    Abstract: A method of making a plurality of toothed belt constructions and a set of such belt constructions are provided, the method including the steps of disposing tubular sleeves of stretchable fabric material respectively onto a plurality of toothed mold members having different diameters, forcing mold material against the outside surfaces of the sleeves to tend to stretch the fabric material into the grooves of the toothed mold members as the mold material enters the grooves of the mold members so that the resulting toothed belt constructions will have the fabric material thereof carried in certain positions relative to the respective teeth thereof, and forming the sleeves from the same fabric material and with the same diameters in the nonstretched condition thereof.

    Abstract: An endless power transmission belt construction, cord therefor and methods of making the same are provided, the cord having the yarns and the plies thereof respectively twisted on a 2 for 1 twister so as to cause the longitudinal axes of the fiber filaments to be disposed generally in the longitudinal direction of the cord with the denier of the fiber filaments of each yarn being approximately 1500, the twist multiplier for the three plies being 3.7687 as the three plies are twisted together at a rate of approximately 2.9 turns per linear inch of the cord, the twist multiplier for the two yarns being 3.6765 as the two yarns for each ply are twisted together at a rate of approximately 4.9 turns per linear inch of that ply, and the fiber filaments comprising p-aramid that comprises co-poly(paraphenylene/3,4' oxydiphenylene terephthalamide).

    Abstract: A belt tensioning system, a belt tensioner therefor and methods of making the same are provided, the belt tensioning system includes a tensioner arm pivotally mounted to a support, and a wound coiled spring having opposed ends one of which is operatively interconnected to an abutment of the support and the other of which is operatively interconnected to tile arm, the arm having a shoulder for being engaged by the one of the opposed ends of the wound coiled spring so as to permit removal of the arm and the wound coiled spring as a self-contained unit from the support when the arm is pivoted to a certain position where the shoulder of the arm engages the one end of the spring and effectively moves the one end of the wound coiled spring out of contact with the abutment of the support, the wound coiled spring includes a helical spring having the opposed ends thereof including an inner end and an outer end, the one end of the wound coiled spring includes the outer end thereof.

    Abstract: A hose coupling, ferrule therefor and methods of making the same are provided, the method of making the hose coupling comprising a ferrule having opposed ends and an insert interconnected to one of the ends of the ferrule so that an end of a hose can be inserted into the other end of the ferrule and over the insert to be subsequently clamped between the ferrule and the insert, the method comprising the steps of forming the ferrule from a length of tubular stock that has opposed ends by rotating the stock, inwardly swedging the stock at a predetermined location thereon to define the one end of the ferrule while the stock is rotating, and then cutting off a portion of the stock at a desired location thereon that is spaced inwardly from that one end of the stock to form the ferrule.

    Abstract: A biasing device for an exercising machine is provided where one end of the biasing device is removably disposed on a lever arm of the exercising machine and the opposite end of the biasing device is disposed on a fixed support member of the exercising machine. The biasing device provides resistance to the movement of the lever arm in the plane of motion wherein the biasing device comprises at least one elastomeric band and a containing device to provide a bight on the ends of the biasing device for disposing on the respective portions of the machine. The biasing device may also have end members or a support placed within the bights. The biasing device, the containing device and the end members or the support may be initially separate and separable such that in the event of damage to any one of said devices it may readily be replaced with another such elastomeric band.
