  • Patent number: 4870863
Abstract: A modular switch device includes a housing enclosing an interconnected control module, a display module and a power module. A sensor module supplying analog data signals from one of a temperature or pressure sensing element connects to the control module through a passage in the housing. A user connects his electrical wires and electrical power to the electrical assembly within the housing through an opening. The user can select between AC and DC switched output modules and the presence or absence of a 4-20 milliampere output module by plugging and unplugging same from wells provided in the housing. The manufacturer and user thus can modify the standard housing, which includes an internal electrical assembly to be a pressure or temperature switch and to provide selected output switch characteristics by applying and removing selected sensor and output modules thereto.

  • Patent number: 4866216
Abstract: A busbar corner housing includes outer and inner side walls secured to one another through flanges spaced from the corner bend. This leaves opposed openings that are substantially closed by plate-like corner covers. Each corner cover has a channel that conforms to the configuration of the outer and inner side walls and engages and abuts against the side walls. Each corner cover also includes a passage through which silicone caulking material can be forced to fill the spaces under the corner covers with caulking material, with excess caulking material being extruded out of sliver gaps between the corner covers and side walls to fill the sliver gaps and seal the housing against intrusion of moisture.

  • Patent number: 4858053
Abstract: A motor controller is adaptable to a wide range of motor currents by using an integrator circuit having an additional feedback arrangement for affecting the effective time constant of the integrator under specified conditions. The operational amplifier has an amplifier having a first input, a second input, and an output, an input resistor connected between an input of the operational amplifier and the first input of the amplifier, and a feedback impedance connected between the output of the amplifier and the first input of the amplifier. A voltage at the input of the operational amplifier is compared with a voltage at the first input of the amplifier. An auxiliary current path for the feedback impedance is provided when the voltage at the input of the operational amplifier has a predetermined relationship to the voltage at the input of the amplifier.

  • Patent number: 4855634
Abstract: An electric reflector-type lamp having an improved eyelet construction in which there is utilized a uniquely contoured eyelet fitted into specially shaped apertures in the rear of the glass reflector. The eyelets consist of a hollow cylinder of brass with a bulged center portion which is held firmly within each aperture. The end portions of the eyelet are flared to permanently hold the eyelet in position after insertion. The apertures in the rear of the reflector are comprised of a plurality of sections which accommodate the eyelet and promote sturdy construction. A light source capsule is guided into the apertures by the flared ends of the eyelets, after which the leads are soldered to the eyelets. To seal the lamp and for additional strength, an adhesive can be added around the eyelet.

  • Patent number: 4849589
Abstract: Apparatus for simultaneously applying two independent forces to the contact blades of a movable contact assembly. The contact assembly has three contact blades joined at the base. The circuit breaker mechanism exerts a closing force through a blade carrier to the center blade which in turn exerts a closing force on the outer main blades. To increase the contact force on the outside main blade contacts without increasing the contact force of the center blade contact and without changing the relative distances between the blade carrier and the main blade contacts and center blade contacts, a compression spring is positioned between each main blade and the blade carrier.

  • Patent number: 4811362
Abstract: A low power digital receiver (10) is provided that contemporaneously selects the lowest possible sampling signal frequency (34) (from a plurality of available sampling signals), and received signal level (28) to properly digitize (32) and recover a desired signal. Digitization is performed after the first IF using broadband stages (28, 30, and 32) that are temporarily enabled (44) to rapidly digitize the first IF signal. This, together with the low sampling rate, minimizes the power consumption of the receiver (10) thereby permitting portable and mobile digital receiver embodiments.

  • Patent number: 4766398
Abstract: This microwave oscillator in one embodiment has two tuning rods (16 and 18) configured to extend within a resonant cavity (12). One of these tuning rods (18) attaches to a shaft (19) that is affixed at one end and that is comprised of a material having a thermal coefficient of expansion that is different from the material comprising the housing (11) that forms the cavity (12). As a result, movement of the tuning rods (16 and 18) will vary as temperature varies, with a resulting stability in the frequency of oscillation.

  • Patent number: 4737677
Abstract: A high pressure sodium vapor discharge lamp of the type having a discharge tube with a feed-through tube and an internal electrode at each end of the tube. An outer envelope encompasses the arc tube and there is an arc tube centering means disposed within the outer envelope and electrically coupled to the arc tube. The arc tube centering means is comprised of a geometric configuration which compensates for thermal expansion differences between the arc tube and the outer envelope during lamp sealing and, more importantly, lamp operation. The arc tube centering means includes a pair of offset lead wires, at least one of which has a twisted loop disposed along its length. The offset lead wires are preferably made of niobium.

  • Patent number: 4722711
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for position orienting a base assembly of a metal halide lamp is describe for maintaining the curved arc tube in the upward position when the lamp is inserted in a socket. Once the lamp has been fully assembled and sealed a locator structure is attached to the base shell in order to create a base assembly which will properly position the lamp when it is in the socket. The welding apparatus of the present invention resistance welds the locator structure onto the base shell once the locator structure has been aligned approximaely 90 degrees counterclockwise from the tip of the curved portion of the arc tube when viewed from the dome end of the lamp. The lamp resulting from the method and use of the apparatus will be more inexpensive and will not have the problems of a loose base or a cracked seal.
