workpiece by movement of the tool utilizing the suspension system, which is independent of the work table.
Abstract: A portable lightweight rifle which is primarily intended for use as a survival rifle. The rifle is readily disassembled into two assemblies for storage or ease of transporting, without requiring any separable fastener. A supply of ammunition is carried in a hollow stack tube. Both a rimfire embodiment and a centerfire embodiment are disclosed, and stampings or other relatively inexpensive and lightweight components are extensively used in both embodiments.
Abstract: A sling and pouch assembly for attachment to a carbine, without requiring existing sling swivels and without modifying the carbine. The sling assembly includes a front swivel having a hook which fits beneath the existing barrel band of the carbine. The rear swivel is attached to one side of a cuff which fits around the stock adjacent the butt plate. The cuff assembly includes one or more pouches for storing ammunition or the like. The cuff assembly has a skid-resistant inner surface for retention on the stock of the carbine.
Abstract: A flash attachment for a hand held camera having a flash head pivotally mounted on an extendable member. A main unit together with a plurality of modular auxiliary units which may be used to construct the attachment are shown. One embodiment shows a plurality of flash heads and means for firing them rapidly and sequentially while recharging in the same sequence.
Abstract: Apparatus for converting a firearm of a first caliber to fire cartridges of a second caliber. The regular bolt assembly of the firearm is removed and replaced with a conversion bolt assembly having a flat receiver plate which is bifurcated to provide a pair of flat rails. A bolt assembly is supported for movement along the rails, out of contact with the receiver of the firearm. The receiver plate of the conversion bolt assembly extends forwardly from a backplate which accurately locates the conversion assembly within the firearm, and the receiver plate is tilted to clear the conventional ejection port of the firearm. The conversion bolt assembly includes an automatic sear trip which enables full-automatic firing of second caliber cartridges on firearms that are so equipped, and also includes a weight for improved full-automatic operation. The disclosed embodiment is designed for use with an M-16 or AR-15 rifle.
Abstract: A sloped wall structure is formed from a plurality of rafters arranged in spaced, parallel inclined attitude extending from a lower support surface upwardly to a higher support surface. Anchor clips are positioned at the lower end of each rafter and pivotally connect each rafter to the lower support surface. Similar anchor clips are optionally connected to the upper ends of each rafter and are also pivotally connected to the upper support surface. A baffle plate extends laterally across the wall structure and covers the lower ends of each rafter structure and supports the glass panes or other infill material at the lower edge of the wall structure.
Abstract: A locking bar for use with sliding doors such as patio doors or the like, and permitting the sliding door to be securely locked either in a fully-closed position or in an ajar position. The locking bar includes a pair of telescoping members that are adjustably interconnected to have either a greater or a lesser length. One of the telescoping members selectably attaches to a keeper on the sliding door, and is nonremovably retained in the keeper whenever the shorter length is selected so that the door may be ajar, or optionally when the door is locked in the fully-closed position.
Abstract: A foot-mounted roller skate includes front and rear roller assemblies pivotable about upright axes. The rollers are hemispherical in shape and resilient pads are positioned on opposite sides of the roller support brackets to restrain the pivoting of the rollers out of alignment with the foot support platform.
Abstract: A steady support abdominal splint comprises a pad shaped to conform to the human abdomen and a strap attached to the pad for wrapping around the waist of a surgery patient and holding the pad against the abdomen, thus directing pressure about and lending support to an abdominal wound of the surgery patient to prevent injury and pain to the patient as the patient coughs, breathes or otherwise uses the muscles about the abdominal wound.

Abstract: A method and system for priority transcribing of a particular unit of dictation in a dictation-transcription system in which units of dictated material may be simultaneously recorded on, and transcribed from, a single continuous recording medium. The portion of the continuous recording medium from which dictated material has been transcribed is transferred to one of a plurality of bins or to one of a plurality of locations within a single bin from which it is withdrawn to be used for the recording of subsequent dictated material, and the system and method disclosed allows a priority unit of dictation in the sequence of units of dictation recorded on the recording medium to be selected from among other units of dictation in the sequence for transcribing without making any untranscribed unit of dictation in the sequence available for the recording of additional dictation which would obliterate any such untranscribed units of dictation.
Abstract: An auxiliary lift axle wheel assembly is mounted to a vehicle body by L-shaped levers, each of which is pivotally mounted at the intersection of its legs to the vehicle, and the lift axle is held in its upward, unloaded position on the longitudinally extending legs of the levers by the force of springs positioned over the longitudinally extending legs bearing against the upwardly extending legs of the levers. Air inflatable air springs positioned between the auxiliary lift axle and vehicle body are filled with air to move the auxiliary axle downward relative to the vehicle body with force sufficient to overcome the force of the springs to urge the wheels of the axle down into load-bearing engagement with the road surface beneath the vehicle.
Abstract: A heat insulation system for an attic and the like comprises a moving fluid barrier between layers of static insulation. In the disclosed embodiment the fluid barrier comprises a plane of moving air which extends over substantially the entire surface to be insulated. A method of circulating air through the air passage of the air barrier to reduce the temperature gradient between the attic and an underlying room is also disclosed.
Abstract: A slidable door is fastened in a stationary relationship with respect to its door frame by a mounting plate rigidly attached to the frame, elongated socket connector pivotally mounted at one of its ends to the mounting plate and extending toward the door handle, and a locking element comprising a door handle engagement portion connected to the door handle and a tongue projecting therefrom and extending into the opening of the socket connector. The tongue and socket connector have interengaging lock elements that are biased into engagement with each other by a set screw and/or spring means.
Abstract: A carrier for a sheet of photographic paper or the like. The carrier including a plate smooth on one side for receiving a piece of wet paper which will adhere thereto through surface tension of the liquid, a lip at the lower edge of the plate to secure the leading edge of the paper as the carrier is immersed into a liquid bath, guides on each side of the plate both to align a sheet of paper and to space a plurality of carriers appropriately when stacked, and an irregular surface on the back of the plate to prevent paper from adhering thereto when wet.
Abstract: A solar heating system for supplying heated air to various portions of a building. A solar panel is mounted externally of the building. The solar panel includes a solar radiation absorbing plate and a solar radiation transmissive plate spaced from the absorbing plate to define a solar air heating chamber. Ducts leading from the building circulate air through the solar air heating chamber. The heated air is then distributed throughout the building. The heat extraction unit of a fireplace can also be connected to the distributing duct work. Both the solar panel and the heat extraction unit additionally can be used to heat water.
