  • Patent number: 5964483
Abstract: A quick connect-disconnect fluid coupling assembly having cylindrical outer and inner coupling members, one of which is connected to a conduit and the other to a fluid conveying system. The assembly is accomplished by inserting a U-shaped locking member having a bight and two parallel legs into the outer member, which has a peripheral groove receiving the bight so that the curved portion thereof does not extend beyond the periphery. Slots in this member receive the legs, which are then locked around grooves in the inner member and the ends of the legs do not extend beyond the periphery of the outer member. The outer portion of the bight is thinner than the inner portion to permit easy insertion into, and withdrawal from, the groove of the outer member. The system may also be utilized in an assembly of three or more components, wherein two or more locking members are used.

  • Patent number: 5937944
Abstract: A particle control screen assembly for a perforated pipe used in a well, a sand filter system, and methods of making same are provided. The screen assembly includes a woven mesh filter media disposed about an inner surface of the perforated pipe, and a protective wrapper disposed about the filter media. The protective wrapper comprises a radially inner perforated layer and a radially outer layer that is disposed between the inner layer and the filter media. A surface of the outer layer that faces the inner perforated layer has a non-smooth contour, with this surface of the outer layer having portions in direct contact with an outer surface of the inner layer. The outer layer is provided with apertures that are disposed in such a way that fluid cannot flow from the inner surface of the inner perforated layer directly radially both through holes of the inner layer and through the apertures of the outer layer.

  • Patent number: 5807634
Abstract: A method for improving the adhesion of alkylated chlorosulfonated polyethylene (ACSM) and chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSM) rubber compounds to a resorcinol-formaldehyde latex (RFL) treated polyester reinforcing element using lower than conventional heat set temperatures comprising dipping the element into a RFL dip comprising chlorosulfonated polyethylene; drying the element; heat setting the element at a temperature in the range from about 300.degree. F. to about 425.degree. F. under tension; incorporating the element into the rubber compounds; and curing the element and the rubber compounds. Further, adding an amine functional polyacrylate to the RFL dip prevents failure of the adhesion of the cord at start up temperatures of about -40.degree. F.
