  • Patent number: 5408217
Abstract: A system for preventing unauthorized access to the programming and control features of a fire/security/control systems remote sensors. The exemplary embodiment of the present invention utilizes an association of transmitter identity/address with a central processor/control fire/security data base, which in turn is configured to securely program each transmitter with its location and function, or "personality". The various, individual sensors and central processor/control unit communicate individually via individual, repeatable pseudo randomization algorithms, producing a several bit result. The communicating central processor/control and each sensor must have a match on outgoing/incoming code before the transmitting sensor will accept the programming on its personality. The exemplary embodiment of the present invention also utilizes a randomization seed, which can altered occasionally, to further increase security.

  • Patent number: 5365427
Abstract: A system for evaluating the pre-existing free throw ability of the player, evaluating the players shot path, then defining the optimal path of the thrown ball from the point of release of the player to the rim of the target goal, and providing a target area suspended along the optimal path to assist the player in developing his or her ability to emulate the optimal path in adjusting their free throw method. The preferred, exemplary embodiment of the present invention teaches a two dimensional target path or three dimensional target conduit suspended along the defined optimal path of the calculated "perfect" free throw for the evaluated player, the target provided by a laser or series of lasers. The resulting target provides a visual indicator of the optimal path of the ball in free throw, which the user can attempt to emulate during practice, in order to improve and redefine his or her free throw ball path.

  • Patent number: 5312372
Abstract: A safety system for use in conjunction with an instrument having a needle, wherein there is included a spring biased, locking pushbutton or activation tab apparatus which communicates with a locking safety sheath situated at the base of the hypodermic needle prior to activation. The safety sheath is in sliding, longitudinal communication about the needle, and is activated to its sheathing position by pressing a pushbutton or activation tab on the locking pushbutton or activation tab apparatus, directing the sheath from about the base of the needle to over the tip of the needle. Upon communication with the tip, the safety sheath deploys a locking hatch, preventing the urging of the sheath back to the base, and rendering the needle unreuseable.
