  • Patent number: 4297800
Abstract: Apparatus for converting a firearm of a first caliber to fire cartridges of a second caliber. The regular bolt assembly of the firearm is removed and replaced with a conversion bolt assembly having a flat receiver plate which is bifurcated to provide a pair of flat rails. A bolt assembly is supported for movement along the rails, out of contact with the receiver of the firearm. The receiver plate of the conversion bolt assembly extends forwardly from a backplate which accurately locates the conversion assembly within the firearm, and the receiver plate is tilted to clear the conventional ejection port of the firearm. The conversion bolt assembly includes an automatic sear trip which enables full-automatic firing of second caliber cartridges on firearms that are so equipped, and also includes a weight for improved full-automatic operation. The disclosed embodiment is designed for use with an M-16 or AR-15 rifle.

  • Patent number: 4293881
Abstract: A method and system for priority transcribing of a particular unit of dictation in a dictation-transcription system in which units of dictated material may be simultaneously recorded on, and transcribed from, a single continuous recording medium. The portion of the continuous recording medium from which dictated material has been transcribed is transferred to one of a plurality of bins or to one of a plurality of locations within a single bin from which it is withdrawn to be used for the recording of subsequent dictated material, and the system and method disclosed allows a priority unit of dictation in the sequence of units of dictation recorded on the recording medium to be selected from among other units of dictation in the sequence for transcribing without making any untranscribed unit of dictation in the sequence available for the recording of additional dictation which would obliterate any such untranscribed units of dictation.

  • Patent number: 4293145
Abstract: An auxiliary lift axle wheel assembly is mounted to a vehicle body by L-shaped levers, each of which is pivotally mounted at the intersection of its legs to the vehicle, and the lift axle is held in its upward, unloaded position on the longitudinally extending legs of the levers by the force of springs positioned over the longitudinally extending legs bearing against the upwardly extending legs of the levers. Air inflatable air springs positioned between the auxiliary lift axle and vehicle body are filled with air to move the auxiliary axle downward relative to the vehicle body with force sufficient to overcome the force of the springs to urge the wheels of the axle down into load-bearing engagement with the road surface beneath the vehicle.
